So reinhart hasn't lived to expectations in his young career, mostly used as a wing, struggles away from eichel, similar production if not slightly under Miller's rate, questions about work ethic. I'm asking what buffalo adds because i dont see any reason to trade our center turned wing for their center turned wing with just as many question marks but no proof of reaching that ceiling that miller can't sniff.

Buffalo can hang onto their guy if it's laughable. Their front office wasn't laughing too much this summer.

He is better at center but he keeps getting played at wing because of Eichel and O'Reilly, but has had a good attitude about it.

as much as i like duchene there is no doubt that sakic is asking for the moon. the islanders with all of their assets and picks would have landed him by now.
We can't afford to give up what they want plain and simple

What's this Rinehart chatter?

It's seems like some fans are frustrated with his development and want to use him to get d help. He's still young but isn't playing center full time so it's raises the galchenyuk concerns. Miller as the main piece would just be trading a slightly less proven, younger guy with a higher ceiling at the draft for our guy that has had better results so far. Doesn't address their need for d either. If they want a prospect d and will wait a few years, their could be something to be done. Doesn't seem like a fit.

They just traded Travis Hamonic ... I don't see them moving anymore defense pieces.

That's sort of like what Colorado is looking for ... some D.

I'm pretty sure they tried to get duchene way before they traded Hamonic.
and Don't they have a ton of picks and other decent prospects?

I think it would be hilarious if the team offer-sheeted Kuznetsov

The problem is, every team that has a player worth offer-sheeting, that team has a lot of cap space and probably matches

I still wish someone would have offersheeted Lindholm or Rakell last summer. Real missed opportunity

There are other centers that I would want but if Buffalo added enough I would take Reinhart as the center piece as a McDonagh trade, (and I think there are only 3-4 teams that would make sense for that). Unlike Galchenyuk, Reinhart has gotten a pretty raw deal and has had a good attitude about it. I think if the Rangers want a center, Reinhart is a better bet than Galchenyuk.

Ok all jokes aside

If we offer sheeted draisatl at 8 million, do the oilers really match? 19 million in space currently with Kassian this year as well.

If they match, they're down to 11 million in space (excluding kassian) for:
McDavid, Nurse, Strome, Caggiula ++++ for next year.
What's the number floating around McDavid? 14M? Sure that's high but I think he takes a minimum of 10M home.

So therefore, I don't see anyway they get a deal done with Draisatl. JG, come on now!

Let's say we sign Shattenkirk and Smith. McDonagh, Skjei, and Staal are locked in. That leaves Holden, Bereglazov, DeAngelo, Pionk, and Graves fighting for that last D spot. Right now I don't see a scenario where Pionk or Graves crack the roster. It should be good competition for that last spot this year.

I'm not down with signing Shattenkirk.
Not a fan.

Yes the Oilers match. And they give someone an asset to take the Lucic/RNH/etc contract (or something like that) when they need to resign McDavid. They aren't in terrible shape.

They'll match and just deal with the consequences later I'd imagine.

It's not the Rangers way, but I'd go all out and offer him 10x10.

Great. So simple plan haha.

1. Offer sheet 9M
2. Trade for RNH on the cheap

Problems solved. Just make me gm of the year already

They have Ryan Pulock but I doubt they move him. We also have Sean Day and Ryan Graves.

yes but they had hamonic and young players/picks and colorado didn't want that.
I have high hope for day and graves but not to be negative no package including day and graves gets you duchene.
Mcdonagh or skjei is what gets you duchene.are you willing to give up either? And in skjei's case they probably want us to add.

What's everyone's thoughts on Nick Bonino, someone last night in the previous thread thinks he can be Stepan's replacement. I like him, but I can't see him being a first line center. Crosby will smoke him!

I was the one who brought Bonino up and I never said he'd come here to be our #1 center.. I said Mika and a Mika hopefuilly playing up to his potential(60-65 point type potential) would be our #1. You know this Greg so not sure why you would try and be disingenuous and state I wanted to bring him in as a #1 when it was in fact as a #2...tsk tsk tsk.

Bonino would be brought in as a pretty dang good facsimilie for a #2 guy and feel he'd be pretty productive for us and he wouldln't cost a fortune. He's on the books for 1.9 now and I think I'd take him for 3.3-3.5 for 4 years and it would be win/win for both sides. Bonino is a heck of a good player. Has skills to be a 50 point guy and he can skate better than Steps and he can play PK and PP. No brainer in my mind for us for Gorton to sniff around the Bonino camp. I think he will as well.

Also, we give up no assets and just some cap space bringing in Bonino. I think this is the move we should do. Hanzel is my 2nd choice if he'll come cheap...3.5 for 3 with Gagner for 2.5 for 3 as my third choice. I think we'll end up with one of these 3...hopefully it will be Bonino.

I'd definitely take a run at Bonino
