It was ARI, VGK, or MIN... Minny didn't have any centers taken so they came off. Vegas isn't looking to be competitive right away, so they dropped off too. That left Arizona

literally you take that deal and RUN with it... worst case you buy out Kane and the buyout is MUCH smaller than Staal.

Move Nash for futures, replace Nash with Kane--offense is still there, but you just stocked the farm up, and got out from the anchor known as Staal.

Maybe Eichel won't hate him as much? Staal really doesn't want to be "just in the league" :sarcasm:

Not sure how this is a bad return. Its not like stepan is a top C who is getting 65-70 points and skates like the wind. We got a top 10 pick and nother former first rounder who is young and has upside.

I suggested...it might be 2 threads ago now lol...Nash @ 50% + Staal for Kane + Georges.

I don't think Staal is gonna get traded, but I would do that deal.
 
People forget that the STEPAN deal had to be done before July 1st. Given that fact, I think we did great for the future of our team. Drafted a second rounder, he gave us a lot of good years, and then we flipped him for 7th overall and a top 4 D. So enough with the *****ing. This also allows us to go get Shatty. Never pleasing you guys. Sometimes I really do see how we overrate some of our players.

If all this was done so the rangers could get involved in a SK bidding war, I'll be beyond disappointed.

Our fans overrate certain players. Stepan is a fan favorite and I like him but its not like he was a elite C he was a real good number 2 Center who has flaws. This is quite a good return. Plus his big cap hit is gone so we can add on. So basically we get the 7th, Deangelo, and possibly Shatty and C to replace him
