This core is too good for this, and this will be the core for years because of those contracts. I just hope Drury doesn't do any hasty "repair" moves at the deadline. Like trading away those 2 first rounders. It sounds like this will be a deep draft.

I have full trust still that our youngsters will get better over time. But not sure if Gallant is still the right guy for that. He seems to be too stubborn at times.

So disappointed with Miller’s year.

Would like to see him get an extended look away from Trouba and see if he improves.

If he doesn’t he could be the guy that it would be ballsy to trade. Getting some Skjei flashbacks.
Problem is, it’s hard to properly assess individual talent when you can insert the sentence “has been disappointing this year” next to nearly every player and coach on the roster.

Trouba's post mortem last night was very disturbing. His remarks and responses point to a divided locker room. Perhaps Strome and Reaves meant more than meets the eye. Trouba on one side, Panarin on the other. Kreider and Zib a 3rd faction.

I hope Drury learns from Gorton's mistake. When you have locker room issues, get rid of all of the problems. Don't keep one side and get rid of the other and make it look like you're choosing sides.

That's a bingo.

Who hasn't been disappointing this year outside of Gauthier and maybe Fox?

how do you do that when the problems have full NMC's? If the issues are mika and ck and panarin, they're not accepting moves anywhere that we can afford to move them.
There are exactly 2 teams with enough cap space to take 1-2 of those contracts without retention.

I’m hoping Brodzinski gets a look next game and they sit Blais

Blais has been awful. It’s not his fault with the injury but I honestly don’t even care what happens with him. I’d rather they just waive him so I don’t have to be reminded that we choose his mediocre 4th line ass over someone else in that Buch trade

If that’s the case, that basically means getting rid of the entire team 😂
Fine by me. Fox and Lindgren are the only players I'd keep. I'm taking calls on everyone else.

I want a 2023 offseason that makes the 2011 Flyers offseason blush

Demote or scratch them until they ask out. Have the new coach embarrass them and call them out for their piss poor efforts.

I'm still furious about the trade.

I hope Buchnevich scores 100 points every season for the next decade to remind them how stupid it was.

Really tired of hearing how it was about cap space. Buch's cap hit is 5.8M. They would have had that easy moving on from Strome a year early (which would have opened up a scoring role for Chytil last year) and not signing Goodrow, which still DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. Then they would have had more cap space this year by NOT SIGNING TROCHECK, but they'd still have Buchnevich.

You can find players to fill out the bottom 6 by looking around the NHL scrap heap or calling up fringe prospects (see Jimmy Vesey). This is what literally every successful team does - and they invest in their core ONLY - in the cap era, and this team stupidly continues to try and build the roster from the top and bottom, and work towards the middle.

And if the 4th line looks like shit? I legitimately do not care. When was the last time the team with the skill of a Colorado, or a last decade Pittsburgh, or a Boston, or even a late 00's San Jose lost in the playoffs and ANYONE was ever like...you know why they lost? Cuz their 4th line sucks.

No, it's always goaltending, lack of star scoring, lack of secondary scoring, shitty special teams, or shitty team defense.

Hell, Colorado won a Cup last year, and they're not above claiming Dryden Hunt who we had no place for. But the difference is they drafted and developed 4 all world talents that are now leading their offense.

An observation on our current PP.....Worst move on ice most nights ...Fox hard pass while on PP to Kreider who is standing flat footed to the goalies left side and his stick pointing towards corner ...receives hard pass....takes a second to right it on his stick...rotates around to get an angle on the goalie and shoots into pads again...wash -rinse -repeat that move 3-5 more times per game .

It is almost as predictable as watching Mika for the one timer . These guys have to change things up . Myself...I stick Gauthier out in the crease for a couple of PP chances. I'm not a big fan of guys standing off to the side...get in the crease in the goalies face and work some dmen and then move in and out and around......do not just stand there . The D will give you that spot all night off to the side . OTOH.....you get whacked way less off to the side then in the actual crease .

Our PP right now needs more effort on the hard side of the puck . Give Gauthier a shot......what can it hurt ?

Honestly, the first and easiest message to send is bench all four forwards on PP1 and replace them with PP2.

Tough to put a finger on what's going on here.

PP2 has no real coaching its just a bunch of guys with no real structure. How that has been allowed to happen is beyond me. This situation is such a mess through and through. The coaching stinks and that is one huge reason for this mess.

The country club atmosphere is back. Nothing will change until they ship out a core vet or two. You hear all the time how great the amenities at NYR are. Fine, if you don’t play hard and listen to your coach, you’re out. Enjoy the amenities in Arizona.
Gorton really f***ed us here with the NMC's. Panarin should be the one dealt but it's going to be Chytil or Kakko instead. I'd trade Lafreniere before either of them truthfully.

Trading Adam Fox before his NMC kicks in because no other option to fix cap would be very dark, but is that their only out?

I thought Trouba has a NTC not a NMC for some reason. Man we really are stuck with this core

As sad as it is to think about id trade Igor before him. I dont think its a route we should go but if it needs to be done id say a 1d is more important than a 1G

Igor probably could get traded too; I don’t think he gets another contract either way. But teams rarely get good value trading goalies.

I’m looking at the roster and they’re going to have to move a LW at some point. Whether that be Kreider, Panarin or Laf

Ohtmann plays the left too and if they like him as much as believed, something has to give

Here's my shit take as armchair GM for the day that won't happen.

Move one of of KK, Laf, Chytil this summer. Get a 1st. Then put in all kinds of caveats in the trade agreement . If said player does well, secondary pieces come back via picks in 2023 draft commensurate with their performance on new team..

So if one of the 3 traded busts out with new team at least you are not rolling the dice on just one 1st in 2022.
