Agreed. Which is a shame. It’s not just the goal scoring , he has a chip on his shoulder and he gets under the opponents skin.
The first round pick in the Copp trade was conditional on the Rangers winning 2 playoff rounds and Copp playing in 50% of the games. People say the Rangers traded a first round pick last year. That pick was upgraded after the both conditions were met and the 2022 was considered a below average draft. The Rangers and the other seven teams in the east had clinched their playoff spots by December last season. The Rangers could finish 2nd or 3rd in their division or be a WC team or they could miss the playoffs all together.
Sure but vatrano isn’t a 4th line guy, and he’s playing up in a lineup.

Gotta keep Kravy...Kreider is on the way down from last years peak performance. I mean if we have to give up one of the 3 first rd picks over the next 2 yrs it must be a player with some term
Skate and shoot. Vatrano can't do much else.
Basically.
I remember goals (some of them clutch) but I also remember a black hole defensively and a guy that couldn’t contribute anything in the offensive zone when he wasn’t scoring a goal.

Vatrano is a case study in a guy that really loses effectiveness in increased minutes
he was absolutely useless the last two series at ES last year because he did not have the IQ to keep up. he was hardly alone there but it really sticks out to me. especially in the tampa series

Sounds like Drury is NOT Interested in trading a 1st round pick for a rental. Thank goodness. 2nd in 2023 or 24. I read somewhere the 2nd round picks in 23 are better players than the first round picks in 24. The top 50-60 players in this draft are all solid players.
The Leafs and Jets are the only teams mentioned as willing to move their 1st round pick. That team will play TB and the winner will play Boston. If Toronto can beat TB and Boston, Bettman should cancel the last two rounds of the playoffs and just give Toronto the Cup.
Winnipeg is an all-in team. Bowness got a short term deal.

Those numbers are good but they are generally playing against lesser lines. If they were to be matched against other teams top lines those numbers would undoubtedly not look as good.

There was an awful lot of bellyaching around here when that pick turned into Brad Lambert for the Peg. It’s been pretty quiet on that front though since that kid looked pretty bad in the AHL.
I would like to have that kid in the system here but it is very unlikely he becomes a difference maker.
