Well we couldn’t afford Miller either way. But for someone like Batherson, that would be a solid trade imo. We’d have to then trade another winger for a defenseman tho

We definitely couldve afforded Miller for the 1.5 year contract he is currently on. He's making less than Trocheck right now. Happy to have avoided the mistake but it was definitely in play

I think offseason preparation is a big part of the equation. Folks have short memory issues in these parts but there were enough stretches last year where Lafreniere looked very good himself as well as in comparison to older Kakko. Scoring 19 ES goals last season wasn't a small feat and did get notice around the league. Unfortunately, IMO long season, successful finish and public accolades contributed to Lafreniere taking it easy in the offseason (Vally made somewhat similar implications). It should be a le$$on learned resulting in a cheap bridge deal - surely not what Lafreniere wanted / expected. We've seen a significant improvement in Kakko's game as he clearly worked hard in the offseason. I expect to see a similar if not more significant improvement in Lafreniere next year. I have a lot more faith in his commitment than Kravtsov's for comparison but maybe I will be surprised with the Russian too. Unfortunately, this development won't help the team much the rest of this season and playoffs.
Agreed.

McAllister kid is interesting for sure. For the other 2, I have my doubts about Drury's eagerness to turn to Europe and Asia for answers to the teams woes. Hasn't been working out lately. Haha

Maybe he can trade with the Sabres for Taro Tsujimoto

I remember hearing on 32T during the summer, Yzerman got sticker shock after the deals to Robert Thomas, Jordan Kyrou, Tage Thompson and JT MIller.

I remember telling everyone on here that Larkin should be the guy we look to trade for, just an older version of Hughes lol. But i got shit on for it saying why would Larkin want to leave when their rebuild is going so well. I said he wouldnt want to be on the wings bc they are rebuilding, and he doesnt want to waste his prime not winning or going for the chance at a cup.

Look at everyone now, finally seeing the light

So trade Schnieder who is really coming into his own for Batherson who i love, who makes more money, then to have to make another deal to get a legit dman back and we are stuck with trouba longer than we wanted bc we have no replacement for him. Rob Peter to pay Paul. What a flurry of trades we would then have to make.

Sadly we’re stuck with Trouba no matter what.

For another year or 2 yes. That allows time for Schnieder and Key to come into their own. Im fine with this. If Trouba really is injured and its been affecting his play, its been on the coach to sit his ass down until healthy and isnt a detriment.

Less about Miller or Schneider and more about who the hell are we gonna trade him to

And if the reports are true that he has been badly hurt and playing this way the entire season then idc about this card and its more on Gallant not saying sit the f*** down until youre healthy enough to be yourself.

Im also talking about in 2 years not this year.

This years move will be trading Goodrow or possibly panarin if he keeps playing like this and is dog shit in the playoffs again.

Maybe a minor league deal with Nashville involving Tomasino.

One of Kulikov, Määtä, Gudas or Stanley on D
One of the big Arizona Boys (Bjugstad or Ritchie) as a mid-level FWD
Speed on the 4th line as in Erne or Nieto.
Then sit tight and see, if anything very cheap appears last minute at the TDL. It might...
Why would Tomasino even be available? Isn’t he really good? Id definitely take a waiver on him.

would Vancouver do Podkolzin or Hoglander one for one for Kravtsov? I doubt it

Devils fan here.

I’ve seen the Rangers connected to Meier in rumors, do you think this would be a pure rental, or that they would try to extend him?

I think a Meier rental could be worth it, especially if you can recapture some value in an off season trade, but I wasn’t sure if an extension was realistic with Miller Laf and Chytil needing new deals.

Just curious what you guys think.
