He seems like a guy that’s going to benefit from staying in the AHL for a bit of time. Seems more like a project then someone you throw into the NHL right away. 0 % chance IMO.
But wouldn’t he have a much quicker path to the NHL since he would mainly be in the NHL due to his tough guy enforcer style of play

He'd get destroyed by other veteran tough guys in the NHL. He's still a kid. I don't think he was a fighter up until recently. There is 0 need to bring him up at this point. The Rangers just traded Reaves. They dont need another "enforcer". Goodrow/Trouba handle themselves just fine. Let him develope.

Cuylle is another guy that seems to be doing well with some bite in his game. I wonder if he will get a look this season too.

What’s the Gavrikov and Nyqvist 50 off cost ?

Kravtsov and Jones may be of interest for JD?
1 plus picks ?

- If people can get over the fact that Brodzinski has a track record as an AHL scorer not good enough to provide offense at the NHL level, they'll realize that he's probably a better option on the 4th line than Carpenter, and perhaps even Blais the way Sammy has been playing. He at least has league average speed which those other two (And Gettinger) do not.

- Hajek hasn't sucked as bad but he is still very clearly the weak link on defense and absolutely cannot be out there in must win playoff situations. A 3LD is ticket item one at the deadline. Ideally one who can play the PK so we can reduce our reliance on Fox in that situation for playoff TOI management

- The Laf-Zib-Kakko line has people excited because of the prospects for improving the offense from our two young draft picks, but it should also be exciting people based on the opportunity for 'spreading the offense' over 3 lines the way we have failed to do for many years. 3 legitimate scoring lines is a huge boost. Look at Colorado the past two seasons. If Panarin clicks with Chytil, then you just have to figure out Trocheck's line.

- Kreider doesn't need to play first line minutes to be effective. What we saw with last night's alignment is that a lot of Kreider and Trocheck's even strength minutes that they usually see in the top 6 went to Chytil, which to me is just fine- Chytil doesn't get much special teams time and frankly he's an even strength player at his best. Kreider and Trocheck are each going to get 2-6 bonus minutes per game just by virtue of being important special teams guys.

- We've been leaning too heavily on the top guys for minutes. We're more top heavy this season than last. NYR need to find combinations that allow the 4th line to not be a drag on the lineup.

For all the teams struggles so far the shopping list really is only two items- One Braun and one Vatrano type trade. Injuries could impact this but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

it's an answer not tied to reality

Sure it is. Hard but not completely out of the realm of reality. Most of those guys are currently on our roster right this minute.

We need to hit on those draft picks, that is not easy.

When do we start talking about moving Blais for deadline cap space like we did with Reaves? We are going to need a forward and a defensemen at the deadline.

I feel for the guy but its not working out and we need to get Kravtsov in the lineup

I think we have the cap space we are going to need unless the plan is to go big game hunting AND add more like last year.

IMO they'd rather wait on Blais and see if he finds his game (Guys like him playing well are very helpful to grind things out in the playoffs)

Boston is probably going to win the cup this season and NYR have to build a team that can beat them

Im envisioning a Gauthier-Goodrow-Motte 4th line in the playoffs. Speed and physicality

No, it's much closer to 'out of the realm of reality'.

It's blind optimism in this org to not only draft a center and then develop one.... but you want two. That's borderlining on absurd for this org.

We received two lottery picks. Turned out terrible for us so far, not to the fault of the prospects IMO.

If we draft a Center this draft and he develops in Juniors or NCAA, great... Take 2-3 years to grow. I don't want anymore young, under developed kids on the big team. They should never be relied upon... If it happens, it should be in a surplus/surprise scenario.

With Chytil back, the room is definitely crowded again. Two forward scratches last night and Brod played over Carpenter, so I doubt he is going anywhere.

Wonder if we get something on this today. Odd man out would have to be Carpenter. Brodzinski plays his same roll, but is better at it. Makes 12.5K more against the cap, but that is nothing. Kravtsov was just playing and probably only came out because of Chytil coming back, which shouldn't have happened. He at least provide a top 9 forward option if someone goes down, the rest are 4th liners.

Yeah, this isn't true

He had one season with good scoring results where he shot 26%. His possession numbers have been below average every year. xG for the most part bad. Has zero impact on any form of special teams. He was never any good. Just has the reputation from one playoff run where he was stapled to ROR/Perron and they won a Stanley cup. The typical bad player who fools people into thinking he's good because he can be noticeable (hits a lot), is a "winner", and had one year of a ridiculous sh%.

Both Brod and Carpenter should be scratched and Kravtsov in, but that would put us below the 5 4th liner minimum established by the organization

He's not a bad player, atleast he wasnt until his compounding injuries and to be honest i like him on the 4th line right now

Gallant is so close. Send Carpenter to the moon, have Blais and Brodzinski fight for the 12th man role, put Goodrow back at 4C where he can excel, and put Kravtsov back in the lineup at 2RW.
Maybe GG is doing a old gladiator competition between Brod and Blais
