It's certainly more than a guy who hasn't proven anything at the NHL level and doesn't want to play for the team who owns his rights.
JP is 2nd or 3rd in points in Liiga, still only 21. Also did well in Champions HL. His value has gone up since being loaned, hence why Edmonton did not bother to pull the trigger on the proposed deal with Andersson, who has very little value now. The Rangers can have Edmonton attach a mid round pick to the trade, but with the Lias situation and the 3 headed goalie tandem, I think Edmonton actually has the leverage here.

I think Georgiev alone for Pulju is a generous offer. No need to just attach Lias.

In fact, now isn't the right time to trade Lias under any circumstances. Let him play in Europe, don't give him the trade he wants, and see if he gets motivated enough to try to come back over and make the NHL.

But, the example you cite above is exactly why the Rangers should NOT add Lias into a deal as a sweetener and instead should either let him accumulate value playing in Europe or get his shit together and get him back in the organization. Now is probably the worst possible time to trade Lias.

And, like Fitzy said, Pool for Georgiev is already more than reasonable. Not a deal I'd make, personally, if I were the Rangers GM.

That league isn’t even as good as the AHL. His value is not Georgiev.

My very close Hartford source says that Keane is still at least a year from being ready for NHL action. Rykov isn't even close. Says he gets torched in his own end on a nightly basis. He is and always will be a project.
I haven’t watched enough Hartford to know but I’d still like to see Rykov get a couple games this year.

Can’t do much worse than Staal

That is such a weak take.

there are a lot of homers out there, Valiquette isn’t one.

Thanks!

So was it an "open question" about how much influence Valiquette should have with respect to Gorton and JD making decisions, or did you just want to hear people who agree with Valiquette (and you) that Georgiev is irrefutably elite?

The Athletic put out an article analyzing how far teams are from contender status. Spoiler: the Rangers are far from contender status.
GSVA projections, created by The Athletic’s Dom Luszczyszyn, are based on game score, which combines box score and advanced statistics to measure a player’s value. It features three seasons worth of data that are weighed by recency, adjusted for age and usage, and then turned into a win value above replacement level. You can read more about GSVA here and recent adjustments made to the model here.

My daily spicy take is that if we had started this season with Shesterkin as the starter, we'd be pretty close to the playoffs.

In any event, part of getting to "Competitiveness" is the expected growth and improvement over seasons of Chytil, Fox, Kakko, and the like. Panarin and Zibanejad need to hold serve.

But if we sell again this offseason next season could be a real stinker.

well, cmon. "my very close source in Hartford"…how much deference do you give to the opinion of this individual based on that description?
Sorry for the multiple responses, I'm the worst. You can PM me if you're really curious but I'm not going to put out there where I'm getting this from.

I'm happy to talk to the mods here to get the information vetted, sorry for causing a mini shit storm folks.

Yeah. Just an FYI - If you want to post insider info you have to go through a vetting process. It isn't anything super exhausting, but enough to where we can purify some of the crap that people attempt to pass off as "from a source"

I know you well enough to know you weren't doing it intentionally so if in the future you want to post anything just send one of the mods a PM and we can get you started on vetting.

I think it was less of a problem than others wanted it to be. "Someone I know who watches the games/game tape thinks…" is good enough for me to qualify their take. Glad you weren't wounded by any unintended snark.

I agree on Keane, not on Rykov.

I agree, like maybe Shesty shouldn’t have started in the NHL, but like “if” we had the Shesty we have now from G1 ...

We have lost against a “better” goaltender many times this season, and I am not sure we have won due to having better goalie many more times.

If our team were to make some noise — we would have needed better goaltending. Not meaning that Geo or even Hank has sucked, but they haven’t been what a young shaky teams needs.
