Hellebuyck
Resch
Brimsek

Chelios. Leetch. Langway. Howe.
Kurvers. Iafrate. R Suter. Ramsey

Hull. Lafontaine. Ftorek. Kane.
Roenick. Mullen. Modano. Trottier.
K Tkachuk. Matthews. Stevens. N Broten
Resch? Kurvers? Ramsey? Ftorek? Are you serious?

Chico Resch is indefensible on an all-time USA team. He was born and raised in Canada and only ended up playing for the US because he wasn't good enough to make Canada in 1981 (he didn't play in 1976).

He stunk it up with the US in 1984, being thoroughly outplayed by 19-year-old Tom Barasso.

Barrasso played against Canada, Czechoslovakia, and the USSR. Resch let in 4 goals against West Germany before letting in 5 against Sweden.

He only started 1 game in 1984. It's an incredibly weak time with team USA. Wasn't like he was good in the 1982 World Championship either.

It's just a very puzzling name. As I said, at best he's a USA C team goalie, but more realistically he's a USA D team coach.

It's like saying you're very young without actually saying that
What a pathetic response. By your logic, no one on here knows anything about players from pre 1950 then. I'm definitely not very young and I don't need to have seen those guys play to know they don't deserve to be on this team anyhow.

What if someone has watched those players and still wants some discussion on this discussion forum...?
You clearly checked out of hockey like fifteen years ago. Your suggestions are awful.

You're the one suggesting.
I picked the players I believe deserve to make the all time team

It was a compliment. Don't be sad

Brett Hull objectively played on Team USA. A list of "All Time Team USA Players" objectively includes him.

The Florida Panthers objectively play in the NHL. A list of "NHL teams" objectively includes them.

The analogy holds quite well.
The only only went to the US, because he couldn’t make team Canada.

Tom Kurvers is the most absolutely mind-boggling pick I've seen in this thread. Just think of how many other defensemen the USA has produced that could make this team over him. How about Phil Housley for starters? Has the exact same strength and weaknesses as Kurvers, but is multiple degrees of magnitude better. And I don't know if I've ever paid Housley a compliment on this board.... Ever!

Ftorek is pretty far from contention, but he could maybe keep up with the rest of the guys. Ramsey is not that bad. Don't forget this guy received Norris votes despite producing very modest point totals. Some thought he was one of the three best defensive defensemen in the world.

See, now there's at least an explanation as to why Ramsay was selected. That's all I wanted from the guy. I'd think a guy like Brian Rafalski amongst many others are more deserving than Kurvers. Ftorek was a good player but I don't see how makes the team ahead of guys like LeClair, Gaudreau, Pavelski, Wheeler, Amonte and many others.

Oh I thought I've included Housley.

Ftorek is a tribute to the 70s. He did well in the WHA.

Someone mentioned Rafalski. Well, he could replace Kurvers or Ramsey. Or should I rather pick Reed Larson?

You could substitute Resch for someone who had a good game wearing a team USA jersey like Richter, Barrasso, Miller, or Quick.

Barrasso or Richter. Tough choice

if we were making a team where we only cared about defensive ability, without any regard to offence, would ramsey make it?

chelios is the easy number one, langway two. suter (ryan, obviously) and hatcher (i don’t even need to say which one) are ahead of him, probably. but ramsey would be a mortal lock for the bottom pair right?

but who fills out the bottom pair? slavin? mcavoy? mark howe? then unkess i’m forgetting some guys, it’s a sizeable step down to the likes of craig ludwig and keith carney.

I'd say Langway, Chelios, Ramsey, Slavin, Hatcher, Suter, in that order.
