I'm not thrilled with the return but this is the exact type of trade I've been hoping for.

We weren't winning a Cup without a franchise center and since we have been a playoff team for over a decade, we've never had a shot at a top pick, where the franchise centers are only available.

Now, we have our best chance at drafting and developing our guy. Finally.

Going into next season with Stepan as our 1c would have been the worst possible thing.

Running in circles, no longer.

I agree, if they make this trade they should be making others to suit, instead I fear they will run around now and try to build a playoff team where no matter what they do the team will maybe be good, but not good enough to compete with the top contenders.

I would think we are 95% drafting a Center. Lots of good ones.

Either trade for Duchene/Gally. Or sign Thornton as stop gap.

If somehow we unloaded staal and had a decent draft this would be a terrific offseason for the future health of this team
