Subtract Lack and his cap hit out and the Hurricanes have 19 players and need to make up about $7.5 mil to hit the floor. They're almost the perfect team to give in to Alexander Radulov's crazy demands. That would about do it for them to reach that goal--and he'd fit as the offensive player they're looking for. Just saying--they're a team that could afford to overpay for him and get a benefit out of it.

what yer saying about 7.5, cap floor, and Rad-meister all makes sense.
But if they took on Marc Staal, I don't see him except as a healthy scratch too many games for them.

Still, it may be worth it for them. I just don't see it.

No reason for them to take on Staal if they can find a better way to the cap floor. I was just suggesting that Radulov would just about do that for them. I'd give their GM enough credit to know that his team doesn't need MS and wouldn't do that deal.

My main objection to it from a Rangers standpoint is I'd rather not trade another 2nd--especially if 2018 is going to be really good.

Brian Campbell is unemployed.

Just sort of floating that bubble out there.

I'll pop it for you. No. Too old. Should retire.

Some ages of UFA d-men this year:

Brian Campbell--38.
Andrei Markov--38.
Francois Beauchemin--37.
Johnny Oduya--35.
Rob Scuderi--38.
Nick Schultz--34.
Fedor Tyutin--an old 33.
John Michael Likes--36.
Dennis Wideman--34.

Don't go near any of them. I do like Trevor Daley who is 33 but you couldn't give him anything long term.

I don't think we have a 2018 2nd.

not if there is a scenario which helps us send Staal to Detroit

and besides, I would be thrilled to see, if McIlrath comes up, how it would be sticking it to AV, who never gave the kid a fair shake.

This just isn't true. McIlrath played for 3 AHL teams in 1 season. Stop this ridiculous narrative that McIlrath was held back by AV. He just isn't good enough for the NHL

:laugh: know exactly what you mean by that

gotta tell ya..that blonde girl is a little annoying...i get it..shes pretty..and im sure she knows a ton about hockey..wouldnt be surprised if she knew more than I do...with that said...theres just something about her personality that bugs me a bit.

Cerny, for all his boundless optimism...didnt annoy me as much..you knew he was a mouthpiece...thats his job...but he wasnt annoying...she just....bugs me.

Come on, don't be condescending like that. Totally uncalled for.

I really don't care whether its Borges or Cerny. They both fill the same job for the team. Sure, I have preferences, but its so unimportant who fills this role. I don't really care.

I wish we had some real beat reporters in place of Zipay, Tasch, Carp.

4C UFA Reclamation - Who to choose?

Alexander Burmistrov
Position: C, RW
Age (2017): 26
Size: 6´1" 180 lbs
Shoots: L
Drafted: Round 1, #8 Atlanta (2010)
Stat line 2016/2017 - 49 GP 5 G 11 A 16 P -7 15:24 TOI
NHL stat line career - 324 GP 35 G 60 A 95 P 0,29 PPG -26 127 PIM
NHL Teams: Arizona (latest), Winnipeg, Atlanta
Cap hit 2016/2017: $1,550,000
Talent analysis: Burmistrov's main atributes are his speed and his playmaking ability. He is probably one of the more electrifying players in his age group, having the ability to create offesnive opportunites when none might be obvious. Burmistov's lack of size could hinder him at the pro level

Mikhail Grigorenko
Position: C
Age (2017): 23
Size: 6´3" 209 lbs
Shoots: L
Drafted: Round 1, #12 Buffalo (2012)
Stat line 2016/2017 - 75 GP 10 G 13 A 23 P -14 14:05 TOI
NHL stat line career - 217 GP 22 G 42 A 64 P 0,29 PPG -26 30 PIM
NHL Teams: Colorado (latest), Buffalo
Cap hit 2016/2017: $1,300,000
Talent analysis: Grigorenko is a gifted offensive center who possesses great patience with the puck and the ability to thread passes all over the ice. He is a smooth skater and has the potential to be a top scorer in the NHL. Grigorenko has been criticized for inconsistent and disinterested play in the past, though he has played through injuries.

