Take 2 seconds to look at Kassian's contract and you'll know the answer to that question.
wow I thought Kassian was UFA. Anyways he is more useful than Blais.

I still think the Rangers should target Domi at the deadline.

Domi To Rangers fits needs. Faster skater. Quick, tenacious has grit and is a nutcase at times like his dad was.

Domi for Blais and 2ed in 23?

I still think Blais I a terrific fit for the 4th line. He has decent hands and is pretty physical. If given half way decent linemates like Goodrow and Gauthier I can see him contributing more on the scoresheet.

Our 4th line is pretty much the only light in a pretty dark room that is the last 10-12 games. They've been good (Blais, Carpenter/Goodrow, Gauthier)

The fourth line is very obviously not the problem with the team right now, though I know Hartford is looking rough and after Brodzinski we might not have anyone who can even play at a Ryan Carpenter "exist on NHL ice" level if we have a few injuries

Being a top 4 guy on a team that lets up high quality chances left and right doesn’t mean that much. It’s not just about being physical though. He is frequently out of position. I prefer defensemen who are where they need to be on the ice on a more consistent basis. One of Miller’s bigger strengths I think would be exhibited on the PP, but he’s not going to get much opportunity there. Fox has that privilege on PP1 locked up for the next decade.

I’ll reiterate that my [strong] preference is a coaching change before trading anyone, but I really don’t see Drury canning Gallant. Not this season anyway.
Remember that Miller was a converted forward and hasn't been playing the position that long. I think Dennis Potvin once said that d-men need at least 300 games in the NHL before you can properly evaluate them

I know you have an anti-Kreider hard-on, but if we're looking at expensive wingers blocking the youth the problem is clearly Panarin. We got 1 year of him being a true difference maker, and he's been nothing but a perimeter passer since the Wilson incident, and perhaps even before that imo.

19.6 mil tied up in 2 nightly disappointments in Panarin & Trouba is the real problem. Kreider is underpaid for his contributions this year (36 goal, 69 point pace) and last

Fair enough. I view Kreider as too one dimensional to justify his salary but it is true that Panarin is making twice as much. I viewed him as a true superstar that the team desperately needs but you are right that he is not giving us the dynamism that we came to expect from his first two seasons here.

$6m is moveable, though, $12m might not be.

Not that I really need to defend Kreider more but the last thing he is is one dimensional. He plays every situation and all 3 zones well at ES (@Machinehead posted the charts earlier). He scores all his goals on deflections and tap in's but pacing as a 30 goal scorer as he enters his 30s I dont really care how they go in.

But I digress. The team desperately needs a new coach that won't defer to the veterans like Gallant does. He's like the anti-Quinn in that he lets them do whatever they want and DQ tried to control everything but didn't have the experience or respect of the players for them to actually listen. If the new coach comes in and nothing changes, Drury & The Dark Lord Sather are going to push Panarin out this offseason. The seeds were planted last summer when Drury was upset with his play in the postseason (valid criticism) and they sent his BFF packing.

Ive been critical of the Kids and they have not been great, but you cant give up on 21-22 year old's if you're the Rangers. I keep harping on it, but 11.6 for this version of Panarin is something no team can win with. When was the last time we said he was the best player for us in a game? He plays with Chytil and Kakko and they change their game to get the puck to him and it dies on his stick. The powerplay is so predictable because he NEVER shoots (and where would his point totals be last year if Kreider wasnt white hot with deflections? I assume theyd look a lot like this years numbers). Something really needs to change soon or the season will go down the tubes and the finger will (and should) be pointed at the highest paid player on the team having his 3rd straight "nothing special" year.

I would think Rhydal and Johnny B would be fine. I liked Johny B last season and he honestly should have had a chance at the job over carpenter. Rhydal also had a much better camp and preseason than carpenter as well and i believe that both ryhdal and johnny b should be up here swapping playing time. Carpenter is a waste and really doesnt add anything to this team. We had to play him in order to try to justify giving him a contract

I could see the arguments against Panarin. I also think we can't replace Panarin, not even this version of him. So it's kind of a tough situation.

Kreider just absolutely f***s. He has nothing left to give this fanbase. I don't get it.

I hope he never plays a game anywhere else and 20 ends up hanging from the rafters.

The arguments and conjecture about where he should be playing and who should be playing instead of him just blow my mind. Stunning, really.

Alex Formenton is still RFA. Any chance Rangers can get his rights? I’d take the risk with him. he adds size snarl and skill to the top 9. only 23 can play both LW and RW.

Formenton to Rangers for 2ed in 23 and 3rd in 24?

Why are you trading two picks for a guy who is ineligible to play this season?

They sent Strome packing cause he blows on a winning team

Panarin isn’t going anywhere lol. He controls where he goes and no one is taking the contract even if they did want to move him

Rumblings are that he is without a contract due to the severe and ongoing investigations into his seemingly prominent role in the Canada WJC team sexual assault allegations.

With Kreider you’ve basically extracted everything you could possibly want from a 19th OA pick AND he realistically doesn’t even make that much money in the grand scheme of the roster.

Trouba goes long before Kreider does.

Perhaps do a little research before you suggest this in a thread on here…AND creating a thread about it on the main boards. f***ing embarrassing

Ziba body language as says I can’t be bothered with this shit .
Hot take but I think making Trouba captain pissed of Kreider and his boys a lot. I don’t care what Kreider says right now about Trouba to make nice, everything Kreider did and said on and off the ice last year was a big push to get that C on his chest. I think that part of the issue is the boys don’t respect Trouba as much as they say they do. Understandably so, especially after some of the absolutely brutal plays Trouba made in the ECF, when it counted most.
