It’s a bargain right now, but it was probably unnecessary. We should have moved Strome at the deadline and slotted Chytil with Panarin for the remainder of last season.
Not sure if I'd call it unnecessary. You need great center depth to win, and although I've been firmly in the trust-the-kids camp, it was fair to question Chytil as a potential 2C. I think this year he's put that to rest. I have no reason not to expect another improvement next year.

It looks like to me we have very promising center depth for the next 4 years.

Logan Stanley seems like a bad move
On this Board everything is a bad move. We seem to over rate our players too often. Last year no one wanted to make any TDL moves as they were all panned. Copp, Vatrano and Mott were good pickups. Funny how some now say we should reacquire Mott and we need a Vatrano type.

Gotta say, it seems INSANE to me that people think two 21 year old players have “reached full stride”… these guys are not close to done developing. Thinking they won’t become stars is one thing, thinking they are what they are at 21 is, to me, wacky.
Well, more so in Kakko's case, yeah... Thing is, even there, when a young player is starting to display great talent, everyone says that the points are soon to follow... With him it's still very sporadic, so who knows, there are many players with elite skill level to play like all-stars but put up 20 to 30 points a season. Christiansen was an example. Michael Grosek, Marcel Hossa.

Lafreniere's progress has been undetectable to me, at least. This is a case where the numbers do tell the whole story. They are supposed to put up points. And that might happen in the NHL but not here. Or it might happen here, but that might not be quite as likely. They both have had two of the better development coaches in the NHL, great teammates, perfect situation. I'm holding out hope that it takes a diamond a long time to develop with the pressure in New York.

If you consider the development conditions, for a 1 and 2OA, in this organization anywhere near a “perfect situation,” we have a fundamental disagreement on our hands. Hahaha. I VEHEMENTLY disagree here. But I’m not here to try to change your mind, I’m just saying there’s no foundation for further discussion on it.

I just want to put forth the idea that the rangers low shooting percentage is not completely a matter of bad luck/facing hot goalies. It’s a matter of a too-high a percentage of their shots being initial shots and not enough second and third tries. Those are the shots with a better chance of going in. The goalie usually stops the first shot.

There are 3 basic methods to getting higher percentage shots in this league.

1. The East-West pass or the Royal Road: Force the goalie to move side to side and shoot before he gets set.
2. Traffic: Take away the goalie’s vision and get it to the net.
3. Rebounds: Second and third chances usually coming from generating traffic and getting pucks on net.

We try for #1 the most, but the pass or shot is too slow. We do not do #2 or #3 consistently enough.

What a f***ing joke

Panarin with Zibs is terrible and will be remedied with a quickness....but you didn't know the kid line was getting back together and that Krav was a placeholder? We prepared you for this. It was a no-brainer.

With the way this draft is shaping up, I don't think Henrique gets a 1st round pick, even with retention.

Decent player, but not worth a 1st IMHO.

I don’t see Henrique happening now. He would have been a good move in the offseason if we weren’t signing Trocheck. A veteran middle six center with a few years left on his contract would’ve been a good fit and left some flexibility. But we signed Trocheck long-term so there isn’t much of a need for a player like Henrique.

Fair enough, slugger!

That lineup seems like a pretty good change - Tro line becomes a grit grind two way group, kid line feasts against lower lines, make the big $ guys matchup vs other top lines and earn their money.

Idk how many moves people think there are with Panarin existing in his current gimped state.

Some of us wanted to keep Copp badly (and Motte for that matter) but Drury didn't agree so... it doesn't matter does it?
