$4M-$5M
Dobson at $4M
Sergachev at $4.8M
McAvoy at $4.9M
Vince isn’t breaking any news. Term is an issue. The Rangers can't really afford more than $5M.
We did pretty well with them last year.
Not to mention the impact Lekhonen had on Colorado. They don’t win without him.
Because we can't sign him long term this offseason and make next year's salary cap work, assuming we don't shed a major contract. Why is term an issue? I'll go 8 years on K'Andre.
Miller won't do that. Why is term an issue? I'll go 8 years on K'Andre.
Ugly goals win playoff games
The fancy east/west bullshit does not
Give me a top 10 PP and a team that can score ugly goals, and that team wins a lot more than it loses
We are an underdog, yes.
And if you ask on a board that isn't the Rangers board the results would be overwhelming to that effect.
So..... let's fortify that group because yes, the odds just get better from here.
It's pretty obvious that I do not share the same level of optimism as some here regarding Panarin and Mika leading this team.
I do hope I am wrong, I don't think I am but I do hope I am.
Lekhonen wasn’t a rental.
Why wouldn't he sign a bridge deal and then wait for the cap to go up?Why is term an issue? I'll go 8 years on K'Andre.
Chytil and Trochek are decent depth . Not every team can have MacKinnon - Kadri or Matthews -TavaresPanarin is much more of a concern than Zibanejad. I think we could win with Zibanenad at 1C still. After him we were pretty thin down the middle.
THE TEMPLATEWhat’s the template?
The point here is, don't give up premium assets for rentals unless you are sure you can re-sign them. Otherwise just not worth it. Look at Florida last year. Toronto with Foligno. Waste of 1st rounders. He wasnt a rental but they gave up a 2nd and a good prospect for him when they knew he needed a new contract. Same thing with Manson. They also lost Burakovsky & Kadri in UFA because of the extensions they gave out. Maybe not a rental by definition but the effect on the roster was the same.
THE TEMPLATE
Kreider - Zib - __________
Panarin - Trocheck - _______________
Kids
Goodrow - _____________ - Vesey
Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Trouba
________ - Schneider
How I would fill out the template and would incite a riot if Drury doesn't....
Labanc
TyJo
Bonino
Calle Rosen

I think the Rangers did fairly well last trade line, didn't overpay. Copp was a rental for a 1st, but it was a very late 1st.
Why is term an issue? I'll go 8 years on K'Andre.
Miller won't do that.
He got frame, IQ and hands. That would be enough for me earlier on to support glass-half full positive bias about his development, thinking the other areas will catch up at some point. However the lack of any progress at this point makes me a lot more pessimistic. The fact that it is in large part self-inflicted makes it more bitter.
Lekhonen wasn’t a rental.
Sam Rosen was on Scott Laughton show yesterday and even though I love Sam it sickened me to hear him defend the kids development by saying “the Rangers have done a great job turning these kids into 200 foot players”I rarely listen to content like this, feel like there’s not much to learn. I thought the part about Laf was interesting though.
I think this is open to interpretation of course, but what I heard is that the team knows that Laf doesn’t skate well enough to do the Huberdeau type stuff he did in Junior and they are trying to turn him into a net front, grinding type to compensate.
This tracks with what I’m seeing. It’s going to feed the narrative that they are actively ruining him. If this is true he needs to be traded while he still has pedigree/brand name value, unless they think the skating can improve.
One has to wonder how long this has been the assessment and what the team and the player have done to fix the skating problem. This feels like it should be organizational priority number one to me.
Lehkonen was an RFA. When a guy is an RFA, he's not a rental. Maybe you don't re-sign him, but then you most likely trade him to recoup some assets. He was when they traded for him. He didn’t have a contract during the playoffs. The fact that they kept him afterwards is pretty irrelevant.
