Different Armstrong. Doug is still with St Louis. Bill is the GM of the college team. Bill actually was the AGM in St Louis under Doug, but they aren't related.
thanks. i stand corrected.

well in that case i also believe in superstitions. stay the phuck far far away from anyone with the name armstrong regarding any trades.

Just throwing this in here for anyone who has the athletic.

Note: Fox is having another Norris season right now. 5.0 GSVA.

Kakko's is surprisingly low. Looks like not enough usage. The offense needs to be better but he's again great defensively.

Trouba's is unsurprisingly low. He sucks across the board and his card last season wasn't much better.

Chychrun would be our second best D at 2.7 GSVA, btw, behind Fox's absolutely elite 5.0 but ahead of Lindgren's steady 1.6 GSVA.

Lafreniere needs to get better everywhere. He's not feeling it right now.

Trocheck is a very nice upgrade on defense but he's clearly the beneficiary of PP time and his linemates on offense, where he's not been good.

Oh, and Kravtsov has been VERY good, but is just not being used enough.

Forwards

Defensemen

Goalies

Getting out from under the Goodrow and Trouba contracts ASAP should be an imperative for Drury. Out of all of the contracts with term and somewhat substantial dollars.

That’s been the price for a while now. If nobody is willing to pay it, it’s a fantasy

The McDonagh price is what Chychrun will ultimately cost. Chych is younger with an extra year of control, but the injury issues and McD being a captain and proven playoff performer at the time kind of evens it out. @bobbop suggesting the conditional 23 1st, 24 1st and 2 solid prospects compares well to the Rangers return for McD at 50% retained

So does that mean the Yotes will throw in a JT Miller equivalent? I'll take Keller.

Anyone not wanting RoR is crazy. He is a winner and plays the type of game we don’t have enough of. You can never have enough depth, especially center depth. Chytil can slide over to wing if need be. As long as the price is reasonable we should be in on him.
That is the problem. Why would St. Louis be reasonable? Especially if they stay in the playoff race? Maybe we pull off a reverse Buch trade? a 2nd and average prospect for ROR.

Maybe they wont be reasonable. RoR is having a down year. How long can STL hang onto just contending for a WC spot? They were already having a mediocre year and now the injuries are piling up. Krug, RoR, Tarasenko.

All valid but if they are in contention for a wild card spot in a month or so and they get a bit healthier I find it hard they would unload him. I think they are just as good as the kraken flames and heck even Edmonton for that final spot

These cards are also dumb.
I won't question the actual model, as I don't know it, but when you use a value like 'league minimum' which actually has a fixed dollar value, but then don't use that dollar value in your comparison, it does make me think that maybe the whole thing isn't robust enough to take seriously...

They’ll settle when we throw in Hajek

Roll 3 pairs. Keep them fresh. Play the hot hand
Make the deal ....what is a former #1 OA worth ? It might be a great move down the road and it also could be a real bad one ......only Laf knows that answer but if we win a Cup in the next 3 seasons with Chychrun it likely is a win for us . Panarin and Kreider are entrenched for at LEAST 2-3 more seasons......and Laf does not like the RW hole and by the looks of that he would be a 3spot there anyways ......some decisions are going to have to be made soon. Remember Alexander Daigle .

So, based on posts, I'm seeing:

+ Chychrun @ 50% retained for 2.5 years
+ whatever we can get for Goodrow

is going to cost us:

- Goodrow (somebody's salary has to go)
- long term deal for Miller (he'll have to be bridged)
- 1st round pick
- another 1st round pick
- NHL player
- whatever it's going to cost us for AZ to retain 50% (another pick/prospect)
- will have to field more players on entry level contracts next year to field a team
- this guy has played 60+ games only TWICE in his career

Does this really make us a better team immediately? Maybe for this year. Likely not for next.
Future? Lost picks in the strongest draft in 20 years will hurt this organization for years.

I don't see it. He's a nice player and fills a need upgrading our D. But the cost? Screw that. Does he put us over the top for a Cup? I don't think so.

Chychrun is Yandle 2.0
He won’t get PP time
They want a big body 3rd pair LD

In Brooks recent podcast he talks about how he thinks the team would benefit from building a checking line around goodrow with someone like ROR, but with gallant wanting 3 scoring lines and roster construction, it’s not likely.

Why not build that on the 4th line? Goodrow is already there. Vesey would fit on a shut down checking line, and I think Rydahl with his size/speed/style of play should get a look in that type of role as well. If he doesn’t work out, make a move for a guy that’s more established in that role in the NHL. Match them up at home against top scoring lines and bring them in for important d zone face offs when needed. You don’t need it to be a 100% matchup, but it was effective for the Canes in the playoffs last year.

That opens an opportunity to bring in a 2/3 RW like Vatrano at the TDL that will help drive scoring. Instead of paying the haul it would cost for ROR, you improve 2 lines and don’t try to force skill guys into a role they aren’t equipped for.
