I will be dumbfounded if Hayes plays well as our 2C next season.

I would love for it to happen, but I can't see it.

I have no idea why a person would be that shocked that a young player progressed in his career.

I mean, I'm not guaranteeing anything. I have my doubts too. I just don't know why there would be surprise.

I'm not taking that return. Even if 2018 is epic, that pick will be 25 or later. Not going to be that epic. I'd rather have Anisimov

I don't see them trading Anisimov just so that they can thrust Schmaltz at center (he played wing with JT last year btw) with Kane. They're trying to win next year.

Yeah he could absolutely take a step forward. Same for Zibanejad. We could sign a stopgap 3C and it's entirely possible that we get better center play this year than last. I'm not saying to bank on it, but it's possible. Zibanejad and Hayes are still not finished products.

Someone on the main board suggested 'McDonagh for Drasitil'

Thoughts?

Edmonton would never ever do that.

Draisaitl is one of the best forwards in the league at age, what 20?

And they are set on the LHD. Klefbom, Sekera, Russell.

Laughable proposal TBH.

Schmaltz is a C though. They just brought Toews' buddy Saad back to get JT going again. Kane is the rare winger that makes his centers better too.

They wouldn't but they would probably play in multiple cups with mcdonagh

I would love for Gorton to trade Staal for Lehtonen or Niemi.

49 points in 76 games as a 24 year old. That's very good #3C production. He just turned 25 and is still developing. No reason he can't pot 20 and reach 55-60 points. That's a good #2C right there so not sure why you'd be dumbfounded.

Staal to Dallas would be nice. Yes we'd be spending a fortune in net but cutting staal out of the equation would be amazing would be able to give hank 30 games off easy

Hayes scored 1 less point than Thornton and 4 more than AA (who missed some time with injury), while playing with line mates who weren't nearly as good. If we are talking about signing/trading for either of them to play #2C, why not just let Hayes have another shot at it?

I love the idea of using our cap space to absorb bad contracts similar to how the NBA does. Taking advantage of Chicago or Dallas in getting rid of Kruger and one of the goalies is a really good idea.

Thats 2C production.

I think people in general have a distorted view of what a 1st line center produces.

But people have a right to be a bit worried about him handling 2nd line duties. He got off to a great start and then straight up disappeared last year, and that was with more favorable matchups.

I don't see an issue with him going into the season with that role though. It will give management a pretty good idea of what to do with him next summer.

Trading mcdonagh would be A level stupidity. If you trade mcdonagh you might as well trade everyone that on the team that isnt Buchnevich or Deangelo

Because we haven't had one since Nylander.

After seeing what the Isles got for Hamonic, I am certainly taking calls.
