That lineup seems like a pretty good change - Tro line becomes a grit grind two way group, kid line feasts against lower lines, make the big $ guys matchup vs other top lines and earn their money.

Idk how many moves people think there are with Panarin existing in his current gimped state.

I'd like to give him a stretch with Chytil instead of demoting Kakko and forcing CK on his off wing which they wouldn't do for Laffy. Heck, keep Vesey there with them if you need more defense to balance it out.

There was a simple solution to the lineup. Just flip Chytil and Trocheck.

While that's fair in theory... he will keep drifting to the parking lot along the left wing boards and just gimp Chytil.

Lots of things are possible if Panarin wasn't trying to skate 400 feet away from the slot but he is and it ls gonna warp any line he's on until he stops f***ing doing it.

Its why I'm fine with Kreider and Mika - those two don't do a ton at even strength anyway so you're not really losing much by having Panarin f*** up the o zone geometry.

idno why this is a huge deal....sucks for krav but the lineup overall i see the logic. seems like everyone overreacting to the order they were listed.

kid line is effectively line 2 as your scoring line behind mika/kreider/panarin

troch/goodrow/vesey is a 3rd line that has the potential to become a formidable shutdown/pain in the azz line that we use for matchups instead of asking mika to shoulder the load against everyones top line all night and still produce. we haven't had a line like that since what...blair betts was around? goodrow was basically signed for specifically this kinda role and is finally going to be deployed there.

4th line has enough pieces to make a line that can hold their own 8 mins a night

edit: besides, no formation fixes the fact that this team top to bottom is horrific at shooting in virtually every type of shot. couple decent ones on the back end, mikas one timer when he actually hits the puck...other than that all other guys in a high danger area pretty much need a full screen, a great tip, stickhandle into the net, backdoor pass/rebound, or the goalie having a stroke.

His ridiculously low SH% is because he takes a ton of really stupid shots, which greatly inflates his already abysmal corsi/possession analytics because his shot quality is terrible and they are not legit scoring chances.

I don't think you are wrong unfortunately. I looked at his career numbers and he's always had a pretty low SH%, although not as minuscule as this season. But he is a pure volume shooter who isn't really skilled at finishing. That's why he's better off on a grinding line with guys who will crash the net and recover loose pucks. Not with Panarin.

First giving GG the benefit of the doubt that the Kid Line is the second line and the Tro Line is the third line, I still can’t comprehend how GG could believe Kravtsov is a better fit on the fourth line than the third.

after the all star break maybe for 10-12 games i wouldn't mind seeing these lines:

kreider-zib-kakko
bread-chytil-kravtsov
laffy-trocheck-gautier/brodzinski

maybe GG has tried these configurations in practice - i dunno - but on paper it's worth a try.

i looked up the players trocheck had the most success with 5x5 and the common theme i noticed was the element of speed. he needs at least one guy to hook up with speed in order to score somehow. gautier and brods in the past have not shown any indications whatsoever to be scorers but that could change with some rebounds after ugly first timers. it might be something worth exploring. if it fails then acquire reinforcements as the usual.

The funny thing is we got a player from possession heavy Carolina, who was their worst possession player in the playoffs.

The kid line basically abused him every time he was on the ice last season.
