I can't wait until the trade deadline comes. This rental stuff every year is annoying, The Rangers don't engage in contract talks. The Rangers already know the number but they are not really interested in handing out that type of contract. Right before the trade deadline the Rangers touch base with the agent and they are the same numbers. The Rangers trade the player. Is the player worth a #1? All of the pundits contradict each other. Custance wrote that some people don't feel Kreider is worth a #1 because he is not a center. He gets that theory from Pierre LeBrun. Custance has a podcast called the Full 60. LeBrun was a guest on the podcast about 3 weeks ago. Kreider was struggling at the time. LeBrun said Kane was a conditional draft pick trade when they were discussing Kreider. Pierre didn't remember Nash was also traded that deadline for a #1. So there goes that theory. Kane has his own issues. Kreider is the last significant rental remaining for the Rangers. The Rangers got a #1 for Hayes and the market was flooded with rentals. Duchene. Hayes. Zuccarello. Simmonds. Nyqvist. Dzingel. Hayes is a center but Kreider is the much better player and the rental market is barren this year.

Kreider gets a 1st IMHO, no doubt. Especially in this years weak deadline rental market.

Kreider is getting moved. He Will return à First and a prospect and/or player. Or a conditional pick. The best bidder will get him. There is no clear favorite to win it all this year. The St Louis win last year is good for “on the outside contenders” interest. The assets we get for Kreider might very well be used to get a young player we have targeted all along. The same applies for Georgiev, but we might add to get that player directly if the chips fall into place and the hockey Gods are merciful

I even think there’s a slight possibility that if nobody matches Kreider’s demands, he might consider the Rangers offer this summer.

Just hope the scouting department are top shelf.:crossfing

Kreider definitely gets a first, it's a question of whether the rangers want the first or a player instead. At this point I'm unsure if they want a late 20s pick who takes 2 or 3 years or a young player+, who fits the age group better. Does a debrusk fit, a Roslovic(Winnipeg likely wants defense I know) those types plus another prospect or a pick. Just how i feel they might approch it all with our timeline.

Huh? At this point you’re just making things up to take random shots? Getting weird bud. Not once have I or anyone said a first round pick is a salary dump or even alluded to it.
OH please man.

Edge said he could guarantee that buch/strome aren’t traded as salary dumps and you responded by bringing up how buch almost went for Edmonton’s 1st?

How is that not clear cut?

And finally if you think with all the different stuff going on in my life that I think about you at all unless I’m actually looking at one of your posts?

Well man that’s actually kinda weird. Pretty egoic in itself

Honestly, I expect to get both in this February market - legit prospect with the 1st rounder.

Is it February 24th yet? Hell, I'd settle for Friday...

I’m more intrigued by what I think a guy like Buch could return if he is dealt at this deadline. Again, teams just entering their windows may prefer a RFA to be in Buch to Kreider. Teams like Boston and St Louis probably prefer Kreider.

I know many here are down on Buch but he’s been a pretty consistent 40-45 point winger and his 2-way play has improved. For the most part he’s a net positive with anyone he plays with and I’d bet a team like Edmonton would LOVE to have him to help balance out some of their scoring moving forward.

I forgot about the expansion draft otherwise I’d say Georgiev might help keep them alive in the playoff race while also providing them with an Ullmark-Georgiev tandem for the foreseeable future. They’re both RFAs. Hutton has one more year left but he’s relatively inexpensive and has been bad this year.

If Ullmark is out for a while, this is going to be another year where they dive bomb in the standings after a good start. I’d imagine even just missing the playoffs would be considered a huge improvement for them.

I can’t wait until the offseason when Eichel requests a trade

From the pipe dream department - how much longer until Eichel wants out of there?

Lebrun is another guy who always tries to shit on the Rangers.

Would be interesting if the Rangers traded Kreider to recoup NHL ready talent now, then at the draft traded Buch for assets and re-signed Kreider. Maybe package Buch with Skjei. Win-Win all around.

