I was responding to a post that asked “would any team take Panarin if part of his salary was retained “.
I get it, but I guess I should have added to that how much retention? 5 percent, 20 percent, 50 percent? The rangers would never retain on that deal for 3 years at any substantial amount so you have to find another team to do it.

Sorry, it was late and I forgot to add that haha

Nah they can’t trust Laf or Kakko yet be honest
Can’t wait for them to breakout
Get Kane and the depth is way better

1st , Kravtsov, Jones on the table
Trotchek can go PP2
Ridiculous
Give up our first in a great draft and kravy?
And for what?
U think kane gets us the cup?
U crazy 🤪
Newsflash
We arent winning with this core
Panarin and trouba have dropped off a cliff and make too much money
I'd hold on to all picks and start looking toward the second window..

The Devils allowed themselves to suck. We were too afraid of wasting the last years of a functional Chris Kreider to finish off our rebuild properly, which included either trading him or playing him lower in the lineup so Kakko, Laf, and Kravtsov could get unearned minutes so they could actually develop.

Kreider should have been traded for the Robertson and a first package. One of the biggest mistakes the team has ever made.
If anyone has a hint Robertson would become what he is he never would have been an option. Hindsight is 20/20 on that, the same way hintz was almost traded.

The stars were two trades away from not being good today, and the funny think is both their offers got rejected so they still have hintz and robertson

I’m not crazy cause it’s gonna happen lol
They have 2 firsts
Copp cost that and Kane is better
I like how you give up after 25 games when this core went to the East finals last year

Hard to imagine that the Rangers biggest need at this point is another finesse player. I would hope Drury is targeting someone a bit tougher to play against than Patrick Kane.
Kane is a finesse winger that has been historically hard to play against bc he WILL go to dirty areas of the ice and he WILL shoot which opens his passing game. That being said he doesn't fix the issues. He would be the ideal rw of the team is married to zib Kreider pairing bc Kane can get the puck through the NZ w control and he loves to cycle the right wall to break down defenses for the backside onetimer which zib would feast one, BUT adding just Kane does nothing to push this team into contender status if they can't address panarin, in the 2nd line mess, defensive depth, and a fourth line upgrade.

Let's just get to a panarin + for Kane trade done somehow ha. Would never happen but one could hope.

I’m not saying both players
Just said on the table
One of Jones /Kravtsov
1st and 3rd is the Giroux deal
You trade Jones and kravtsov all day if you can save both firsts in this draft. All f***ing day

I think we absolutely do need another skill player but I also think Patrick Kane pretty much sucks at this point.
I think skill is different than finesse. I agree we could use a player with a great offensive skill set, I just don’t think they should be a finesse only type of player. I think they should bring some physical attributes to the table and be tough to play against as well.

We need to get tougher to play against by creating more quality chances. Our offense sucks.

Whether or not that's "finesse" seems like a pointless label but I would definitely focus on hands and passing over anything else. We struggle at those attributes aside from Panarin.

Kane does have that but he's just an absolute bomb at even strength. You're playing 4v5 in two zones.

Rangers were 29% on faceoff wins tonight against the Senators. 29%. They have been outdrawn every game this season by the opposing team. It’s a recurring theme. They are horrible in the faceoff dots all season.

As others have said, that is not true, but the faceoff issue is getting worse. Out of curiosity, I looked up the last time the Rangers won more faceoffs than they lost, and it was Nov. 12 against Nashville (26-25) and the last time the Rangers won the faceoff battle decisively was Nov. 8 against the Islanders (32-24). There were several recent games where the faceoffs were just about even, and I wouldn't say we had a bad night in the faceoff circle if we lose only one or two more than we win. One or two draws isn't likely to make a huge difference in the game.

As a whole, the team started out great on faceoffs for most of October, and throughout November has been regressing. Last night was particularly bad because Ottawa is a top 5 team on faceoffs. Nobody had a good night. Chytil was 0-12, which doesn't happen often. You would think that in 12 chances, you could at least win one by accident.

Just for the purposes of discussion, what are the rules regarding NYR promoting Brennan Othmann to the NHL mid season

Trochek has been nursing an injury for a bit and part of the reason the team was winning more faceoffs was him. If he isn't 100%, they may either be sheltering him from taking too many or he may not be able to be as effective. I am thinking this is one of the reasons for the drop in FO%

If these boys ccould play a bit more physical in games ...Kreider-Blais-Gauthier--Kakko/Laff......we would be harder to play against and pound defenses . Same goes for Miller /Schneider on the back end...especially Miller . Trouba and Lindgren are good at it already despite being hurt right now . We get all those guys flexing and we have a totally different hockey club on the ice . We would create many more scoring chances and would not lose near as many foot races . If Gallant can just reach even 3 of those forwards to provide more....we are better . It's a simple thing one would think ?

We would need to be on our third emergency recall.

WHO CAN BE RECALLED ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS?

Anyone in the minors on an NHL contract can be recalled on an emergency basis, and teams are usually going to be recalling from their AHL affiliate.

Once a team hits their third emergency recall, as the Penguins already have this season, the rules change.

The NHL and CHL leagues have a transfer agreement that prevents 18- and 19-year-old juniors-eligible players from being assigned to the minors. Teams can keep these players on their NHL roster for the full year or return them to their junior teams, where they must stay for the remainder of the juniors season.

Unless a team hits their third emergency recall. Then, per the NHL and CHL transfer agreement, the team is allowed to bring a player back from juniors.

At what point do the Rangers just waive Carpenter hoping so as to allow them to shuttle him on paper back and forth from Hartford on off-days? If the goal is cap space, this would appear to be one of the easiest methods.

Also, shuttling Jones back and forth would be helpful, although that would have a negative effect on his actual take-home pay whereas Carpenter's would not.

I am not sure any player on the team right now is healthy. Trocheck and Trouba are clearly hurt. Kreider may be as well. Lindgren always is so I guess that doesn't really change anything. We all know about Krav. Panarin I don't think is hurt, like last postseason, I think this is just how he plays now. As if he is hurt. Blais is clearly not what he was before the knee injury and it still bothers him. Thats a lot. I'd rather they just sat out if they can't play.

Giroux is an elite faceoff guy, but that is still not good

Kane avoids the corners like Gallant avoids injury questions

Whoever posted earlier that the Rangers were 29% in faceoffs yesterday was correct. Unless the home Sens data folks were fudging the numbers.

No single player would help this team short of a McDavid. Even then, it wont make a cup difference

Even when we had Copp, Vatrano and Motte... That one little spurt post TDL quickly went away when the playoffs began. Our 5v5 game was an embarrassment, yet we found ways to win ( PP and Shesty predominantly ).

The system is the issue. We are playing dated hockey and we're not even executing that dated hockey system to a high level. So, we're at a double handicap. We're as good as the 'individual' any given game. We are not a team.

The league has advanced considerably. We have not. A team of 5 that works well together and as a unit will beat us 9 out of 10 times, unless there's a herculean effort by certain individuals. That is not a recipe for success imo
