No doubt. But sometimes the vets have to go into the coach's office and say, "Hey I want to play with X and I think he deserves a shot here." Every few weeks, Laf or Kakko get a couple games in the top-six, then its back to the bottom-six while while some no-name JAG (Vesey, Blais, Goodrow, Hunt, Blackwell, McKegg) who is clearly in over his head gets an extended look. It's insanity, and I wonder if it's coming in part from the vets.
I agree with this to a degree, for sure.

Its like they put Kakko up, the put Laf up. What is the magic output that needs to occur to keep them there indefinitely? Whats the reward/incentive for these kids if everytime they get a shot, in 3-4 games or less they go back to where they were?

Like "oh!. this is it now! This is the line!" is it 10 goals in 3 games for the line? Is it consistent dominance that needs to happen for a month? Is it something specific from Kakko/Laf hes not seeing? Its not like we see it with the Veseys, Blackwells and Hunts...

How do they climb the ladder if there is no top to reach

I've stopped looking for rationales from imbeciles. We can play this game forever as long as Gallant is here, and not only regarding the kids. Gallant will always fall back on "I'm trying to win hockey games" or something like that if questioned. The kids even say "the line wasn't effective enough" (Kakko being dropped from the 1st line) or "I have to be better", so that's what they are told by the coaches, but those criteria never apply to the vets. Shoot this moron into the sun already.

Not just Gallant, every coach we ever had. So whats the common denominators....look up.....waaaaaayyyy up. I've said it before the problem top to bottom of this org is patience, and it comes from Dolan and Sather.

it's a depressing thought... but more and more i'm getting the impression that Strome was a leader on this team.

Panarin isn't the same without him. I like Trochek and i'm glad hes here, but he's a different player than Strome.

So went to dinner tonight w the new wife and daughter in law...

We pull into the garage and the daughter sees the NYR Stanley Cup Banner... hangin big and proud & asks:

"Look at those dates!

And you still support that team?!?! LOL"

Panarin and Chytil

Auston Matthews

who says no? This is assuming 2 massive things. Panarin waives. AM34 hints he's not re-signing.

You know who would have been a better signing than Carpenter? Former teammate of Kravtsov Lukas Sedlak.

Since drafting Leetch in 1986, our top 10 draftees are:

2020: Lafreniere 1
2019: Kakko 2
2018: Kravtsov 9
2017: Lias 7
2010: McIlrath
2004: Montoya
2001: Blackburn
1999: Brenda 4 and Lundmark 9
1998: Malhotra 8
1993: Sundstrom 8
1987: Jay Moore 10

Something is very off here. The current scouts and coaches can't be to blame for what happened 3 decades ago, but there are 9 picks over 34 years and none (so far) are more than third liners.

I don't even think it's ineptitude (except at the very top), it's more that no-one in the organization has any experience or understanding of working with and maximizing young, high-end offensive talent, and so just don't have the skills and attributes to harness it.

We're ok at identifying talent (even if some of it basically demands its way here), and we seem to be able to churn out low top-end and middle-6 forwards pretty regularly. It's just that until recently we've never gone after a 'sure thing' offensive talents, and now that we have we don't know what to do with them.

If the coach is getting strong armed by his players like that then he shouldn't be coaching. Rangers need a Tortorella type coach. No more of these country club hands off coaches.

Here's an idea. For those of you who think the kids line should get more minutes. Move them up to the # 1 line and PP1. This will guarantee a top pick in the draft and Gallant gets fired soon. They just aren't that good to get more minutes.
It's sad that Kakko and Lafreniere are no better than bottom 6 forwards after where they were taken.

If the Rangers lose with the kids leading the way, so be it. They are already losing with the vets. No one thinks the kids are first liners right now. But if anyone thinks the kids can learn how to lead a team from the third line, they haven't been paying attention the last 25 years.
