Chytil has come along. This time last season Chytil was thrown into every trade on this board. The Rangers wouldn't trade Chytil straight up for JT Miller now let alone include Lundkvist and a draft pick in the deal for Miller. Kakko is coming along. Lafrenière is starting to get his confidence back. Patience is in short supply.
We will need Kravtsov and his cheap contract in the top 9 next year. Goodrow will have to be traded to extend Chytil and Miller and Laf. We still need bodies next year.

Sounds like Drury isn’t interested in trading a 1st round pick for a rental. Thank goodness. 2nd in 2023 or 24. I read somewhere the 2nd round picks in 23 are better players than the first round picks in 24. The top 50-60 players in this draft are all solid players.

The Leafs and Jets are the only teams mentioned as willing to move their 1st round pick. That team will play TB and the winner will play Boston. If Toronto can beat TB and Boston, Bettman should cancel the last two rounds of the playoffs and just give Toronto the Cup.

Winnipeg is an all-in team. Bowness got a short term deal.

Good for us the Peg all-in, knock out Dallas before the WCF.

What do people think about Mike Reilly? My understanding is that he's the victim of a numbers game, and can still play at the NHL level. He'll be 30 in July. Decent size.

The only issue is that he has a 3 mil cap hit and 1 year left, but if the Bruins would retain 1 mil and we could get another team to retain 1 mil, that would work for us cap-wise.

Do you know if his contract slides if he we don’t use him again this year?
He slides this season as long as he doesn't play 10 NHL games. Next season his contract counts no matter where he plays.

Reilly would be a good fit, except Gallant would hate him because he's not physical and he's not big.

It’s more nuanced than that.

15 no trade. That means there’s 17 teams available. As long as one of those 17 teams want him and it’s not who’d he sign with if he were bought out…. That’s the pitch

It can be Detroit, Columbus or any team for that matter. A team looking for vet jam. If they feel he won’t sign with them, they’d trade for him. We’re not forced to trade him.
We are not forced to buy him out either. If he’s good through the playoffs I don’t think we are looking to get rid of him anyway. Esp if the cap goes up by more than the rumored 1mil. If a team wants him and doesn’t want to have completion, they’ll trade for him.

I wonder if Gauthier would take a 2-year extension similar to Vesey right now. He’s a pretty nice depth winger and he is finally developing. Would be nice to lock him in on the cheap

Probably smart on his part
Brodzinski and Harpur did it
Take the guaranteed nhl Salary even if he clears waivers again

Overrated. He’d be the new whipping boy in 2 weeks. Not that good. Rather go for another physical dman that can actually contribute. Another Lindgren type wouldn’t be so bad. That one from Arizona but doubt Rangers can afford him longterm especially with resigning Chytil, Miller and the other kids in the future.

Goodrow could be an option for the Stars in the summer. Goodrow played for DeBoer in San Jose. The Stars have most of their roster signed for next season. Eight forwards. six defensemen and two goalies. Gurianov is on his way out. The Stars don't have any big players to re-sign. Goodrow's cap hit is $3,641,667. The Stars have $8,630,833. $4,989,166 in space with Goodrow. Pavelski has a $500,000 performance bonus for this season which will probably rolled over into next season. The Stars will probably look to add at the deadline. Nearly $4.5M for 3/4 more forwards and one more D. Dallas has the young cheap forwards in their system. The Stars are carrying 12 forwards now. Pavelski has a $2M performance bonus for 23-24 which can rolled over into 24-25 with the cap going up by then.

didnt they dominate the matthews line?

They were really good but I don't know who most of their ice time was against.

The Chytil line only went up against Matthews for a couple of shifts (less than 2 minutes TOI), and the CF% and chances were even, although Chytil did score his second goal. It's difficult to say they dominated based on one or two shifts.

The Chytil line mostly went up against the Kampf line and the Tavares line (about 5 minutes TOI against each line). They dominated against Kampf (83.33% CF) and were caved in regularly against Tavares (20% CF). I don't think they are ready to get the tough assignments every night. I would rather put that on Trocheck right now.

I missed alot of the game, who was tavares with? Nylander and?

Panarin Zibs Kakko - It solves the one and done issues on offense with the big2. Kakko ads possession and a reliable defender. Theoretically, our top 3 players at their forward position.

Laffy Chytil Kravtsov - It gets Kravtsov involved and success comes down to pace/effort for this line. It works when they are outworking and forechecking relentlessly. Kravtsov could fit in.

Kreider Trocheck Goodrow/Vesey - Same

That's what I'd try before any trades are made
