I know that has been said many times but now Arizona has a nice spot open for him so I was wondering if they will get in the Fleury trade game. Maybe Fleury would prefer Arizona? Would Pit be able to do that or is it impossible?

The only way would be via a trade with Vegas after the ED. Penguins are not trading MAF to Zona this late in the game.

I know some fans here are ready to pack Stepan's bags (which I again will say is ridiculous and naive) but this guy has a lot to offer. He is a solid center. Just because he isnt an elite number one doesnt mean he isnt a very good number two. He has a lot of value. Gorton wont settle IF they do move him.

As he shouldn't. I don't think anyone on here was proposing Stepan for the #7 straight up.

I'm "for" trading him just because I think this team needs a real shakeup at this point, but I"m not exactly all in on trade him for anything.

I think some big parts of this team need to be moved out and the team restructured. Can't do that if you hold onto everyone

Nobody here is saying to give him away ... but you listen to offers and if you can substantially make the team better now and in the future ... you do it. That's all.

If not, two of Brodin, Scandella, Dumba would have to be exposed in expansion draft. MIN could try to do deal with VGK to lay off those D.

Yet some people here are talking about trading Stepan in order to protect Lindberg before the expansion draft..

some teams have real problems.

Might have missed it but I don't remember anyone saying they wanted to trade DStep in order to PROTECT Lindberg. Folks saying he could step in and be a 3rd line center yeah I've read that

I do think that is very valid point. I've been saying the culture of the team is way too chill.

But what good is a very good number two unless you have an elite number one in front of him?

The thing is this is just awful timing to trade Stepan with the ED looming, this draft sucking and so many teams either not being good enough to trade for Stepan or teams not having the cap space for him.

They want it done by 3PM.. Stepan can be traded any time in the next 2 weeks still, this isn't a deadline for anything really.

This has been explained ad nauseum. To say we are "ready to pack his bags" just for the sake of it is to be intentionally obtuse.

I think its time we start to question these insiders "credibility" because this is two straight seasons of hyped movements and yet the bare minimum happens.

The only thing that matters is them clicks. These guys are selling their souls to drive traffic in an almost dead industry.

I still fail to see how getting rid of Stepan somehow lands us an elite number 1.

Stepan for the 7th OA in this weak draft is pretty much "packing his bags for him" whether you say you don't want to do that, your actions are showing different.

So the answer is to remove a homegrown 26 year old #2 center and replace him with what?

Youre not getting an elite #1 center back. So essentially be left with no #1. No #2. And hopw Zibanejad can come into his own and be a #2

Way ahead of you. Most of it is a bunch of speculation or others jumping on information already posted in papers or on twitter.

The 7th OA last year would've gotten us back Keller who would be the best asset we'd have in the entire organization.

Now is not the time to trade Stepan with this poor of a draft.

Going full steam ahead with Stepan as the #1c is certainly not the answer either though.
