The only member of the top 3 I personally think would be amenable to trading down their 1st is Dallas.

They clearly had an injury laden + brain fart of a season and are looking to contend not rebuild. You could trade up to that pick by coupling a vet and another pick to it.

I'm starting to like the thought of Domi. He has showed some really nice skills and is productive. He knocked out Kesler with one punch after Kesler was going after his guys. His dad was really liked by other Ranger players.

I think Patrick is worth it. Clear #1 center. I'd applaud the Rangers for turning Stepan into him. And I think it's worth further depleting the team's resources to do. Nothing more valuable than an elite #1 center.

Sure, the Devils or Flyers are going to be more than willing to hand a #1 center to one of their fiercest rivals.

The more complicated the more unlikely. That is why I wonder what Bern is thinking with some of his trade posts. They are entertaining but sometimes bordering on impossible.

I think after the two centers, Makar and the Finn Dman go 3 & 4. Then the next group of centers go 5-6-7.

Another benefit of getting away from this we must fleece every deal mentality is we may be able to build an ongoing productive rapport w/AZ going forward

Scouts must really like what they have seen of Makar in person if he is rising that high. Might be the highest pick ever from a nontraditional developmental league.

For NYR, I don't see this as the draft to trade for a high pick. Better odds on getting the right sleeper in the mid first ala Cherepanov.

I've heard Petterson and Glass at 5 & 6 on Prospects Radio on NHL Radio. The Canucks might have interest in Petterson.

Liljegren would also be an option at 7.

Also would be happy with him there. Lot of options though I would do crazy things to trade up and get Makar.

1. Stepan is available for the right price
2. ARI trade potential with prospects and 7th OA pick
3. Acquiring 7th OA pick, Domi/Dvorak/Strome, another piece for Stepan
4. upgrading from 7th overall pick to 2nd OA pick
5. Drafting Nico/Patrick
6. Acquire RHD for Hayes+ or Miller+ now that our forward group is younger and cheaper
7. Gain $10,000,000 in cap space with additional moves to clear our roster players now that we have Strome + N or P.
8. Sign Shattenkirk and Smith with excess cap space.
