if miller gets moved to center is there a possibility we could see Kovacs on wing this season?

And that's fine because we have 3 right d now and hopefully the two younger guys are closer to 1st pair material by then. We have Zborovskiy looking really solid in the whl. We shouldn't have any reason to shop right d any time soon.

On the right you've got:

Smith
DeAngelo
Holden
Bereglazov
Graves
Pionk
Day
Zborovoskiy

Bereglazov and Graves have extensive experience playing the right side. That's their primary side. I understand Day has made the switch more recently. Any way you slice it we have done a good job addressing the lack of defensemen who can play the right side with the moves we have made in the past year.

Possibility of Staal and a 2nd for Lack? Carolina needs to hit the cap floor and move a goalie. Gives them a veteran defender back there as well. Gives them a 6th defender if they move Hanifin or Faulk for a FWD.

Robin Kovacs? He was non-existent in Hartford last season and isn't remotely close to being ready. And now he's got himself in some trouble for a drag racing incident in Sweden that could conceivably end up with him serving some time. I rarely peg anything at a zero percent chance, but there is a zero percent chance Kovacs plays in the NHL next year.

wow didn't even realize. I'm just looking at euro players and trying to see if we could get lucky enough to get one in the line up on the cheap

I wouldn't HATE signing Jumbo if it's for two years. Three though, **** off. With that said, I'm ok with a roster like this.

Nash - Thornton - Zuccarello
Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Grabner - Andersson - Miller
Vesey - UFA - Fast

McDonagh - Shattenkirk
Smith - Skjei
Bereglazov - DeAngelo

That defense is twice as good as last season's defense, and the forward group could match/potentially be better than last season as well (hugely dependent on Buchnevich progression).

Also, notice Andersson at 3C. He seems to be someone that is more NHL ready than most other 2017 draft prospects. I'd be willing to trade Hayes in a deal for an underwhelming return if someone would take on Staal's contract.

He had 12 points in 72 AHL games. Granted he was young for the league and Hartford was ****ing awful but still. He may yet develop, but it's not going to be in the NHL next season.

Earlier in the week it came out that he was drag racing with friends in Sweden and one of the other drivers, his buddy, crashed and died. Kovacs is a repeat offender with the racing offenses and some people were speculating about manslaughter (that's just speculation though). Regardless it's something else he has to deal with that will potentially distract him from hockey. He still has his buddy Stromwall to play with in Hartford, though Stromwall was somehow even worse.

I've soured. He was very bad in his own end last year and beyond non-existent in the playoffs.

He looked beastly at times during the season tho... I wouldn't give up on him just yet..

side note.. The Yankees farm system... geezus. :yo::yo::yo::yo:

I want nothing to do with Andersson in the NHL this year. He needs to develop further before he comes here, let him focus on producing and evolving as a player as opposed to minimizing mistakes as a 19yo in a checking line role.

That's definitely on the safer side, but it all comes down to how he does in camp and how he looks in preseason. They won't mess around with him, if he sticks it's because he belongs. They're not gonna keep him in the NHL if he's borderline.

Thankfully This should end the shattenkirk thing. He would be nice but can't afford him and I would rather a few kids play.

Spend some $$ on filling in gaps or work on a hockey trade to get better up the middle.

Let the devils offer shatty 6 for 7 and enjoy that deal in yrs 4-7

i don't agree...smith gives skjei a partner but we still need a top pair guy to play with mcdonagh. that could come via trade obviously but i think we are still in the market for a partner for mcdonagh
