Here's a question:

Does anyone think any of the vets have ever asked the coaching staff to play with Kakko or Laf instead of Vesey, Goodrow, Blais or whoever. I am trying not to get mad about hypotheticals, but I am having a hard time imagining the vets going to bat for the kids in all of the time they've been here.

Another no state tax beaut. Hintz or Zibs, who would you rather have? Both broke out around the same time, speaking of age.

It's more about the coaching thinking about 'matchups' and defense.

Vesey as a 4th liner is a strong defensive player.... but he's a 4th liner.

It's micromanaging and missing the forest for the trees. Laffy and Kakko have been decent defensively. I've seen the vets have major meltdowns defensively but it's over looked. If a kid did it, it's game over.

Kakko checks all the boxes and has looked great with Zibs. There's no excuse at this point

No doubt. But sometimes the vets have to go into the coach's office and say, "Hey I want to play with X and I think he deserves a shot here." Every few weeks, Laf or Kakko get a couple games in the top-six, then its back to the bottom-six while while some no-name JAG (Vesey, Blais, Goodrow, Hunt, Blackwell, McKegg) who is clearly in over his head gets an extended look. It's insanity, and I wonder if it's coming in part from the vets.

braindead

so Halak will get 2 out of 3? Makes sense, let Shesty dwell on his shit play, that usually helps
How do you not play Shesty wed and saturday? haha it's comical at this point. Whatever.

Genius GG like when he started AG last year vs the Caps opening night

I don't understand why the Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko unit hasn't been put back together. It's obvious Kakko fits that line better than anyone else.
You're expecting rational thoughts and actions from a bunch of irrational people?

I have always been fine with play the veterans up in the lineup and the kids lower, provided the veterans are getting the job done. This season, they havent come close and a change needs to be made.

If Gallant has any desire to delay his firing a little longer he needs to get Lafreniere, Kakko & Kravtsov in the top and start them on the PP over the first unit. Just to see what they can do with a couple weeks with more ice time. if not now, when? Forcefeeding minutes to the veterans when its clearly not working is so illogical at this point. The kids are not finished products, time to actually give them a shot to reach their potential

no doubt Chytil should have been promoted last night. even a Chimp (GG) should have been able to tell he was working his ass off and one of the few players that could actually create thru the neutral zone with his speed.
To see Goodrow over him with a minute left (especially when Trocheck was taking the final faceoff and not Goodrow) was a classic example of what is wrong now.

I hope he realizes that unless he has a three point night tomorrow he will be out by friday night or saturday night the latest with this coach.
That's only if he makes it through the first 6 minutes of the game.

Zibanejad easily

as for Zegras, he was completely invisible in the two games against us. everyone here will just hate him like they hate Panarin now and think up trade offers for middle 6 plugs to get rid of his contract.

Tough choice. Zibanejad can score 50 any given year and is good for about a point per game pace but Hintz is a much better defensive player and playmaker while putting up close to a similar number of points.

nice, 75 points here we come
Or

Nice, some flexibility to address the issues in structure of the roster, an opportunity to get our 1oa pick into a position to succeed finally, shedding of what will soon be an albatross of a contract for a pp specialist.

I am so sick of the panarin excuses. He doesn't work with zib, chytil, laffy, kakko, Kreider, trocheck, ECT. It's always the other guys that are the issue. He apparently only works with strome and loves Colin Blackwell.

Said a week ago I thought trouba has some sort of leg injury bc his mobility is that if girardi right now

Def a possibility on the leg injury thing, but honestly, i almost wouldn't be surprised if it was a back problem. the skating's bad, but his puck-handling has been worse than usual too.

If anything we’ve heard the opposite.

I was really upset last year when I heard Strome and Panarin didn’t want to play with Kakko. How is this supposed to be good for the team if they’re going to do that to him?

You could be right. Either way he just doesn't look comfortable and I think it also contributes to why we haven't seen that consistent mean edge from trouba this season. Something is wrong with him physically and it's kind of nice to see Turk finally acknowledge it

I think the only time they ever speak up is to advocate playing with their little clique partners. So Zibanejad and Kreider will vocalize that they want to be on the ice together, Strome and Panarin vocalized they wanted to be on the ice together but I don't think those clowns have ever said or done anything to support our young players. Panarin only decided he could be a role model when Kravtsov arrived and then only for Kravtsov.

Hintz all day for me... Better at everything but shooting and is a much more physical player.

There have been pictures of him with his hand and wrist wrapped up so that is my guess. Easier to play through as a defenseman as well.

A couple weeks ago they had a camera in the locker room (I think for the Islanders game) and Trouba had his right wrist all taped up.
