Cap space. They can eat bad contracts.
Superstar D on ridiculous contract: McD
Solid, productive vets on reasonable contracts: Nash (w. retention) or Zucc, perhaps even Kreider.
Intriguing younger players with talent on cheap contracts: Miller, Vesey, Hayes.
Steady, inexpensive, D-man who can play both sides: Holden.
Veteran, experienced D-man with pedigree on reasonable contract: Staal (w. retention)
Just don't move Skjei, Zib, Buch or any of the prospects.
This is silly. They have an outstanding top line winger on a great deal in Zucc that would easily fetch a good asset. They can make a hockey type of trade and move Miller or Hayes. Hell, they can shock us all and trade Kreider. We have assets to trade, it's just a matter of to whom and for what?
I'm starting to come around on the idea of Galchenyuk, but I'm still not excited about it. Sam Bennet is another intriguing option. Maybe Rakell out in Anaheim? There's some damn good young players out there, but we just need to find the right deal.
I'm going to keep pumping this one: Zucc or Nash at 50% retained for Henrik Borgstrom and Mark Pysyk/Demers. Gives you a top-4 RHD with term or up for a new contract and another good C prospect that'll be NHL ready in a year or two.
offersheet candidates: sam bennett, andreas athanasiou, conor brown, burakovsky (mess up the Caps!)
That 4 players becomes 5 if you sign Shattenkirk. That means 2 spots, hopefully both in the lineup, for Bereglazov, Deangelo, and/or Pionk/Paliotta. My aim would be Holden as the 7.
What are the Rangers offering for a bigger trade?.. They don't have that many impact players, unless a team is looking for a complete rebuild and the Rangers are willing to offer Skjei, Buch or someone like that.
Skjei, Zib, Buch, Kreider, Vesey, Zucc, Miller, Hayes, DeAngelo, Shestyorkin, the two firsts this year. In our situation I'd count Skjei and probably Zib as untouchable but that's a good job building assets. I made fun of it earlier but yeah, we can do something really wacky by putting two or three of the names on that list together.
Evander Kane's contract expires in 2017-18, what on earth does his market look like?
I'm assuming they're not interested in moving a giant package for a top center as in 3 of those guys.
Rangers do not have the pieces to get a center better than Stepan in a trade..
What are we offering? Mcdonagh?
Skjei, buch and the 2018 1st?
Thornton in a wheelchair![]()
Nash for Anisimov makes an extraordinary amount of sense
Offer sheets are so rare there is no point in bringing them up. Put Bennett in the Galchenyuk category: unproven and overhyped, in varying degrees. Bennett is underwhelming so far. Is it Calgary? Misuse? He is what he is?
Same for Galchenyuk regarding center. I'll take either on a buy low deal. Fans are terrible sources, but both fanbases insist they are only available as a pry them from my cold dead fingers deal.
Yzerman is impossible to deal with so I have no expectation for a Johnson trade.
Bryan Little in winnepeg?
Doesn't fit the "get younger" mantra.
Galchenyuk and Bennett both make sense, at least as targets. Needs to be for less than what their fans expect, however...
Chicago has like -2 million in cap space as it is..
They would be adding 3.5 to it, unless we're retaining half of Nash's deal?
Honest question - if we don't go for Shattenkirk, what are some options for 1RD?

Just get me TROUBA.
send out 2 of our wingers to recoup assets needed for him. Deal Zucc get back picks prospects build a package of that plus miller for Hanifin, or go directly to Winnipeg. Can we pry Theodore from vegas?
a top 4 of
Mcdonagh Trouba
Skeji DeAngelo
is very good imo well balanced all can skate 3 out of 4 are two way defenceman and the last one hopefully is the offensive dman we have been lacking, the last pair we have beargloves, Pionk, Day, Graves, Zboro.
The picks we made in the first round i think was smart with petterson and glass off the board. They were safe but both players have high floors and play complete 200ft games and have high hockey IQ and can both skate well, we dont need to have a team having mental breakdowns in our zone and late in the game we already have a team full of those.
Next season deal Nash at the deadline for a first and take best offers on Grabner and Holden. we should net at minimum a first, second, and a third. Go for pure skill there in a better draft, and knowning we have 200ft guys already in the system.
