Can we see what McDonagh looks like away from Girardi before we trade him?

Or maybe never trade him?

And maybe stop trying to rebuild?

1)Most rebuilds fail

2)We're a couple of pieces away from being an excellent team and we have enough cap space to buy a yacht.

3)In today's league you have to downright dreadful to not be in Stanley Cup contention. We're not dreadful.

4)We CAN'T tank. This is team is literally too talented.

5)If we were rebuilding, why would we get rid of Girardi who is ****ing awful, but also "muh experienced leader" and is basically the ultimate tank piece?

I'd rather move someone else other than Mcdonagh to get him, and I think that's very possible.

I doubt it but if you can make it happen more power to you. The Rangers are obviously retooling, if not rebuilding and the return on the Hamonic trade is a game changer. If the Rangers don't sign Shattenkirk there is no reason to think that the Rangers feel their window is still open. Also with his extension coming up, now is the time.

I tend to agree, unless they really can flip a Forward for a top RHD in a trade..

We could contend with a defense of

McDonagh-Braun
Skjei-Smith
LiterallyAnyoneButStaal-DeAngelo

But I'd still rather it be Shattenkirk. Braun would cost assets. We can just buy Shattenkirk.

I wish folks would stop equating rebuild with tank. I am in favor of a rebuild, but I most certainly do not want a tank (and I agree with you in that I don't think it would be possible with this team).

Given McDonagh's age and contract status (phenomenal deal, 2 years left, no NTC), as well as what prime (and even not so prime) defensemen have been fetching in trades over the last year, it's the perfect time to trade him. Though to be clear, I'd hope we could get MORE than Reinhart for McD if we did.

Lastly, the quote should be "So long and thanks for all the fish". :)

back to Rinehart..

Sabres are not very strong on the wings.. Rangers are.
Rangers need a center. Sabres already have their top 2 there that they have Rinehart playing on the wing.

Lets make a deal.

Wonder what Braun would cost in a trade after seeing what Hamonic just went for.

There is no perfect time to trade your #1 D. There's not even a good time to do it. That's why nobody does it, unless a better #1 D is coming back. (Weber for Subban)

Everyone is wetting themselves over the Hamonic deal but some a couple of things to consider -

-Hamonic was basically their #4 D. McDonagh is arguably our best player. What the two teams would be losing is not remotely comparable.

-Calgary got fleeced so hard that a ram tried to mate with them. It's an outlier value that can't be applied to other trades. "Oh if Hamonic got that, imagine what McDonagh gets..." Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if McDonagh only brought back slightly more from a GM who isn't drunk.

Ask the Buffalo fans. But spell his name right first.

Let's see if they end up getting fleeced so hard. It's not a given, that's for sure.

I'd have qualified Pirri after losing Lindberg and trading Stepan, but that wasn't anywhere close to AV's radar and we all know that.

I mean, he won 57.6% of his faceoffs last year. I've been made aware that this is very important.

He did a good job on faceoffs. That impressed me. A lot of the rest of his game (outside of a very good shot) was slacking for sure but I would tell him that we may still have some interest after we see how things pan out if he is still available. I do not know if he is the kind of player we would ever dress in the playoffs but I would not have a problem dressing him as our 4th line center for many regular season games until a better option appears.

fans on this board? they have no idea what real value is, they live in fantasy land.

Is this the same fantasy land where we trade McDonagh for a stud young center, 23 first round picks, and the Queen of England?

Or does each team have a different fantasy land allocated specifically to that team?
