Can’t hide from it. He’s been terrible.

Luckily this league is full of people who don’t know what they are doing. We can probably get a nice package for him.

Devils fan here.

I’ve seen the Rangers connected to Meier in rumors, do you think this would be a pure rental, or that they would try to extend him?

I think a Meier rental could be worth it, especially if you can recapture some value in an off season trade, but I wasn’t sure if an extension was realistic with Miller Laf and Chytil needing new deals.

Just curious what you guys think.

It would have to be.

He has a 10M QO next year and they don't have the space to extend him long term anyway (a long term deal would come in at less than 10M/Yr, but they aren't going to be working with enough space to make something work there with out something crazy happening.)

Friedman saying Stevie Y is having difficulty getting a deal done with Larkin. Cant believe the best GM in Hockey cant get his homegrown captain under contract

Thats a big add to the FA market this summer. There’s like no mention of Larkin in the trade rumors. If Stevie Yzerman can’t get him signed I would assume he’s going to enter the market. Of so, he may be the biggest name available.

Detroit also has Bertuzzi expiring as well. In total the Red Wings have 11 UFA’s at the end of this season.

When rebuilding goes wrong. Seider is solid but in a sophomore slump and you don’t hear much of Raymond as you did last year. Who else is there? Lots of big signings gone bad, Bertuzzi can’t stay healthy, goaltending a mess now this. Y should’ve stayed in Florida with no state income tax

I remember telling everyone on here that Larkin should be the guy we look to trade for, just an older version of Hughes lol. But i got shit on for it saying why would Larkin want to leave when their rebuild is going so well. I said he wouldnt want to be on the wings bc they are rebuilding, and he doesnt want to waste his prime not winning or going for the chance at a cup.

Look at everyone now, finally seeing the light
Edge when he was on the board said Larkin was the Rangers #1 target via trade. They were in on him for a while. Team is locked up now so I’m assuming that won’t be the case anymore.

Frank and Mike McKenna discussed Gavrikov. He is #4-#6 D. He is not very physical D. Smart with puck. Defends well. McKenna isn't convinced Gavrikov is worth a #1 pick. TB gave up a 1st and 3rd Savard and a 4th for double retention. That was a big price.

Elliotte and Jeff said Columbus have given teams permission to speak with Gavrikov. Third pair D on a Cup winning team. Gavrikov is looking for a big contract. Maybe teams don't want to pay the price for a rental and Columbus said you can talk to him in a sign and trade.

They also discussed Georgiev's inconsistency.

Sam and Joe were all over Gavrikov when the team played the Jackets. I think he took a puck to the chin and played through it. Sam was drooling about it.

They were the same way with Kane though. Actually they were over the top with Kane.

I always wonder if they know something or if they just see the rumors And talk the players up.

I think the Sharks are shopping an extended Meier (on an agreement, at least) as it will bring them more of a return. That said, I could imagine the rangers doing some gymnastics to try to acquire him that way. Maybe they send Goodrow and Chytil back, it might add up. I really don’t know.
As a rental, i can’t see the rangers offering enough to tempt the sharks.
Personally I’d just stay away altogether.

Dude is putting up Lafreniere numbers. You sure?

Well, first, I’m not one of the people who is completely out on Lafreniere. I’m just concerned about his development and think it needs intervention to get to where we need him to be.

Second, Lundell has a 44 point season under his belt in just 65 games.

Third, we need Lafreniere to be a superstar whereas, especially if he and Kakko do ascend to that, Lundell could either be your Stepan like 1C of the future, or, your high end 2C.

He’s a non elite young player who fits our need at center in a very flexible way and, while extraordinarily expensive in trade I am sure, is probably not in either an “untouchable” camp if you overpay nor is he even in a “superstar package” camp like say a Jack Eichel.

And if Florida underachieves and misses the playoffs they might be looking for a shakeup if some sort that you could find them open to a more drastic than normal deal.

