You keep driving this awful narrative like it's facts. Windsor had Sergachev who was in a league of his own, then they had Day, Chatfield and Stanley to round out their top 4 which was the best top 4 in the CHL. I'd say those 3 were pretty darn even but i definitely think Day edged out Stanley and Chatfield is 2 years older then Day.

I don't think Day is making NYR but ffs, stop driving this faulty narrative that he was some plug on Windsor, he was very important for them this season.

Didn't Day have a difficult year off the ice due to no fault of his own? He's young, why label him?

And raises for Miller, Hayes, and Vesey won't be bank breakers either unless they have superstar years. If they continue as is... well... they aren't getting more than 4, 4.5 I'd think.

I agree....you should have to get at least some separation from the guys who are just putting up good numbers.

Tallon seems to be in a real tail spin, i wonder if he bites on Holden + Graves (+ some 2nd/3rd/4th 2019 pick) for Demers?

I don't know where we'd fit Demers now that Smith has re-signed, unless DeAngelo is spending the season in the AHL. Rangers seem to be determined to get players on ELC in the lineup.

McDonagh-Demers
Skjei-Smith
Staal-DeAngelo/Beer Gloves/Pionk
Kampfer

?

Do we really peg DeAngelo in our top 4 and stay happy with that?

If Staal continues his decline then drop him to 7th D and promote whoever is next in line of the young guys, easy.
Can also obviously send Kampfer wherever and keep Beer Gloves as #7 so he doesn't go back to Russia if he's not #6.

Won't know if they don't give him the chance

I'd prefer DeAngelo as a 3rd pairing guy and PP specialist but I assume Bereglazov is going to get time in the top 4. The Rangers signed him with the intention of him playing out of the gate, he's got that out-clause back to the KHL.

Yes....Yes we do.

Ugh, i sure don't... If there's a good deal to make for another top 4 D-man then you make it. I'd love to get Demers.

Sure, he'll make the team, but i doubt he's just pinned into the top 4, he can be a 6/7 without going back to Russia.

I'm not a fan of signing both Smith and Shattenkirk (if that's what ends up happening).

If they do, though, it would make sense to trade Holden and platoon Bear Gloves and Deangelo in that 3RD slot.

Wishful thinking, but perhaps those two guys play well enough to push Staal to 7D.

I mean, would anyone be absolutely shocked to see Staal in a Rozsival redux situation? Deteriorating veteran on a large-ish contract gets hurt. Highly thought of rookie replaces him, excels. Vet has no more place in the lineup. (That would be McDonagh in the Rozy example, if you weren't sure)

With the signing of Shattenkirk and the trade or scratching of Staal, our defense may be the best in the league. Minnesota and nashville are the only two which would rival it.
That's a cup winning defense with what we have up front. Just need 1 more top 6 center.

If this was their thought process they would have kept Stepan and signed Shatty, not traded Stepan for the young version of what very well could be Shatty. We are not competing for a cup this year, just be happy with a good team with a lot of fun kids playing (which will making watching fun and terrifying at the same time).

You're not going to avoid Staal being in the lineup next season, unfortunately.

I'm surprised Pionk isn't getting more mentions around here. He'll start in the AHL, but I don't think he's as far away from being NHL-ready as everyone thinks
