Lindgren is many things... 1st pair defenseman isn't one of them. You don't give up a ton of assets for a 1st pairing D man and then let another 1st pairing Dman walk. You explore other avenues to get rid of salary.

Kravtsov 91st percentile defense, highest of any forward other than Vesey (who’s 1 percent better)Just throwing this in here for anyone who has the athletic.

Note: Fox is having another Norris season right now. 5.0 GSVA.
Kakko's is surprisingly low.
Trouba's is unsurprisingly low.
Chychrun would be our second best D at 2.7 GSVA, btw, behind Fox's absolutely elite 5.0 but ahead of Lindgren's steady 1.6 GSVA.
Oh, and another note about that: Kravtsov has been VERY good, but is just not being used enough.

Really? Because that's where he has been playing the last few years and he works well with Fox. When he has been injured the defense has been a mess. Do not underestimate his value to this team.Lindgren is many things... 1st pair defenseman isn't one of them.

2. Jakob Chychrun, Coyotes
According to Pierre’s reporting, the price remains two first-round picks plus another asset as part of any package for Chychrun. And it is a price justified by his $4.6 million average annual value for another 2 1/2 years — a bargain for a top-pairing defenseman. General manager Bill Armstrong recently told The Athletic he’s sticking to his guns: “We have done more deals than any other NHL team since I’ve come in, and my thought process is showing the carbon copy of a trade that was done before and follow that.” Armstrong said Chychrun still wants to play for a Stanley Cup contender: “We said we would look at that (and we would) try and help him out. And if the assets on the other side were there, we would definitely make the trade. That hasn’t come of yet. Doesn’t mean it won’t come.” — Russo, Jan. 3
I disagree.I think there is a lot of moving parts that will make this a buyers market forcing some GMs to move assets at a lesser rate of return then we've seen in years past.
FTFYAnd I hear that- but Ben Harpur would be the worst blueliner we fielded in a meaningful playoff game since Patrick Nemeth.
That to me is a major issue with a cheap solution.
Armstrong is not trading Chychrun with 50% retention for Jones, a conditional second round pick which can become a first round pick and a 2024 first round pick.
Armstrong wants the Seth Jones return. Two first round picks and Boqvist who was a 1st round pick in 2018.

NHL trade board 2022-23: Bo Horvat is off the market, injuries pile up and more updates on top deadline targets

Bingo!!!He may not be a true pair top defenseman, but he is able to play that role with Fox as his partner.
It's not optimal, but might be a luxury we can't afford compared to a 1 mill 6. dman. If we can keep him great, then we can trade him the summer after as a RFA for a decent haul. Why would you trade Lindgren? He plays 1st pair D and makes 3 mil a year through next year.
he's already had all those surgeries and he's only 24 years old? no way i'd trade for this guy. if he's on the team in practice is it going to be no contact? don't sneeze. hell don't even look at his general direction - if you do he might need surgery for something. could be another pavel bure waiting to happen.Idk I wouldn't put money on it that's for sure. His injury history is a laundry list. Surgery on both knees, torn ACL, torn ligaments, shoulder surgery, wrist injuries, ankle injuries. Unfortunately it's never ending with the guy. A couple of years ago he had injury concerns. 2 more years filled with injuries and it's not just a concern, it's a problem. 24 years old and it's a theme now in his career. Thats not Arizonas fault, it is what it is.
OK. Would it be better if it's another Hunt, Vesey, Brodz type? Because what's the difference? They are place holders. They will be given every chance to obtain the roster spot. If not obtained, there will be bargain bin signings.
This is what a flat cap roster looks like. We're not the only ones going to be having these issues.
2-3 years 4.5M for KAM is not optimistic. If anything, it's too much. As @GAGLine pointed out, Dobson just signed for 3x$4Mper
I think just about every estimate I’ve seen on Miller‘s next contract is way high.
it depends on philosophy....3 yrs under 15 million and no nmc...keep options open...if he surpasses Fox we got to pay or trade to restock farm...do same thing with Filip and KaapoI think just about every estimate I’ve seen on Miller‘s next contract is way high.

That’s been the price for a while now. If nobody is willing to pay it, it’s a fantasyArmstrong is not trading Chychrun with 50% retention for Jones, a conditional second round pick which can become a first round pick and a 2024 first round pick.

Love the Fox one. Should shut up anyone calling him a 4th forward as well as anyone arguing K'Andre is as good as him.Just throwing this in here for anyone who has the athletic.

Note: Fox is having another Norris season right now. 5.0 GSVA.
Kakko's is surprisingly low. Looks like not enough usage. The offense needs to be better but he's again great defensively.
Trouba's is unsurprisingly low. He sucks across the board and his card last season wasn't much better.
Chychrun would be our second best D at 2.7 GSVA, btw, behind Fox's absolutely elite 5.0 but ahead of Lindgren's steady 1.6 GSVA.
Lafreniere needs to get better everywhere. He's not feeling it right now.
Trocheck is a very nice upgrade on defense but he's clearly the beneficiary of PP time and his linemates on offense, where he's not been good.
Oh, and Kravtsov has been VERY good, but is just not being used enough.
