If the Rangers were to give any bottom six guy a substantial contract I’d hope it’s Fast. Or do you want them to sign both? I think signing one might be affordable but definitely not two. I could be wrong but I think the cap is going to be pretty tight for the next year or so.
I like Fast, but I would trade him by the TDD and sign Clifford in the summer.

Just to play devil's advocate here, why isn't that a concern for Panarin?
They play a completely different style of hockey. Panarin type players (Kane/Crosby/Stamkos) keep trucking along as they get older because their bodies aren't breaking down from physical play. Panarin also joined the NHL at a late age so his body isn't as worn down yet. The typical power forward type players normally decline much quicker and around 30 (aside from AO of course who is just a freak of nature).

Everything on my end of course is just speculation, I don't have a crystal ball, but i'm just going on what normally happens with players with his playing style. I could be completely wrong and Kreider will go into his late 30's still playing good hockey and scoring 20-30 goals a year.

Edge...what do you think of a UFA like Muzzin for the left side if we move Skjei ? Too expensive salary and term wise do you think ? I also think Kreider will get more than 49 Million on a 7 year deal . He easily enough will get 53 .

Muzzin would be the type of guy who would scare the bejesus out of me in UFA.

Just turned 30, will be looking for top dollar and has a lot of hard miles on him....I get your point of a "muzzin type" and I agree with that.

Go hunting with Buch and see if you can bring back that type of guy.

Rangers have to decide what they want and unless they get that unreal offer for Georgiev they then have to sit down and talk to Lundqvist and Shesterkin. One of them has to go. Georgiev is pissed already and has gone public. It won't be long before the other two will follow suit. The team has to react now or they'll mess up just like the Isles who ended up with three pissed off goalies...

I think its not a good sign that Georgiev is the one handling this with a lack of composure. The team isnt going to make a decision like this to keep AG happy. What's next? You're getting your NHL salary, you haven't been demoted, youre getting playing time. Chill.

Did I miss this?

edit: found it, but kind of a reach to say he's pissed and has gone public.

Reach or not...he's not happy with the situation and has gone public. When you have three goalies on the roster, usually at least two of those three are gonna be pissed off after a while. It won't be long until there's more bad blood, maybe also coming from agents like in Halak's case. Rangers are wrong if they think that they can stick with that trio for the rest of the season. They have to either demote Shesterkin or lose Lundqvist somehow. The team has to figure out what they want and they have to find out what the players want.

He went public sure, but it wasn't a statement on the situation or a tweet through his agent. He was likely just asked a question and answered it. Pretty diplomatically, I would say.

Or trade Georgiev. By far the easiest solution.

I'd love to keep Kreider and I'm not really adding anything that hasn't been said already, there's a bunch of good pieces in place but this team isn't a contender until the rest of the core progresses. Its Kakko, Fox, Chytil, Kravstov, Shestyorkin, etc. It'll probably take a few years. You have Trouba & Panarin on huge contracts, you have Zib and TDA on their way towards big contracts, then you have a number of kids that have the talent and potential to eventually land big ones. My problem is I'd need Kreider at 4 years max and then evaluate from there. He may very well be an impact player until he's 38 but to run that risk of handcuffing yourself by his regression with all this young talent on the way is a lack of foresight to me. It hasn't been long since they were paying Nash almost 8 a year for fringe 2nd line production, and eventually 3rd line numbers.

I'd also add this offseason is a really interesting one for free agents. If Strome gets moved ideally Chytil grabs that number 2 spot but there's a number of guys that'll probably reach FA that can get plugged in. Pageau, Haula, Soderberg, Brassard all veteran stopgaps I'm comfortable with. Granlund will be coming off a down year so maybe you can lock him up on a short deal and see how he looks next to Kakko. Might not be the biggest names but lots of options this year

Not saying I like the 3 goalie rotation, but in a non-playoff year what is the worst that could happen? There are two months left, it's not the end of the world.

They can't demote Georgiev anyway without losing him for nothing.

Also, a three goalie model is 100% shit. Goalies aren't used to watching games from the pressbox so it pisses them the f*** off. Also very annoying to always share nets and Coaches during practices basically not allowing you to practice and prepare for games the way you want. For a goalie, confidence and other mental aspects are everything. If you have three goalies on the roster, sooner or later two if not alk three of them but are likely to be unhappy and lose confidence.
