I hope Graves has a strong camp and earns a spot as well.

Let's say we sign Shattenkirk and Smith. McDonagh, Skjei, and Staal are locked in. That leaves Holden, Bereglazov, DeAngelo, Pionk, and Graves fighting for that last D spot. Right now I don't see a scenario where Pionk or Graves crack the roster. It should be good competition for that last spot this year.

I never said miller is terrible. Miller for Reinhart is terrible. Miller doesn't sniff Reinhart's ceiling. Propose that trade to the Buffalo fans and see what happens.

nobody on the main board in a trade threat agrees on any value... there's a reason for that, fans either over value or under value their own players.

Bereglazov shoots left - wouldn't he be fine playing on the left side despite being a right defenseman the past year in the KHL?

Either move Staal this year or in the next off-season and go with this

McDonagh Shattenkirk
Skjei Smith
Bereglazov DeAngelo

You could even flip Smith and DeAngelo, or Smith and Bereglazov

And that's a really good defense.

Idk though the Stepan trade really throws this in the air for me though, I don't know what they have planned.

I don't think the Rangers sign Smith if they sign Shattenkirk..

Could be that the organization that there's an for a big payday if he steps up, or there are two very talented centers that the organization just drafted that could chase his ass out of town if he doesn't.

I wouldn't do that for Duchene. Hes overrated.

Get me Galchenyuk Mackinnon or Coyle

MacKinnon is not on the table I'm 99% sure about that.

Gally worries me as a center, a winger I can see but not as a Center.

Additionally, stop with the overrated stuff with Duchene. Dude is a legit talent. Colorado is AWFUL.

based on google pics he wore 77 in sarnia and arizona. wore 97 in tampa cause hedman already had 77

i wouldn't be surprised if the rangers website just put 77 cause it was his number in arizona and not his official number yet

What I'd like to see:

We've got $20M in capspace.

Resign:

Fast, hmm. $1.5M for 2-4 years?
Zibanejad: $5.5-6M for 5-6 years.
Smith: $4-4.5M - 4 years
Trade:

Holden $1.6M

Other :

Trade/retire Klein, $2.9M

Sign;

Shattenkirk; $6.5M, 6, 7 year tops.
J. Thornton: $6-7M, max 2 years. Or $5.5M for 3 years.

Trading/retiring Klein and Holden gives us: $24.5M in capspace. We sign a cheap backup, we might have to trade Grabs (would want to keep him).

We could also trade Nash. This is his last year. $7.8M coming of would help A lot.

And Thornton would help us more than Nash would. Thornton replaces Stepan for 2 years, then Lias Andersson steps in for us.

Thornton is big, he would provide great playmaking and win a lot of draws for us.

Defence would be;

McDonagh - Shattenkirk
Skjei - Smith
Staal - DeAngelo

Staal gets a shifty, quick d-man with great vision and someone who can help Staal out since he reacts in slow-mo.

Fwds:

Kreider
Zucc
Nash (?)
Miller
Thornton
Zibanejad
Grabner (?)
Hayes
Fast
Vesey
Buchnevich
The rest are young players/vets signed cheap.

And an adequate backup goaltender.

We'd have 2 great PP QB's in Shatty and DeAngelo

Thornton would be a great stop gap until Andersson comes over. And Thornton would win us draws, which could be nice :).

What do you guys think?

If we don't resign Nash or just trade him ($ retained) we'd get a pretty decent return. Trading Nash would help us money-wise. Also i think this team could make some damage.

Hope they change the number but I understand if he is doing it to honor Espo. Both Italians and his dad may have been a Espo fan back in the day. Or maybe he is a Ray Bourque fan?

So reinhart hasn't lived to expectations in his young career, mostly used as a wing, struggles away from eichel, similar production if not slightly under Miller's rate, questions about work ethic. I'm asking what buffalo adds because i dont see any reason to trade our center turned wing for their center turned wing with just as many question marks but no proof of reaching that ceiling that miller can't sniff.

Buffalo can hang onto their guy if it's laughable. Their front office wasn't laughing too much this summer.

He wore 77

Thanks, was being very lazy not looking it up myself :)

Has there been any talk about what Michael Stone is looking for as a FA? I thought he looked good at times with the Yotes and even better with Calgary down the stretch. Could be an option if Smith wants too much or signs elsewhere
