I - and likely most of us who were speculating it would happen today - were inferring that the Rangers would move him today, because of the open D slot in the expansion draft that the G buyout created. A forward for defenseman deal makes sense in that context.

Pittsburgh isn't trading Fleury anyway they need him to expose because they have no other goalie to expose in the next 28 minutes.

Fleury did Pittsburgh a huge solid by waiving specifically for Vegas Rutherford isn't going to stab him in the back at the last second.

If not, two of Brodin, Scandella, Dumba would have to be exposed in expansion draft. MIN could try to do deal with VGK to lay off those D.

Yet some people here are talking about trading Stepan in order to protect Lindberg before the expansion draft..

I know that has been said many times but now Arizona has a nice spot open for him so I was wondering if they will get in the Fleury trade game. Maybe Fleury would prefer Arizona? Would Pit be able to do that or is it impossible?

I know some fans here are ready to pack Stepan's bags (which I again will say is ridiculous and naive) but this guy has a lot to offer. He is a solid center. Just because he isnt an elite number one doesnt mean he isnt a very good number two. He has a lot of value. Gorton wont settle IF they do move him.

Why would vegas make any kind of deal with Minnesota if they can take either Brodin or Dumba (whoever isn't exposed with Scandella) in the draft?
