Stepan to ARI for a package including Strome.

Miller to CHI for Hossa and DeBrincat & 2nd round pick.

Oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Watch out, bern, you've got some competition

Oh man. Watching Strome feeding DeBrincat and Gropp in Hardford for a season would be pure magic.

Read the Arizona board. This particular visitor is talking about Rangers fans being idiots on his own board.

I didn't see any of that. If you did and I missed it, that is clearly against the rules and I would advise you to report it.

Them disagreeing with what we believe is fair value in a trade for Stepan... isn't surprising nor is it rule breaking (as long as they aren't directly bringing posts over there or calling out posters by name). We were guilty of the same thing with Trouba and Winnipeg.

Arizona are acting as if the Coyotes are doing the Rangers a favor by taking Stepan off their hands. The reality is that they are not the only trade partner at the table. Advantage, Gorton.

Can you blame them with the way some of our fans talk about him?

Let's say we have Strome+7OA OR Dvorak+23OA on the table. What would you guys choose? Not saying it's happening or anything, or is a fair deal, just building on posts I've seen..

Strome + 7 AINEC.

I would keep Strome and then package our 21 + 7 to move as high as possible. Think 7 + 21 is enough to get the #2 pick?

Grab Patrick or Nico. Trade Hayes for a defenseman.

Bingo, bango, bongo we are all set. Then I wake up and realize it was all just a dream.

Disagree.
It means nothing ONLY once there is a clear idea of the value of the player at NHL level. When guy has not been around long enough, there is a preliminary idea based on undersized sampling in NHL, and that is coupled vs the conventional wisdom projection of draft status.

Leo Drai was 3OA, had issues w/skating first half of rookie yr. His value was up, then down slightly. Got it all resolved, his value has properly skyrocketed.

Strome is the epitome of a crapshoot at this point.

2 years after being drafted, the draft position doesn't add anything to trade value. Nobody would take Lawson Crouse over Sebastian Aho

Very much doubt the Flyers are trading us the #2 for that package.

I think Gorton has his eyes on Strome and that pick for sure. It's a good way to rebuild and retool quickly. Most likely it would turn into 3 quality assets for this organization which is a big deal for a team lacking many.

You're likely right. I remember its usually a 2nd round pick as the price to move up 2 spots or so in the top 10. 7th + 21st + 2018 second for the 2nd overall? Still probably not happening but damn. We would be set on the C position for the next 5-7 years.

Strome's skating isn't awful, it's just not great. The thing with Strome is that he has filthy hands and the head and size to go with it. He just needs time to learn how to apply those skills at the NHL level. He plays the game the same way Thornton does. Keeps the puck on a string and uses his body to shield it.

Ugh, we'll agree to disagree on this one. Maybe I'm being too much of a hater, but I just think his skating is so damn awful. Same for his two brothers.

I don't think I'd want to do that either.

I'm not all that jazzed up about Nico or Nolan. This isn't the draft to trade up into the top 2.

Respectfully, I disagree. I think this is exactly the draft where you trade up to #2 as we can afford to do it. Do you think we would be able to afford to do it in next years draft?

Although Nico or Nolan likely aren't going to be McDavid or Matthews by any means, it doesn't mean they will be a Yakupov either.

Which means this is the draft where it's actually possible at a fair price

Bingo.

Classic.

Scouts must really like what they have seen of Makar in person if he is rising that high. Might be the highest pick ever from a nontraditional developmental league.

For NYR, I don't see this as the draft to trade for a high pick. Better odds on getting the right sleeper in the mid first ala Cherepanov.

Turris, no?

I agree wholeheartedly with your last point.

Can we all agree that OEL. Keller and. Chychrun are likely off limits?

Yup. And I'm absolutely okay with that. That's reasonable.

It's the idea that those three PLUS Domi, Strome, and Dvorak are all also off limits that ticks me off.

You want a first line center with team control for four years (in a market that can't attract good players) and your offer starts with your SEVENTH best asset (SIXTH best prospect)? GTFO.

I just think the Flyers wouldn't do it because A)We're the Rangers and they are our rivals and B)there's no actual player attached to those picks coming from the Rangers that would make it worthwhile for them to give up Patrick/Nico

I dunno. I think the 21st + 2nd is a hefty price to pay to move up from 7th to 2nd. It isn't like we are trying to jump from 15th to 2nd.

OEL is fair to hold back.

If we're trading for an unproven prospect I want my pick of their best, so no the other two being off limits is not fair.

It was mentioned below. Step is in his prime, signed for 4 more years at a reasonable contract in a market where they can't attract anyone.

They can keep hoarding prospects and finishing 13th every year or they can cash in those assets.

I hang up on them if they take any prospect off the table.

But.. I don't want prospects for Stepan anyway so I have no interest in Arizona as a trade partner.