Peter Holland
Position: C
Age (2017): 26
Size: 6´2" 190 lbs
Shoots: L
Drafted: Round 1, #15 Anaheim (2009)
Stat line 2016/2017 - 48 GP 5 G 7 A 12 P -16 13:09 TOI
NHL stat line career - 243 GP 35 G 46 A 81 P 0,33 PPG -28 105 PIM
NHL Teams: Arizona (latest), Toronto, Anaheim
Cap hit 2016/2017 - $1,300,000
Talent analysis: Holland has begun to put his game together in the past couple of seasons. Where he was a player who could have been described as having all the tools but no tool box, Holland has evened out his effort and consistency. He is a big player with a soft touch. Although he is more of a shoot-first center, he has the vision and passing skills to be a respectable setup man.

Grigorenko?

You keep driving this awful narrative like it's facts. Windsor had Sergachev who was in a league of his own, then they had Day, Chatfield and Stanley to round out their top 4 which was the best top 4 in the CHL. I'd say those 3 were pretty darn even but i definitely think Day edged out Stanley and Chatfield is 2 years older then Day.

I don't think Day is making NYR but ffs, stop driving this faulty narrative that he was some plug on Windsor, he was very important for them this season.

Its not my narrative. Take it up with the OHL watchers and Windsor fans who said this. I actually was defending the guy, but I don't watch Windsor that often.

Who am I to argue with people who watch the guy play more than I do?

People are talking all about Pionk opening up on the team, but Graves is a better player.

Gorton already has disregarded LH-RH, he's gotten rid of our only two RHD's from last season, only brought in one, and brought in another lefty, so he evidently does not care about LH-RH, therefore considering who is the better player and disregarding how they shoot, its Graves.

I think both could be trade bait, as we have so many young defensemen now, but Graves should be the first of the two to the NHL.

I'm bored and feel like making this since we just signed Smith.

Our squad is...

Kreider - Zib - Buch/Zucc
Vesey - xxx - Nash
Miller - Hayes - Grabner/xxx
Grabner/? - xxx - xxx(Until Fast is back)

Extras: Puempel, Jensen, Tambo?, Nieves, Fogarty?

Injured: Fast

---

McD - xxx/?
Skjei - Smith
Staal/Holden? - xxx/?

Extras(more like unsure where to slot them in): Graves, Pionk, ADA, Bear Gloves

Injured: Klein

---

Hank
xxx

---

So we need, 1 top 6 C, 4th line C, 3rd line RW/4th line LW, replacement 4RW until Fast is back(Jensen could fill in), possible top 4 RD, backup goalie.

How can we fill these in?

4th line C options(FA): Boyle, D. Moore???, Burmistrov???

Not many good 4th line C's out there besides B. Boyle.

4th line C options(trade): Kruger?(iffy on his cap)

Not much of a trade market for 4C's

---

Top 2 C options(FA): Thornton is really all.

Top 2 C options(trade): Galchenyuk, Duchene(doubtful)

---

In the end, the lineup is more likely to be...

Kreider - Zib - Buch/Zucc
Miller - Hayes - Buch/Zucc
Vesey - xxx - Nash
Grabner - xxx - xxx(Fast when he's back)

at forward. There are some 3C options, like...

Hanzal, Berglund?, Bonino, RNH(meh..)

Don't like RNH or Berglund's contracts. Don't like RNH in general but just throwing a name out there.

---

I personally don't know where we go from here. I don't see any viable forward options on the trade market, and I highly doubt Lias makes the opening day squad. I'm stuck.

Jordon weal as 4c and try maybe a Sam bennett roll as 2/3c
Keider-zib-buch
Vesey-hayes-Nash
Miller-Bennett-mza
Grabner-weal-fast

Puempel/Nieves

Continue that youth movement with low risk high reward young players?
