Veteran, experienced D-man with pedigree on reasonable contract: Staal (w. retention)

Just don't move Skjei, Zib, Buch or any of the prospects.

I think Kreider is also on the don't move list. Vesey, they would never get another college kid if they moved him (unless it's for a superstar), and Miller and Hayes should only be moved if the return is well worth it.

I'm starting to come around on the idea of Galchenyuk, but I'm still not excited about it. Sam Bennet is another intriguing option. Maybe Rakell out in Anaheim? There's some damn good young players out there, but we just need to find the right deal.

I'm going to keep pumping this one: Zucc or Nash at 50% retained for Henrik Borgstrom and Mark Pysyk/Demers. Gives you a top-4 RHD with term or up for a new contract and another good C prospect that'll be NHL ready in a year or two.

Yes they have some valuable players, but most teams do not move centers for wingers.
 
I have no idea which direction this team is heading nor do I have any idea of what to hope we do.

Skjei, Zib, Buch, Kreider, Vesey, Zucc, Miller, Hayes, DeAngelo, Shestyorkin, the two firsts this year. In our situation I'd count Skjei and probably Zib as untouchable but that's a good job building assets. I made fun of it earlier but yeah, we can do something really wacky by putting two or three of the names on that list together.

Evander Kane's contract expires in 2017-18, what on earth does his market look like?

I'm assuming they're not interested in moving a giant package for a top center as in 3 of those guys.
 
The more I think about it, the more I'm really warming up to the idea that with the emergence of Skjei, McD now 28 and down to two years remaining on his amazing contract, and the current market for defensemen (as evidenced by the Larsson trade last year and the Hamonic trade today), they should be at least testing the market for McD.
 
Offer sheets are so rare there is no point in bringing them up. Put Bennett in the Galchenyuk category: unproven and overhyped, in varying degrees. Bennett is underwhelming so far. Is it Calgary? Misuse? He is what he is?

Same for Galchenyuk regarding center. I'll take either on a buy low deal. Fans are terrible sources, but both fanbases insist they are only available as a pry them from my cold dead fingers deal.

Yzerman is impossible to deal with so I have no expectation for a Johnson trade.

Bryan Little in winnepeg? Perreault has some center experience.
Edit: 1 year left, ntc (14 teams) for little, $4.7m
4 years for perreault, 5 team ntc, $4.125m. *extension signed last summer, starts this year. Less likely.

Galchenyuk and Bennett both make sense, at least as targets. Needs to be for less than what their fans expect, however...

I'm not sure the Rangers are intending to get younger "everywhere" perhaps its only on the blue line with Skjei, De angelo, and options like Berezgalov, Pionk, etc.

is very good imo well balanced all can skate 3 out of 4 are two way defenceman and the last one hopefully is the offensive dman we have been lacking, the last pair we have beargloves, Pionk, Day, Graves, Zboro.

The picks we made in the first round i think was smart with petterson and glass off the board. They were safe but both players have high floors and play complete 200ft games and have high hockey IQ and can both skate well, we dont need to have a team having mental breakdowns in our zone and late in the game we already have a team full of those.

Next season deal Nash at the deadline for a first and take best offers on Grabner and Holden. we should net at minimum a first, second, and a third. Go for pure skill there in a better draft, and knowning we have 200ft guys already in the system.

so we're sending out 3 wingers (2 for Trouba) and Zucc to get back assets just to get Trouba? geezus. who plays offense?

The love for Trouba on this board is insane, can he at least prove he's worth giving up 3 players for before you do it?
