They need to find the next Colton Orr. We got him when he was young and had a decent career here for a 4th line tough guy.

Blais was supposed to be tough, not necessarily a fighter, but tough. I'm sorry man I wanted to give this guy a chance but he fu*king blows. So that's just another problem we have. Dude seems beyond uncomfortable.

I'm on the not earth shattering 'shake up trade or two' train fersure.

A physical forward with grit skill in bottom 6 would help. Someone that can also play with skilled players.

We need a Colton Orr type..someone who can't keep up with the pace of play, can fight when needed and add literally nothing offensively. Wait,we just had that guy-Ryan Reaves. Some of you guys need to leave the 80's

The goons are gone with the dinosaurs. I wish people would stop pining for useless fighters who only fight the other useless fighters.
Guys like Farabee and Konecky have skill and fight. Why can‘t Rangers develop these types. If our skill had a lot more grit to it guys like Reaves or a goon would not be needed. Imagine if the Rangers had someone like. Landeskog and Jamie Benn type skilled guys that played tough when it mattered.. I miss the guys of Dubinsky and Callahan. Skilled guys that played a physical game and did more sticking up than Panarin Mika has ever did… I wish we had more Shannahan types on this team. Wish the top 6 had more aggressive players that shot the puck. Too much finesse pass looking for the pretty play and non physical or willing to stick up for their teammates.

You need to draft players in that mold and the Rangers really never did with Gorton.

Guys like Edstrom are the exception and then guys like Othmann, Cullye, Sykora are all rats who play with pace.

Unbelievable, now I have been blocked from commenting in the mallard thread and my posts were deleted AGAIN. So silly.

Anyways, reaves trade was a needed step to open some cap space, and doing so by moving out your 12 or 13 forward is a win. Reaves brought a swagger here we needed last year but it hadn't been nearly as effective this year with him not playing regularly or as effectively. Team needs swagger from the team leaders at this point, not hope for it from 13th forwards.

Soft and easy to play against, but you don't need shannahan to fix that. Nyr is starting to mirror the leafs in it's soft, top heavy construction but they have done with by committing most of the big money to 30 year olds or soon to be 30 year olds (except fox). It's a generally soft, finesse group with tremendous individual skill that is easier to play against than they ever should be.

doesnt Gallant like tougher teams? Even those Florida teams had some bite on them. I feel Rangers are getting younger to replace Reaves maybe will call up Cuylle or Rempe sooner than later. .

I vehemently disagree. They should have offered him a 2-YEAR CONTRACT.

The 1 year never made any sense. There’s types of injuries take almost a year and a half to come back from and start feeling confident in that repair. I’m guessing the Blais we see towards the end of the season will look night and day different than what we see now.
Gotta assume the rangers couldn’t afford that price at that time. They wanted to keep him at a discount so they lost the second year.

I think they recognize that, you do need more than one style of player. That’s why they coveted Othmann, he seems to have that edge to his game. Lafreniere has that edge to his game too if he ever gets the confidence. You don’t need a whole team of Tkachuks you just need 1 or 2

You also need it in your leadership group otherwise you are the leafs...

I don’t have any expectations for Krav but for gods sake let the kid play. Give Blais couple games to sit and get stronger.
I still trust Gallant but he is so stubborn when it comes to his lines. Getting a feeling that he’s afraid of the second season curse he’s known for.

Trade watch is on. Oh well hope we get a nice LD for him ig

Just go back to the original f***ing lines. Stacking Panarin and Zibanejad never works, and they’ve been terrible together over the last two years at 5v5

Ideally yes but I'd even settle for the lines from the 8-2 win over Detroit.

Strange that GG hasn't gone back to this now that VK is healthy. Maybe the tooth thing really pissed him & others off.

Vince saying the kid line will probably be getting 2nd line minutes but I imagine those two lines will be roughly equivalent
