Not having guys in your top 6 that are not only capable of winning battles, but are WILLING to initiate said battles is what makes this team soft.
They rather poke around with their sticks and refuse to separate player from puck with their bodies.
It's not about having grinders up and down the line up, it's about playing with a level of intensity and urgency and purpose that our top guys seem to lack. Playing a stiff game, a game where the opposition doesn't look forward to playing.
The Rangers are an easy team to play against and have been for far to long. Under Gallant, Quinn and AV before that.
Trocheck has an edge, Kreider? That edge is dull AF.
We need more of that edge that Trocheck has in more than just 3-4 players.
It has to be a team identity.
