If we are listening to the players then listen to Kreider, who said the righty bumper was a necessity. And this was after months and months of us telling the donks that a right bumper was a necessity. Because it's common sense. If you want further evidence, Larry was on the Junks just last week saying that the biggest positive that Oshie brings to the lineup is being a righty bumper.

Actually, a lot of the donks are adjusting their thought process to fit the new parameters. "Of course the bumper should be a righty! We agreed with that the whole time." Move Panarin into the bumper spot! Problem solved!"

They want to move Panarin, a player they absolutely despise at even strength but is still an elite playmaker with time and space, into the bumper spot which plays to none of his strengths. All so they can squeeze in a player whose profile says he was drafted high but has demonstrated minimal playmaking ability. Let's be honest, all so that they get joaned on a teeny bit less by fans of other teams.

It's selfish and reprehensible.
What does this have to do with my post? Panarin is a righty, as I said put him in the bumper and move kakko or laffy to the halfwall to try a look w a left shooting option on the halfwall. You bring up oshie in the bumper and part of why that works is a lefty passing who can also disguise a shot option on the wall. Right now our play is right wall pass to trocheck or zib for shots or fox for another pass around the horn. The only shot threats are zib and bumper. A right shot on the right wall isn't really a threat.

Drury went the rental route last year. I think this year he is going to be looking for players with term to add to team. Tampa found great success adding players with term on good contracts/with retention. Same with Pitt in 2016. I think that is the way to go, not Kane, and I think Drury knows that.

Also, this free agent class blows. I wouldn't want to add one of these to the group. I would not be shocked if Adam Henrique is on this team at the deadline. Position versatility, can play up and down the lineup, kill penalties. Ducks retain 50% on the deal and you have a cheap middle 6 forward (2.9M) for the playoffs and next season.

Ducks are still rebuilding and currently have Zegras, Strome, and McTavish as down the middle options for the future. You could put Henrique on a line with Chytil if you don't feel comfortable with him taking big draws. This gets Goodrow off the 2nd line and lets you acquire a rental defender still.

I’m laughing at these player cards from the Athletic, Libor card says he owes the Rangers like two million to be playing for them 😂
If they're even remotely accurate (they very well may be - I have no clue), it gives a very clear indication of "bang for the buck". If you look at NJD almost all of their players are giving a huge bang for the buck. Some of our players are. Others... not so much.

NYR passed on tolvanen
They think Blais is better than him 🤬

Selfish and reprehensible. Just outjoan.

This team plays up/down to the opponent. Thats often an issue with young teams who thrive on confidence. Our oldest players are 31. Half of our forwards are under 26 and we have one D over 24. Its unfortunate we lost these points, but this should prime us to play up to our opponenets and yes you are right, beating them is favorable as we not only climb up but prevent them from also winning as we beat lower teams.
This would make sense if it was the younger players that were playing up and down. But the vets are doing it. Our vets should be beyond what you're talking about. They aren't 26.

Selfish and reprehensible. Just outjoan.
Huh

Something I didn't see mentioned was that Elliotte said whoever trades for Kane is going to have to sign him. That's a whole other wrinkle thrown into the equation and I don't think the Rangers should go in that direction.

The Rangers don't have the cap space to even think about that much less the asinine hypothetical TDL. If the Rangers are entertaining anything at this point, and they really shouldn't be given how the season has been going, it's adding vet LD on the cheap a la Justin Braun. We don't need another pass first forward. We don't need a past his prime forward who is a shell of what he used to be. We don't need to sacrifice either of our 1st's in a generational draft for a rental. They've got a spare 4th and 5th in 2025. Trade that.

I don’t think the Rangers can afford anyone with term
