I'll say the only move i'd like them to make is LD. I dont think gallant will play jones, and Hajek will get eaten alive out there.
I’m hoping the coaching staff gave Jones some specific things to work on and a target return date. He comes back and if he improved what he was supposed to improve, he continues starting the rest of the season. If not, they reach out for a depth LD assuming they’re in playoff position.
I totally appreciate this his a highly optimistic and speculative scenario.

Seriously, the rent every year when they are in playoff position, and it never gets them over the finish line.

This time will be different, trust me.
I mean look at drurys moves last season, he identified every single flaw we had, and filled it.
We have fewer flaws this season.

Gm’s seem to have realized it’s not the big moves that win cups at the deadline, but the right moves.

If he identified every flaw, wouldn't they have won the cup?

Sarcasm off,

Drury moves so far this year,

Blais is playing.

Added, Carpenter, Trocheck, Vesey.

Waived and lost Hunt, traded Reaves

Demoted Jones, promoted Brodzinski, Harpur.

Waived Carpenter.

Kravtsov still not playing.

All in all, I'm not overly optimistic.

I liked the Vesey signing, he's a plug yet versatile. Trocheck I think is better than Strome, yet that contract is not very good.

Reaves should never have been extended in the first place, Carpenter not signed, which would have let them keep Hunt. (or maybe Motte)

I don't think them renting is a good plan, what does it really do? Allow them to not play some younger player and still not win the Cup?

Because then we had injuries in the playoffs? Lindgren and strome getting hurt absolutely wrecked us.

Of the moves this season Carpenter,Trocheck,Vesey - You like 2 of the 3, and the third is gone because we now have enough depth not to need him.

Kratsov not playing isn't drury, its gallant.

you can say that for every team that makes trades at the deadline but doesn't win the cup, doesn't mean it's not worth it to add rentals.
Depends, a real contender should probably not lose to say Chicago, Anaheim, other teams who are pretty much tanking by management?

We'll see what they do, I've stated that before. It makes a difference if they are consistently beating playoffs teams or not at that time. Last year they mostly were even if imperfect. I thought they had a good deadline in terms of both price and fit. Adding a Kane or whatever to this version as they stand is different so far.

Every team has injuries

Coaching is not going to be a net positive.

I have no issue with Vesey other than him playing above where he should

Trocheck in my opinion is fine,

It's more whatever made them believe the slowest 4th line in the league with Reaves/Carpenter/whomever was going to be good, I assume that was a choice they made as an organization. It leaves me with little confidence they will get the rest right.

Already they are counting on Goodrow to be more than he is, Krav might help there yet they are not willing to see if he can.

It took them this long to put there #1, #2 picks on a legit scoring line, and don't say Panarin, he's a one man thing no matter what.

This current roster is about as close as they have so far put together that makes sense. Maybe they do it on purpose, yet to me it seems really inefficient.

I’m not trading either of this years firsts under any circumstances. Too much talent in the draft this year. Draft correctly and you will have two young studs showing up just when some of the Rangers vets start to age out.

Look at what Colorado did last years with two seconds and a prior year pick.

If it’s absolutely necessary to trade a first, trade 2024.
Preach it

I’d actually like another first round pick or two possible.

All this team needs is for the kids to step up and produce.

If from here on out, they produce at a .5 pt per game clip and we get normal production from the big boys, we will not need any rentals

Let the kids play

They should sell instead to reap the exhorbitant overpayment rewards.

It should be discussed because they have two first round picks and are incredibly likely to deal one whether you want them to or not.
Would be dumb though

I'll preach on

Yes play the kids, all of them

The vets can be good too, figure out how to integrate both camps.

Selling is probably not happening, the East other than two teams is likely going to come down to like 7 teams who think they have a shot in the 3 to 10 spots.

What they in my opinion should do, if and only if they are in solid playoff position,

"Buy" someone who can be there for the very least next year too.

Blias, Vesey are going to be UFAs. Goodrow is a buyout candidate. If they'd play Krav maybe they only need to fill one of those spot, if he fails, both spots.

Renting for a couple months is dumb, buying a year(s) at a decent cap hit is a much better idea.

The Kravtsov debate on here seems to be neglecting the main point for Gallant. Coach’s number 1 objective right now is getting the four lines to continuously play the right way e.g. manage the puck well, play more north/south, win more battles in the blue paint, etc. all season we’ve done a terrible job of playing a full 60 with all the Is dotted and Ts crossed.

I think Kravtsov has been very responsible on the ice but if you put him in top 9 role. You are likely moving Goody down and scratching brodzinski, only because the two top nine spots that make the most sense for Kravtsov belong to Goody and Vesey. Both of them PK. So both are staying in the lineup. They would just be moved down to the 4th line for VK to play. So then one of the 4th liners would have to sit. Brodzinski is the most likely candidate, followed by Gauth or Blais. TBH gauth and Blais provide a ton of size and unexpected skill for a fourth line and I think Gallant prefers to play them as their effectiveness increases the rest of the lineups effectiveness. Unfortunately, none of those guys on our 4th line PK either. So again, to get Kravtsov in, you have to break up the 4th line. Finally I think Galkant prefers to take away Panarin toys at 5v5. Chytil is very N/S as is Goody. And Panarin has been the worst at forcing passes and turning pucks over. I thino Gallant is trying to minimize that issue. In addition, Chytil is only meh in his own zone. Playing him with Bread is a big risk. Having Goody play chaperone makes more sense than Kravtsov. Kravtsov should not be asked to babysit as it neuters his game just like it neutered Kakko to play with Bread and Strome. Goody also takes draws and can spot in at times for Chytil if nec.

So there are a lot of legit reasons why Kravtsov is odd man out right now. Team is still needing to solidify identity, d coverage and playing style. So yeah, are Kravtsov’s underlying numbers strong, yup. Are they stronger than others, yes. Do they need to play him? Yup!! But while the ship is still being righted I get why Goody and Vesey are where they are. Now if any one of Kravtsov, Gauthier, Blais or laffy could start PKing, it might help VK get more time. Honestly I’d love to see VK PK. I think he’d be great at it. That would solve a bunch of problems.
Nope...Goodrow was doing really well in the bottom 6, Kravtsov was playing well in the top 6, we were winning with that lineup...makes 0 sense at all.

The Rangers don't have much to sell because all of their players are signed long term. Lindgren would be the best candidate if the Rangers were in the sell mode.

I hate rentals.

New York Rangers, prioritizing the Blais', Gauthier's, and Brodzinki's instead of their top ten picks since 1963.

Cups since 1963: One.
