Have to say Rangers did a good job compiling quality depth in the organization on defense. Going to give them a lot of flexibility to make moves to fill other organizational holes. Mind you the oldest are Skjei and Trouba who turn 26 in the next couple of months.

On the left (Not counting Staal as I think hes bought out this summer):
  • Skjei
  • Lindgren
  • Rykov
  • Hajek
  • Miller
  • Jones
  • Robertson
  • Reunanen
  • Ragnarsson
  • Gross
  • Kjellberg
On the right:
  • Trouba
  • ADA
  • Fox
  • Lundkvist
  • Keane
  • Skinner

Just browsing through Capfriendly and noticed that there's a lot of teams that need goaltending next year. Some examples include Carolina, Chicago, Detroit, Edmonton, etc. Gotta figure a team will make a deal for one of ours, most likely Georgiev.

Personally, I would try to make the following deals:

To Edmonton:
Lias Andersson
Alexander Georgiev

To New York:
Jesse Puljujarvi

Or

To Detroit:
Alexander Georgiev

To New York:
Andreas Athanasiou

Or maybe

To Carolina:
Alexander Georgiev

To New York:
Julien Gauthier or Carolina's 2nd round pick

Would you make any of these trades?

No words for how god awful of a trade proposal this is.

out of many Georgie trades I would say these seem the most objective.i would take the Carolina one but maybe switch to our 2020 second rounder?

I know it doesn’t look good from our prospective but maybe that’s what gm’s really feel that’s what Georgiev is worth right now. I probably don’t make the trade with some miracle Hope Lias can climb out of bust territory.
I don’t think any of us know what Georgiev is really worth right now. I would be happy with Detroit’s second. Would prefer to keep him out of the metro

Boy Keane has really impressed and pleasantly surprised. Watching him in preseason he did not look good.
He could be an interesting prospect going forward maybe even attaching him in a trade if we plan to keep ADA long term (plus Nils having a tremendous year in Sweden)

God Awful is a bit extreme here. The overpay part is Georgiev. But based on the feedback we have heard regarding Lias and how teams view him, you may have to attach a draft pick to him for Puljujarvi

Yeah I was thinking the same thing lol.

He should apologize.

Would like to see a defense of

ADA/Trouba
Lindgren/Fox
Rykov/Keane

post TDL.

with Miller and all those prospects on deck or in the distance, I can’t see where Brady fits. I think he’ll be an issue even if ADA gets traded once others are ready for promotion.

Open question...

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that Valiquette is a supremely intelligent hockey mind (he could probably have a future as a GM, but that’s a slightly different conversation).

In many respects he’s likely at the forefront of the future of goalie analytics. How much weigh in (if any) may Gorton and co. take from Valiquette?

His consistent praise of Georgiev (elite east to west, elite on shots straight on, best positioning of the 3, etc etc) is irrefutable.

In JD I trust, but man I hope Valiquette is properly utilized...

Find it mind boggling how some want to throw money at Strom and ADA and yet not entertain keeping CK. Strom is marginal and there are plenty of players in the league that can produce like him playing with AP. His stats are inflated. ADA has had a good year but is still prone to dumb lapses. I wouldn't pay him what others want to. We have enough in our system to replace him at a much lower cost and free up potential dollars to keep proven talent. Plus if he is as good as some people think trade him at the deadline and use the assets we get. Given LT contracts to Strom and ADA will keep us in mediocrity for years to come.

Valiquette is also a homer. Grain of salt required.

CSA/Valiquette also arbitrarily just disregards shots/shot attempts that CLEARLY happen and dump it into a stat they call "No shot," which has zero explanation and is dumb as heck in the grand scheme of things.

Yes, Vally is a smart guy, and some of what he says is good stuff. But I don't really take his analytical work too seriously.

As for him working for the organization, I'm sure he's plenty fine with his recurring role on the intermission desk, as well as (likely) contracting out CSA work to the team.
