Speculation: Roster Building Thread II (2022-23): The Puck is Prepared to be Mounted

Living in a state with a team doesn’t really mean you’re an expert on them.
 
I’ve always believed it to be a necessity, but I’ve never felt it more urgent to lock up Key long term. Screw a bridge contract with this guy.

My comment was directed at all of the vultures looking at the Coyotes roster, no one in particular.

Chychrun is an injury concern however hIs disagreements with management contributed to some of his absences. He was held out on at least one occasion in the past because of pending trades. It’s a chance I’m willing to take. He also represents a chance to pick up an high end 24 year old core player at a premium position.

Some of the other takes on Coyotes are laughable. I watch 3-4X more Coyote games than anyone else here. I have no real rooting interest. I watch them as if I am scouting them.

Well, to be fair, that has to be a tough organization to play for. They're never competitive. They play in a shit arena. They never spend enough. I'd want out too.

I like the player, I just don't want to pay the price - particularly with THIS draft.

Kane might need knee surgery. He hurt his knee last week against San Jose. He played the next game but he left the game after the second period. Kane missed the last game. The Hawks hope he can play tonight against Calgary. Elliotte Friedman said there are rumblings Kane might need knee surgery to clean up the knee but the hope is Kane will be able to play through the injury. Very reassuring. This guy takes a big hit and his season is over. Teams will need more than hope. People buy lottery tickets hoping to become millionaires.

Marek discussed Chychrun. Arizona is no hurry. They want three big pieces. Top prospect. First round pick. Another first round pick or s player equivalent of a first round pick.

Which team is blowing out their top prospects and first round picks for Chychrun? Maybe the Sabres look at him. That team is not very far from being very good. They can score goals. They have top young roster players and prospects. Dahlin has become a monster. Power is there now.

Ottawa is interested in Chychrun. Ottawa made the trade for DeBrincat. Ottawa signed Giroux. Ottawa acquired Talbot. They still stink. Losing Norris was a big loss for them.

The price is basically three first round picks. No salary retention.

Now is as good a time as any to send Lafreniere to Hartford. Guy hasn't improved one bit and even regressed compared to last season. After sitting a few days ago he doesn't look motivated or playing with a jump. I'm looking for anything from this kid, anything at all that tells me he can be a top 6 forward in this league.

I don't see it.

As did I, but not in the way that I would have liked too...

That sequence was the epitome of his NHL career to this point.

I'm just still punching the air that the Rangers got a bust and Jere Lehtinen with their #1 and #2 overall picks, missed out on Bedard/Fantilli/Michkov by two years, and while the Devils got a likely perennial 40 goal, 100 point player just a year earlier that's going to torture this organization for the next 15 years.

If we’re gonna get Chrychrun, we should get them to add Ritchie. Our deadline strategy has shifted significantly over the past 3 weeks. That leaves maybe a skill guy/shooter like Vatrano was for us last year, take a chance on someone cheap looking for a rebound like maybe Dadanov?

Haha...I have to recoup on my 2200.00 membership fee . May until Halloween goes by quick . The guys that can play year round have it so good . I'd almost bet Turk plays almost every day he is home here on PEI . He plays our course many times . I love playing....so addictive. They are building a retirement village at our course...450 grand gets you a nice spot and walk onto the golf course . Many are buying them and then migrating South to Florida homes for retirement years .

If Laf was producing more and/or doing other little things, wouldn’t have been an issue just chalk it up and move on to the next game. Like look at the Kakko turnover, he went back out there and scored a huge goal .

I’ve seen kids around the league do that also in OT, but it goes with the development territory. The difference is they are contributing to their team most other nights and are the hero. I’ve seen Kakko be the hero but want that from Laf. It’s been awhile since he has made a game changing play or score a big goal.

More ice time is not going to magically make that happen. He has to earn it.
 
I'd like to have Chychrun but I don't feel like overpaying for him at this stage . Find somebody else at cheaper price and go from there . There is always a workaround that can work . This is why Drury gets paid the big bucks .
