Now is as good a time as any to send Lafreniere to Hartford. Guy hasn't improved one bit and even regressed compared to last season. After sitting a few days ago he doesn't look motivated or playing with a jump. I'm looking for anything from this kid, anything at all that tells me he can be a top 6 forward in this league.

I don't see it.
Has to go through waivers. Not happening now. Rangers like always waited way to long

I hope the Rangers trade for Radko Gudas UFA this summer, brings some nasty to the team and not many would go near Igor with him on the ice.

Chychrun would be nice but doesn't fix the structural problem on the team - they need to swap 2 or 3 of the the chill forwards with guys who are hard to play against, impose their will somehow whether physically or by speed.

Theres not enough forwards who make the other team uncomfortable and get them out of their preferred rhythms. If anything the Rangers kind of match those rhythms which is not a particularly good quality.

Till that changes it's punchers chance with Shesty and hope Fox or Mika shows up. Which will work some but not enough.
You make a good point. This team needs some sandpaper. Not Reaves style histrionics but a couple of forwards who would be tough to play against. Unfortunately, they are hard to come by.

They can turn it on if they decide to... but left to their own devices, it's sporadic and inconsistent. An extremely hands-off, borderline out-of-touch 'players coach' is not going to garner the best results IMO

This team can play like that. It needs to be demanded of them. Panarin played like that. Zibs can play like that.

Rangers management is now addicted to soft finesse hockey. Don’t expect it any time soon. funny Tom Wilson is back with the Caps. He is playing today. Miss the days of Dubinsky Callahan Orr Carcillo Prust Avery etc

McDonagh never had sand paper here.

Miraculously, he became gritty on Tampa.

Mindset needs to change. It's hard to be angry if you're walking into a Country Club.

We did have Dubinsky Avery Fedotenko Prust types here. we need those type of players. We have too much finesse softness here. Need a balance like the Jagr and Richards years. Not a good sign. This roster reaks of Maple Leafs

We had a drill seargant in Torts.

The current environment is the issue

I think anyone who takes an honest look at this team would see that last post season... they didn't play well at all (Shesty aside obv)

They should've lost to the pens & the canes... that being said...

The defining moment after those games was blowing the lead in Game 3 (essentially allowing Tampa back into the series). Tampa ties the game and then wins it w a minute to go.

That is the identity of this NYR team.

IT IS THEIR IDENTITY

I don't know how they change it but if they don't, this will be a short season w a ton of questions and very few answers due to the cap

Strongest disagree ever. Environment isnt good but there is nothing that will change how players are in their heart of hearts if they don't want to.

Coaches just don't matter like that. They're not on the ice. Gaborik didn't change for Torts. Rangers have like 6 guys like that. They're also the best players on the team.

They already told the last coach too f***ing bad I'll play how I want and got him fired for the sin of *checks notes* wanting less E/W bullshit. Not even two years ago!

Given his current injury, his value just plummeted even further. If he’s even playable this season.

He's day to day and they said they're just being cautious and he'd be fine to play if it was a playoff game. Obviously they are not going to risk him playing through anything, no matter how minor it is, because of the chance he aggravates it and his value goes to zero.

I believe it was also reported that whatever he suffered will require surgery, even if it’s minor surgery.

That leads me to believe he may not be 100% until the off-season (or if he gets the procedure done now).

We're getting Kane....i wish we wouldn't. Id rather a couple smaller deals for younger players, like the Vatrano trade last year. Would love to walk into the draft with both 1st rounders this year.

Goodbye Othmann. I just have a gut feeling the way Drury has made bonehead trades. Too much grit in that player for this soft core. Hope I am wrong.

So drury, who was a grit player is going to trade a grit playing goal scorer for Kane? Doubtful
Rangers need to get some of that grit skilled players on the Rangers roster. I miss the days of Dubinsky and Callahan. skilled players that played with emotion and fight when needed and always stuck up for teammates. its a shame we will never see Panarin or Mika stick up for their teammates.
