Value isn't terrible, but I don't see how they fits a need for Tampa. They're dealing forwards for D when they have the most overrated forward corps in the league.

Johnson and Palat have been average players outside of their Finals run. Stamkos is half dead. It's Kucherov and friends. Their forwards downright suck now without Drouin.

Meanwhile, how much help on D could you possibly need with Hedman and Stralman?

Forwards Tampa has not in the NHL: Gusev, Raddysh, Joseph, Stephens, Cirelli, Howden

We would be overpaying but I think a package deal that included Nate and a player for Step and Hayes might be possible.

Stepan basically replaces Nate in terms of position (although more of a 2C), but I do believe they will want a LHD. Unless we can somehow get Staal to waive his NMC, Brady is our best chip. I hate thinking about that.

Not to mention the defenders worthy of note are all left-handed except Stralman.

And with that, he acquires another LHD.

Seems like Montreal is pushing all their chips in

Price is an UFA in a year, Pacioretty in two, they're seemingly trying to squeeze all of Shea Weber's good years out of him before he becomes an anchor

Now's the time to rip them off

Condition on the picks in Tampa-Montreal trade is that if Sergachev plays 40 games for Bolts next season, there are no picks exchanged.

Including playoffs?

If not, hold him out. Give him 39, they'll make the playoffs anyway, and then he plays half the regular season, and the full postseason.

We do not have a left D to give them unless we include Graves with Step and Hayes. They could also trade Hayes for a left D. I do not think they want Staal or Holden.

I would not be shocked if Pac is available.

Nope I agree with you

Drouin is going to be a consistent 60+ point player who is spectacular on offense

Sergachev is an unknown at this point. A good prospect but still no idea how he will play in the NHL

This. They traded Top6 winger for guy who played 4 NHL games? He is great prospect but we do not know how he will in NHL. This is risk I would not take trading guy like Drouin.

I think with this trade, Stepan's value goes up now. You can get more than just Galy.

Wouldn't Drouin be a closer comparable to Galchenyuk, considering comparable age and RFA situation?

Galchenyuk's value went up too then.

They missed the playoffs last year. I wouldn't be so sure.

I agree with you. I do not think TB would play chicken for 39 games of their season with salaries around 72 million dollars just to avoid that draft pick swap. The playoffs means a lot of income.

Makes me think a Nate for Stepan + a LHD (perhaps a 3 way trade) or a LHD prospect is actually FAIR.

Going to have to be more than that. MacKinnon is Crosby/McDavid light at 21 years old. Going to take a haul to Sakic to get him.
