That was painful to read. Brooks has been absolutely brutal since they stopped leaking him information. His lack of knowledge when it comes to any team other than the Rangers is mind boggling.

LOL you are insulting the NY Rangers fans. I believe a lot of what he prints is posted on various boards in advance of his articles. :D

Vegas picking team tomorrow and today is last day for side deals, so which reporter gets the leak before the awards?

If Stepan goes to Arizona, the Rangers are going to get futures in return. Arizona needs to reach the cap floor. With Smith traded, they'll have $15 million to go even if they bring Doan back one more year.

The Rangers will get 2-3 of the 7th overall, 23rd overall, Dvorak, Domi, or Fischer. That's minimal salary coming back to the Rangers. The value in doing such a deal for the Rangers is to re-stock the prospect cupboard and to free up cap space to sign a guy like Shattenkirk.

If Stepan is traded and Lindberg is lost to expansion, the Rangers have no choice but to dip into free agency to find a checking center or two.

I wouldn't hesitate to bring Brian Boyle back at all if he'll accept a deal for under two million/year for a couple of years.

Bonino would be a great target but will be overpaid because he won two Cups in a row with Pittsburgh. Martin Hanzal would be a great under the radar signing. He went up against the Western Conference's top centers for years with Phoenix and did a great job. He'd be an ideal top 9 checking line center that would be able to slide up and down the lineup in case of injury. He'd be a bargain if he'd sign for under $4 million.

If the Rangers return Strome or Dvorak in the deal, there is your 3rd line center. They would then need a guy like Boyle as the 4th line center.

No matter what happens, if Stepan is moved it's going to be a move pegged to help in the future moreso than next year unless its a 1 for 1. The Rangers see Zib as a #1C as long as he continues to develop. Find another guy like that

That Brooks article is so out of touch to be honest. If we were to land one of Keller, Domi, or Dvorak I would be livid if we immediately flipped them for a defenseman. If we are fortunate enough to get an elite 21 and under prospect like that in a Stepan trade we need to keep whoever it would be and try to move Miller or Hayes for a defenseman. Or you know, just sign the guy that's available on July 1st to fill the 1RD vacancy. :dunno:

Brooks sounds like bern

Just kidding. This is the main reference that our GM comes to to research the moves he should make for the NY Rangers. We are the NY Rangers Matrix :)

Hahahhaa. No worries. I was joking as well.

Anyway, regarding Brooks. More and more it seems as if his articles are based on what fans are speculating on message boards. He's a typewriter in a world full of pc's and he tries to stay relevant

There's that MacKinnon name again, getting my hopes up

Of course dealing McD for him would utterly destroy our defense so there would need to be several other deals to rebuild the blue line.

I believe you are on the right path for sure. Fans on other boards started mentioning it a few years ago.

Could Skjei move to the right? Well, it would have been nice to find that out last season, wouldn’t it, but for whatever reason coach Alain Vigneault chose to use Skjei on his off-side for only six games (plus one period).
http://nypost.com/2017/06/19/how-derek-stepan-dangle-could-evolve-into-rangers-blockbuster/

Brooks is now blaming AV for NOT playing a rookie on his off-side... Can't make this **** up. What a clown.

What his article comes down to is this:

Stepan for Dvorak, flip Dvorak for Trouba

If that doesn't work?
Stepan for OEL
Then McDonagh for MacKinnon

Get younger, get faster, get bigger. YOUTH YOUTH YOUTH!

I am surprised he didn't put Reinhart and Kane in there.

Not if the Rangers acquire Ekman-Larsson for Stepan :sarcasm:

We have had a very successful team. I have to hope we could find some pieces outside of McD to move for Nate or another good player. Col or Win might want to make the playoffs someday instead of looking at their shiny draft picks. :)

I thought that was a weird comment as well. Should've blamed him for not playing Skjei enough late in playoff games.

I don't really care as long as AV is getting blamed by the beat writers. All negative press about AV is good press.

The more Brooks opens his mouth, the more I smile when re-watching this gem

"I want him out and the other ****ing clown, BRETT or whatever the **** his name is"

Cyrg should be thankful. Now people actually know who he is

try again
Haven't read the article but your quote is not consistent w/me relative to AZ getting Stepan.

I am pushing for Chychrun, with hopes a larger deal gets 7OA also

I do not expect a mega deal where 'yotes give up 4 1sts + Chychrun + for Stepan + Zib +

Flip this, flip that. Classic bern

I am looking at the expansion lists and I'm not sure I would love the return coming back from Las Vegas for Stepan unless I'm missing something. Dumba would be a nice piece for sure. Nelson? Meh, reminds me of Drew Stafford honestly. I guess they should have a bunch of picks

I'll believe the Rangers aren't interested in Shattenkirk when he signs a contract with another team

They tried to trade for him early last season. They presumably tried to trade for him again at the trade deadline. That doesn't scream "not interested" to me.

And this Brooks piece seems to be a lot of opinion, as has his last dozen pieces

He should start his articles with "Previously on HFNYR"

I have not read Brooks in a while but I agree with him about losing Grabner.
