McKenzie's quote is based on Brooks and his "article"

Where is this coming from?

All I know is that he was on radio somewhere in Canada (Edmonton?) yesterday and threw out a blurb that he didn't feel that the Rangers were too keen on Shattenkirk. I don't think this was based off of the Brooks article, unless he mentioned it on air.

According to Brooks, the Rangers have never had interest in Shattenkirk, except for when they tried to trade for him last summer and at the trade deadline.

Yeah I don't understand how he can honestly make that statement. The Rangers will obviously have general interest in Shattenkirk as he is a player that fits a need on the team.

Is it possible we had interest in Shattenkirk before DeAngelo, Bereglazov (not RH but plays the right side) and Pionk?

I rather have a 'stabilizing' force and cheaper option like Smith

Bernstein is also fairly certain we are going to sign shattenkirk a guy we tried to trade for twice but all of a sudden want nothing to do with when all hell cost is money of which we have plenty to spend

Does anyone know more about the Rangers than McKenzie? Watching the draft. The Rangers are up. The Rangers are going with Lias Andersson here. Hel wasn't sure about some of the other picks but he had the Rangers nailed. McKenzie said the Rangers are rebuilding on the fly. Two minutes later,Gorton says rebuilding on the fly. He had the Stepan to Arizona rumor one week before the deal was made.

So, we know Brooks has said many times that the Rangers won't be signing Shattenkirk.

McKenzie is saying that the Rangers might not be so eager to do it.

And now, even thouvh he doesn't work for the team anymore, Cerny is saying he doesn't think the Rangers will do it. I imagine he still has some friends on the inside who might feed him some info.

Gotta wonder if they just sign Smith and then go...

McDonagh-Smith
Skjei-DeAngelo
Staal-Bereglazov
Pionk

That is a solid blueline.

It's probably better statistically than last season in some ways but is going to look bad on the ice on occasion. DeAngelo will hopefully be that top 4 guy at some point but starting in that position could mean some painful moments.

Smith on the top pairing isn't ideal but it's better than girardi there.

The blue line will experience growing pains as they transition it. To be expected.

You mean the same guy who spent all of last week arguing with Rangers fans about Stepan not being traded. The same guy who had the Rangers trading Kreider to Carolina for Eric Staal because the Rangers could not afford to pay Kreider as a free agent. That guy?

Yeah. He knew about the Andersson pic for sure saying they were reaching and going outside the Box or something of that ilk. Rebuild on the fly. Not the easier task

Who knows, mixed signals.

To work it backwards

Rangers trade Stepan for futures

Make no move to try to protect Lindberg

Buyout G

Rent Smith(at least for now) using pick from Ottawa and one of their own

Zbad + pick /Brassard

Somewhere in there no cents on dollar for Nash

Until they pick a direction and commit to it, I'm not really sure what to think other than they just are making moves right before and in accordance with whatever the next scheduled CBA event may be.

I fully expect Shattenkirk to sign here. If not here, than Jersey. I don't see NJ throwing a bunch of money at him considering his age, and their recent acquisition in Hischier. If he pans out, he'll get a pay day.

Smith and Thornton are the main grabs. The Rangers FO are probably hoping Shattenkirk takes a team friendly deal. He will still get paid. It seems like posturing to me when it comes to Shattenkirk.

And while I like Bereglazov and DeAngelo, nothing is guaranteed to rookies as it shouldnt be as part of negotiations. People were saying the same things about Buch last year, 'if he doesnt get his minutes he will bolt for Russia.' Well he didnt always get his minutes especially after coming back from an "injury" aka wasnt physically in shape for the NHL. Who's to say Beargloves is? Because he played in the KHL? So did Buch. Sign Shatty and ease him in. Then buyout Staal next year allowing for a full-time role. I dont see Pionk being ready to be a full-time player for 2 years. But even if him, Graves, Day, and Zobo blossom it is a great problem to have just like the Yankees do with their OF prospect depth.

Nah bruh. McKenzie only gets his fill from Uncle Larry, who is a 100% hack and doesn't know anything. Nobody can possibly know about the Rongos because Gorton is so tight lipped don'tcha know?

:sarcasm: :naughty:

He might know alot but there's no way anyone knows what the Rangers will do about Shattenkirk, even Gorton. Who knows, Sabres and TB might be the only players and want him to sign short term and Rangers can offer a 4th/5th year. None of these teams are going out of the gate and shooting off 7 years on him.

Buffalo will eventually though.

He makes too much sense for them.
