Graves is maybe muscle mass + skating the puck more out of the zone away from being an NHLer. No need to rush him.

Some may view him as a charity pick for the All-Star game, but I like the tools, and the head for the game.

40-50 more games in the AHL before getting a taste imo.

I think Tallon may love what Nash brings whereas he may not value Pysyk as much as analytics do. Even if Pysyk(other D) is not involved, Nash to Florida makes sense. I can see them being interested in Eberle as well.

I could be wrong but I think a problem for Florida might be Nash's actual salary. Cap hit is $7.8m but he gets $8.2m in paid money. Dallas, who have a projected to be $16m under the cap may fit better. Limited NTC may also put a damper on Florida, but I don't know that as a fact.

Right now Dallas' wings are Benn, Roussel, McKenzie, Cracknell, Hemsky, Ritchie, Sharp and Hudler. Not exactly overwhelming outside of Benn.

I still maintain that Nash's best value will be closer to the deadline when his cap hit is down. Obviously there's a risk that we hang onto him if we are competitive or he gets hurt. I'm not worried about his production declining. If he's a rental, that team will value his two way play and view him as a complimentary piece. He would easily return a 1st in the 2018 draft and a high prospect/young player. It wouldn't have to be a deadline deal, probably after the new year. I take that risk but I understand the thought process of just cashing in now.

This i do agree with very much. There's definitely a deal to be made there if we want to move Nash, not sure how it would look though.

How do you guys like Myers out of Winnipeg? Can't imagine he'd cost much considering they're currently in the 8 skaters model (protecting Byfuglien, Trouba, Enstrom, Myers)

I like him but I don't know about the fit in our style. I'd rather re-sign Smith if a Myers type was on the radar. Save the asset, save on cap, know that he fits on the 2nd pair already.

Dont have to be a wise ass about it. I got it now.

Clearly cant ask a simple question on this board anymore or the wolves will come out.

I don't think he's being a wise-ass more than just it's a question that gets asked every day. Stickying it would actually be a pretty good idea.

Like stickying that Stepan's full NTC is only two-years long, and not four-years long :)

I just don't see that ever happening.

Not a sacred cow argument, but it just seems to me that Henrik is the kind of guy who would sooner go back and play for Frolunda with his brother than waive to go to another NHL franchise.

How important is winning a cup to Hank? Perhaps more relevant, what team that Hank would be a certain starter on be a better competitor for the cup than the Rangers? Look at NYR's playoff history in the past few years- technically we are a perennial mid-chance contender.

pysyk makes everyone he plays with better.

hes a solid 2nd line defender and a good 2nd option to smith signing with the laughs

Yeah, I prefer signing Smith to trading assets, but if something goes wrong with contract talks, Pysyk is definitely one of my top choices.

Fortunately, we can save some sticky space because it's looking like the bolded won't matter ~28 hours from now :naughty:

this question gets asked every few pages. It is nothing against you, but the expansion rules are literally a Google search away

Exactly. There's no landing spot for Hank who can
A. Afford him with their cap situation
Or
B. Doesn't already have a elite goaltender (I.e. Washington, Pittsburgh, Minnesota).

Chicago could make sense, but their cap situation prevents that.
Anaheim is the same situation.
Hank is staying and I have no complaints

I don't think florida would even consider it for a second, but I think you have to ask about a deal based around Stepan for Huberdeau. They probably hang up since they just re-signed him, but if there was a team that might make a risky trade, I think it's them. Just so you can say you did your due diligence. Step is only $600k more, only signed for 2 years less.

Blerg.

If we trade Stepan, we really, really better get good value back, and there better be a good contingency plan in there for our center depth that isn't running zib>hayes>lindberg>_____

I find myself very nervous about a potential Stepan trade.

What's not to like about a center depth of Zibanejad-Galchenyuk-Hayes-Lindberg?

:naughty:

Yeah, Dallas is another team that has a need for winger and Nash makes sense for them. I thought Nash would be definitely moved to make space for Shattenkirk but since it looks like Stepan is going to be traded, not sure they are going to deal him barring some very good offers. I am not sure Rangers would trade Nash at deadline if they are good enough to contend.

What? Really? You aren't going to find a better deal for Stepan than that. Wild would hang up the phone....

All this posts needs is "AINEC" for it to be main board material

That offer Toby posted is not really fair value. I think there is a good chance Stepan won't be traded.

- He isn't a liability on the ice
- He isn't overpaid
- He isn't old, or broken
- We don't have to shed cap

Gorton is listening to offers. But if the right offer doesn't come along, he won't trade Stepan. Same with Nash. They listened to offers but the right offer just didn't come and they stuck with it.

Stepan is a 1C who plays all 3 zones, puts up 55 points a season and will be UFA when he is 31.

Nothing concrete in there about the Rangers even approaching him about going somewhere else.

The only line in there that even discusses the possibility is completely one of speculation/opinion.

I mean never say never, but I feel pretty safe in saying that it will never happen.

I don't think it will happen because Lundqvist is 35 years old. Four years remaining on the contract. $8.5M cap hit. Owed $29M in real dollars. $9M,$7.5M,$7M and $5.5M Which team is taking the contract if a team approached the Rangers and they went to him about possibly going to another team? Brooks made it sound like the Rangers would not immediately say no. Isn't everything speculation until it actually happens?

could you envision life without step if duchene comes back ?

i mean, is that a deal you would make depending on the particulars.

using stepan to add a true 1C is enticing. then we re up on brendan smith and sign shattenkirk.
