I really don't get things like that, we've had atrocious D, that's why we haven't won. Stepan being the 1C has nothing to do with that.

Not like trading Stepan will suddenly mean we have a bonafide top line center either...

Yeah I also love this narrative that Stepan being our 1C is the reason we don't have a cup. Not Staal and Girardi. Stepan.

This place..... oy.

Dubois would give us the best shot at developing a legit top center in what 20 years? I'll take my chances since it should be obvious by now that we currently have is just not good enough.

Outside of maybe 3 teams in the East, Stepan is the worst 1C. With one of those teams being the Habs. The fact they haven't made it work with Galchenyuk is a hue indictment against their coaching and player development. And then the Devils (though they're about to get their guy) and the Hurricanes.

Getting Galchenyuk to play to his full potential is going to make or break their chances at being a legit Cup contender. If Galchenyuk breaks out this year we are bottom two in the East for top line centers.

Have we? Many thought the same thing last year and he had his best overall year(except for the playoffs) so who knows. t depends on what is being offered.

He's a physical force but I don't think we've seen an improvement in his "hockey IQ" since he's been here. That's the biggest thing holding him back, aside from bad decision making on the ice he seems to be a mental case.

I don't think he is a dumb player. I agree sometimes he thinks too much and thats where he gets into trouble. But you can say the same thing for JT Miller who also has yet to put it together consistently and his playoff career has been pretty dreadful. However I think JT is still a good piece for us to have

I haven't really seen anyone say it's all on Stepan. The issues with G/S and the defence in general have been discussed all over these boards, but in the roster building thread, where we know they have very little value in helping us build a future roster, it seems to make a lot more sense that the discussion revolves around a guy like Stepan who can bring back some pieces that change/rebuild a roster

To be clear, I'm not really pushing for trading either, unless its good value.
Me neither. Having Kreider and Stepan back isn't a bad thing at all despite what some think. One thing that bothers me bout our fans base is that if a player struggles at some point they're damaged goods all of a sudden lol

Very quiet day which is surprising after all of the "Insiders" though we would see alot of action today.

I imagine that most of the action could take place tomorrow close to the deadline. GMs feeling pressure to finish deals before the freeze.

If settling in around 30-30 is his best, why do we want to get rid of that?

There are other wingers who should go first, and by that I mean all of them. Hes the last wing this team should trade.
That's the way I feel. Yes he struggled in the playoffs but so did other top guys too. Replacing kreider isn't as easy as it sounds.

Was thinking the Rangers would make a trade for a D. Now that they have an extra protection spot, and some good forwards they can't protect.

No it's really not.

Trading Stepan for futures, other than a good C signals a rebuild.

Kevin Hayes is not a top 6 C on a team trying to win a cup. There are people arguing that Hayes and Lindberg can replace Stepan's mins. Hayes is terrible defensively. Suddenly to some people, defense isn't the most important thing ever.

If you want to rebuild, like many do, it's a moot point.

Except no one is talking about trading Stepan for just picks or prospects. Like I said. It's a terrible interpretation

Our 2 best chances were 2014 and 2017 in my opinion.

Step was good in 2014.

I don't know if we could have beat Crosby and Murray. Probably not.

There's so much wrong with this, holy ****... I'm too tired to break it down, i just think you're very very wrong.