Sam doesn’t know what's going on. Last night, he said the Rangers-Leafs game is a TNT game and it will be played tomorrow night. The game isn’t tonight. It's on Wednesday night.

If Florida underachieves they ain't moving Lundell who is making no money. You want Bennett, Verhaege or Reinhart? I'm sure theyd listen. Also with Lundell the shine is a bit off him, he would also be the 4th best center on the team and we're already not playing a better player in Chytil enough.

Id be more interested in their LTIR'd guys at the deadline tbh. I've always liked Hornqvists game but he is banged up and possibly washed.

Duclair is a very good fit (in theory) if the Rangers want to tweak the lines and put Kreider with Trocheck and move Goodrow to the 4th where he is at his best. Duclair is a solid finisher and a talent who should be able to play with Panarin & Zibanejad. Definitely hesitant based on the Achilles injury, after what happened to Patches, and the extra year on his contract though. You could probably get either for next to nothing based on Florida's cap issues.

If the playoffs end up,in disappointment and Panarin shits the bed again, he will be shopped. Heavily
I'd hope so. No doubt he has been amazing in the regular season, but two years in a row of disengaged, one-sided playoff hockey will be too much for me. No matter a PPG or not.

Again, it's not to dismiss Artemi's world class talent. He can do things other players simply cannot with the puck, but he's become a very one-dimensional player on a premier player salary.

This may sound a little crazy... but what if we sold Art on the idea of waving his NMC by telling him we'd package him with Kravtsov wherever they go? Would a Panarin + Kravtsov package entice anyone? Especially out West?

I wish there was a way to go get Lundell from Florida. Jones and a first.
I think a lot of us saw that as a great pipe dream in the summer especially with a Lundkvist trade looming. Someone mentioned it, but even now it would be hard to see Larkin getting here without giving up Chytil. And honestly, I'm not sure how a Larkin deal and extension works here without giving up either Art, or Zbad.

This is more evident then ever. I love these guys, I was young but didn't know if I'd like Michelleti after JD leaving, but they were great for years. Now it's very in and out. Sam can be really good at times still, but others he's just out in left field. It's bad more than it's good at this point haha.

Ok to start out , WHAT NEED AT CENTER?
We are the deepest at center we've been since probably the late 90's.
We have a legit number 1 (top 10 in the league) center.
We have a young, talented center who's performing like a top 2 center, and looking like he could take one more step and develop into a top line center or a 1B center.
We have a vet N/S center who can chip in offense, and also provide solid defense, and he can play 2c if we need.

This is the first time we've actually ever had 3 deep centers that I can remember.

Chytil simply needs to be locked up, which shouldn't be too hard.
The rangers have a single need in the top 9, and thats get vesey out of it.

Two thirty year olds. I’d like to have another for the future on hand. We also could use another top 9 forward even right this instant, so, win win.

Who cares their age. They are both signed for the next 5 years at least to big contracts with NmCs or TCs We have no opening in the near future for a Center.

We need a RW. Like yesterday.

We have nothing to offer for Lundell unless you are offering our young players/prospects, and why is Florida trading him? He's a regular in their lineup on an ELC for another year.

They might listen if your offer includes taking Bob.

would Vancouver do Podkolzin or Hoglander one for one for Kravtsov? I doubt it
Whether they would or not, does it really do anything for us? I'd rather just keep the guy we know and hope he breaks out, rather than make a trade just for the sake of making a trade and hope Hoglander or Podkolzin breaks out.

It's not realistic. The Rangers won't trade for him as a pure rental. The cost just wouldn't justify it. And we really don't have any realistic way to sign him long term.

But there's nowhere for him to play right now. None of Zib, Trouba or Chytil are going anywhere.

And Florida has no incentive to move him. It would take a large overpayment. They need young guys producing on ELCs like every other team. A late 1st + Jones doesn't do it.

They need more production out of elc’s than we do.
