In theory, trading Nash to Chicago could be a could move, depending on the return
Depends on if they deem themselves contenders next season
They clearly are trying to get out of the Kruger contract, he isn't going to light the world on fire but he is a solid 3/4C.
Kruger + Schmaltz for Nash retained
Chicago gets no immediate cap savings, but they get out of Krugers contract, and get another good player to help them push for a cup
If we have no luck finding a #1 center would it be nuts to ask Ottawa about Brassard? He only has 2 years left on his deal. Cap hit of 5 mill. Ottawa may be willing to move his contract.
Kruger isn't good enough for Nash.
Anisimov because Rangers 2C. Nash replaces Hossa (they are the same player) and then they get the cap relief (that they need more than anything else) in the summer.
I can't think of too many teams that have a top line center, or probably top line center to spare that would also need someone like McDonagh. Buffalo and Reinhart is the only one that jumps out at me, but I don't think he ever materializes as a really quality 1C.
But the Rangers believe Hayes will be their 2C, according to what Gorton said yesterday. So if we take him at his word, they will be looking for a 3C
And Kruger is just a cap dump in that deal that happens to be a decent center. Schmaltz is the real asset

Reinhart is the same player as Galchenyuk. I am not high on him at all. Their secondary pieces are not attractive either.
I just don't see Hayes as a 2C at this point. Nothing from last season makes me think he's ready for top 6 minutes on this team.

Why not just absorb Kruger's contract with additional picks, and the maximize Nash's value in a different deal? I don't see a cap-strapped team as a landing spot for Nash.

I actually like that idea. Kruger is considerably overpaid, but only has two years left on his deal and the Rangers could use a 4C.
Apparently the asking price for Duchene is a LHD with potential and another prospect or pick.
