In theory yes, but this won't happen for the same reasons offer sheets don't happen... The motherbleeping Old Boys Club... I hate it...

No way. It'd be absolutely CRIMINAL if teams that aren't LV didn't take advantage of this situation.

Josh Manson is on the trade block, indubitably on the trade block.

Organizations need to be all over that

The problem for the ducks and wild was that they had 3 or more very good players that they couldn't protect. You either gut your team by turning those guys into futures, open up spots by trading your core for futures or pay a ransom that Vegas has zero obligation to accept. How do you make it worth gmgm's worthwhile to pass on Manson or silferberg? A 3rd rd pick to take vermette or cogliano?

Anaheim probably asked for the moon to trade away manson, at least if the main board was working the phones. Now Vegas can actually be reasonable and swing that trade.

Heard Coyotes were very frustrated they could get more accomplished. Sounds like they really tried to do more.

My POV is that Smith to Calgary was a salary dump. They will not find a goaltender as good as him after the dust settles. He gave a very young, inexperienced team a chance to win on most nights last season.

I think that if Stepan is to be traded, Vegas just became the leading candidate.

Yeah, they need to, but they need to abuse offer sheets to, but it doesn't happen anyways...
I hate the old boys club so much, unwritten rules of bullcrap.

What would Vegas give us? I assume this is post expansion draft? Could go a lot of directions here.

Ehm, there are atleast 2 UFAs better then Smith in Elliott and Mason. Also Raanta is likely a lot better, Yotes have options.

Given what the rumors are about what Vegas is doing i'd say it's EXTREMELY unlikely they're going after a mid/late 20's 1C...
They seem to be looking long term and building from the draft.

If Vegas does select Manson, could he be the centerpiece of a Stepan deal, with a 1st thrown in from one of the side deals GMGM has made?

Got to love the narrative the ducks fans are spinning. They are actually in better shape now than before, guys! The deal with Vegas will leave them in better shape!

What's the logic behind Vegas making all these deals so they don't get the best possible team, then to trade for a mid/late 20's 1C?
I just don't see how that makes sense for Vegas at all.

Tom Wilson is an average 4th liner who's pretty good on the PK and plays a reckless game and should be suspended several times a season, protecting him is madness.

You are assuming the best offer a UFA would get is Arizona and they would take it. Both assumptions problematical.

Raanta could be a great chip for the Rangers if Vegas passes on him. Stay tuned.

Not to mention that Smith is almost criminally underrated on this board.

I guess it's an indication of how top heavy their roster is.

Also because Oshie is unprotected since he is a UFA

Caps might be in trouble next year..

I'd love if we could get our hands on Nate Schmidt by the way.
