Great. Let's build our team in the mold of Pittsburgh, since that seems to be the only way you seem fit.

Where are we getting 2 generational talents to play center, a speedy winger scoring 30 goals, a goalie on an ELC who will win 2 cups as a rookie, and an elite PMD?

Sounds like a plan.

Seriously, can the league fix a lottery draft so we can land a generational player? Plz?

But they didn't win.

And being literally 3 goals from winning is not good enough for me. And it shouldn't be for you either.

They didn't win, but they probably should have, they were clearly the better team even without Johansen and Fiala. Point is, there isn't just one way to win, there isn't a necessary formula to win the cup.

Yeah call me when TML wins a cup. Not saying they won't, but they haven't proven **** yet. Keep in mind the Islanders had the 1st pick, then the 5th, then the 5th, then the 4th.

But I guess if "That is all it takes to turn an entire franchise around" then I gotta go put some money on the Islanders!

Or you can respond to this post blaming Capuano, and then we can talk about the goal posts moving again.

Plus Colorado has had lots of high end top talent centers in the last 4 years. Stastny, ROR, Duchene, MacKinnon but they've had just enough games won in the playoffs that you can count it with your two hands and one of them is because Dan Boyle shot the puck into his own net.

Every problem is created just about equal when you consider there are 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 1 goalie. Defense (and bad coaching) is what lost us the cup final. Dan Girardi served it straight to a Kings player in game 1 in overtime. That's not the lack of a superstar center, that's Dan Girardi. Staal-Holden tanked our playoffs like I have never seen before. That's not on Stepan.

The Rangers are too arrogant for their own good. They have to uphold their reputation as the best organization in hockey, playing in the World's Most Famous Arena, and the team that everyone loves to play for.

Instead of trying to hot-shot their way to a Cup (Nash, Yandle, Staal trades, signing Shattenkirk), they need to build the team the right way through the draft.

But this organization is too arrogant for a rebuild. We had a good run, but came up short and the same thing is going to happen this year as well.

It's time to shift priorities from trying to get Lundqvist his Cup and start taking care of the future.

Preach.

It's just insane to me that people claim there's this magic formula to winning a cup. If that formula existed every team would do whatever it took to make it happen.

There's no magic formula.

This should be the package but highly doubt Staal waives to go to AZ

questionable when a budget team like ARI, as much as they need to hit the cap floor, decides to take on $50,000,000 worth of salary in a single trade.

Supposedly Stepan blocked everybody on twitter that talked trash after his PO this year LOL

He didn't really do that did he?

Have you guys noticed that Brooks and Zipay can talk trash about our players but if somebody talks badly about them they get blocked? Interesting that they can dish it out but not take it.

There's no magic formula.

It is what every team who has won a Cup dating back to the Penguins first in '09 has in common.

Outside of the Bruins, but Thomas played out of his mind and the Bruins would never be able to bully their way to a Cup like they did in today's NHL. And even then they still had that Cup winning formula.

A franchise center in Bergeron, a very good almost elite center in Krejci, 30 goal/60 point wingers in Horton and Lucic and a franchise top 5 defenseman in Chara.
