why not just try Gauthier?

have no clue what Gallant is waiting for.
I agree...it is hard to figure...all he does is draw PP's for us and at least 1 good scoring opp per his 8 minutes . Eventually he will find his hands and confidence around the net ....it's the last step he needs and that only comes with opportunities/chances and coaching . He is our fastest forward along with CK...use the guy !!!

I think that ship has sailed.

More ice time = more chances =more goals = he would also draw more PP's for us and he is not scared to venture into the slot.....we don't have a lot of guys that do most of the above for a million bucks and are that big and fast . With a better C and more ice time he will score more goals . It's confidence.

hes done developing at his age.

The brain is far from a finished product at his age . Just as an example.....I'm 60.....I play about 80 rounds of golf a year from the Blue tees......and usually shoot around an 82-87 consistently . Been playing for 15 years and have remained steady in scoring until this Fall when coming on the end of the season I had rounds of 78 ...a week later 80 and two weeks later a 77 . It can happen .....confidence and a few slight changes can bring better results no matter the age . Mind over matter . On a steady basis I can see Gauthier in a full season scoring 15 playing with Chytil and Laf . With some work he might also be able to kill some penalties besides drawing them as he can cover a lot of ice pretty fast .

Problem is this team needs someone who can finish, not someone who is Finnish:sarcasm: The dude has 3 goals and 6 assists half way into the season. They already have Gauthier to fill that role.

Honestly they don’t though. If the plan is for this player to play with Chytil and Lafreniere, there should be enough offense on that line already…

80 rounds? Well done.

Not having guys in your top 6 that are not only capable of winning battles, but are WILLING to initiate said battles is what makes this team soft.

They rather poke around with their sticks and refuse to separate player from puck with their bodies.

It's not about having grinders up and down the line up, it's about playing with a level of intensity and urgency and purpose that our top guys seem to lack. Playing a stiff game, a game where the opposition doesn't look forward to playing.

The Rangers are an easy team to play against and have been for far to long. Under Gallant, Quinn and AV before that.

Trocheck has an edge, Kreider? That edge is dull AF.

We need more of that edge that Trocheck has in more than just 3-4 players.

It has to be a team identity.
I still think that your notion that they are "soft" is overplayed. I don't think they are easy to play against and they do create problems for other teams along the boards. When teams play the Rangers the last thing they are thinking is this is going to be an easy night.

And here I thought I was old @ 55 lol.

Sometimes I forget how long I've been posting here.

Is Gavrikov from CLB gonna cost a 1st ?
I’d rather not give up that much for a 3rd pair even though he’s better than that

Braun doing nothing in Philly . Would they take Hajek ?

The point is the cost to acquire is too damn much when his value wouldn’t be maximized here because he wouldn’t be getting the extra PP1 time, regardless of the PP1 time he doesnt get in Arizona. They are asking for a fortune. The assets can be better spent filling multiple needs. The team is looking to compete for a cup, whether some here like or believe that, that is the team’s intentions. They need to add multiple pieces at the deadline.

That’s the cost of an impact player in the NHL. Chychrun’s value would be maximized at even strength by taking Harpur’s minutes and affording them to play a compromised Trouba less. The Rangers can also easily add forward depth on top of Chychrun, it’s not like they will be reading firsts for rentals

If we're targeting a Coyotes Dman, i'd much rather get Gostisbehere than Chychrun. Fills the 3 LD spot nicely, and will be a lot cheaper

I’d think a guy like Mikkola from STL in a bigger deal .

Barbashev ?

Doesn’t have to be Tarasenko or OReilley

They don’t look great but he won a cup and would be 4th line

Marc Staal ufa too lol
You don't bring in someone making $2.25m to play on the 4th- same guy put up 26G and 60Pts last season. If you trade for him and play him on the 4th, he's walking as a UFA at season's end.

I like Mikkola for the third pairing though.

Damn
Everytime i just read Yandle's name i get nauseous
I hated him
Please, no one like him

As for Chych i read he has played RD
I wouldnt want him over lindgren
But if by some miracle he took Trouba's spot, sign me up

He’s a LD.
The goal would be push Lindgren down, and strengthen every pair.

Edmonton said the same thing when he played with McDavid and Drai and still couldn’t produce. Like I said, one Gauthier is enough on this team.

The Bruins are an exceptional team, best in the league, and have all the right elements so comparing any team to them is going to come up short. I still don't think they are soft and they do create problems for other teams. You think other teams want to see the Rangers on their schedule? I don't.
I'm not talking about the bruins this year, I'm talking about the bruins over the last like two decades.

We're one injury away from Hajek or Harpur in the top4. You talk about depth but every team having issues at forward. We have a top8. Gauthier should be in the top9 but Gallant is gonna Gallant. We have a 4th line of Vesey Goodrow Blais/Brodz... where is the depth issue? Sure, we can upgrade to a Motte on the 4th line

We have some of the best depth at forward in the league IMO. We need LHD. KAM or Lindgren getting hurt is CATASTROPHIC. That is the teams biggest weakness IMO
We absolutely do not have good forward depth, I have no idea where you're coming up with that. Vesey has been a fixture in the top nine this year and you should be in the fourth line I have no idea how you're suggesting we have good forward depth