Kings are Gangsta. All Russian kids wanna be Gangsta. Duh... ;)

LA and NY are incredibly popular in Eastern Europe. Pretty much everyone I met living there who actively follows any American sports is either a New York or Los Angeles fan. The Patriots are the only exception.

As for the deadline. I hope we trade everyone listed in Brooks' article this morning sans ADA. Strome is good, but he's not worth the contract he'll get and is quite clearly a product of Panarin. Unless he wants to take the contract he's on now, just for more years, I'm not really interested.

Georgiev is overrated on here and there's no room for him.

Fast is aging and there's no logical reason to keep him.

Kreider will bring back a decent sized haul and is not worth paying into his twilight years.

I truly feel that hf will kill each other until we finally watch some hockey. Late night brainstorming about what we could do.
Trade:
Tony Deangelo, georgiev +3rd rd pick to TML
William Nylander + 2nd rd pick to NyC

Tony D is 7th in the league in scoring, you have to think that on a more complete offensive team, he can further boost their play. With Reilly's game down this year(and i think hes still injured), tony D is elite. Georgiev cant have enough value to bring back nylander by himself. Nylander is having himself a season and imagine him on a line with panarin and strome. Thats a lethal first line.

Trade:
Kreider to boston
1st rd pick, heinen, and a beer to nyc

The traditional price, hes a power forward, at the top of available players, and can really help a team in po with his size.

Trade(summer/no longer tdl)
Bos 1st+ tarmo+ hunter skinner+ brendan smith+2021 3d rd pick for hampus lindholm from AnA

Anaheim is rebuilding, brendan smith sent to offset salary with a 1st, 2 decent prospects who have good trade value, and a 3rd fir good measure. May be slight overpay, but this helps the backend by completely changing its outlook.

Trade:
Tor 2nd round pick, 2021 4th and 2022 5th for josh anderson from cbj

He scored 27 goals last year, had down season, is an rfa, can add to play with mika and kakko. News that they havent started talks and last time they struggled to find a deal. The picks will be worth it, they wont compete unless they get a jack adams caliber performance year in year out from torts.

Summer buyout: marc staal (hes about as useful as a phone book)
Resing fast 3mil ×4yrs

Our troops:
Panarin strome nylander
Anderson mika kakko
Lemeuix chytil kravstov
Fogarty- mckegg- fast (switch him to 3rd if kravstov still aint ready)

Defense:
Lindholm trouba
Skjei fox
Lindgren/keane (waiting for lundkvist, miller)

Shest
Hank

Thats a team with potential imo and we can do some damage. Two very good top lines, chytil will carry the kid line, kravstov will have ample time to develop on the 3rd, lemeuix is lemeuix, then we have some snarl with anderson. Idk i like it more than other proposals.

Edit: forgot buch and to resign strome. Strome 4.5 x 4 and buch with chytil instead of lemeuix. Lemeuix on fourth

Strome is such an unreliable player both on the ice and off in that he could show up next year and play some completely braindead hockey. He would still get 45-50 points just because DQ has a more offensively based system...and of course Panarin. You really cannot tell if the Strome you are seeing right now, who still has issues with penalties and defense, will perform like this moving forward. It makes more sense to cash in and make a hockey trade. Not trading for Draft picks as the center piece but a younger player that plays a different style of game maybe. Or is NHL ready that has ceiling of a 2-way game.

Georgiev - I think he is rated as he should be here. I think we all understand his inconsistencies. He shows flashes of #1 stuff. Then he has nights where he looks off or he is fighting it. If there a team that believes in his potential being a future starter you have to move him.

Fast - I think you need to keep players like him around. I do not think the salary ask will be ridiculous. $3 million AAV max. $2.5-2.75 preferred because he just does not produce enough offensively.

It’s definitely that and not that people lie and always claim they were fans of the team that drafted them lol

I thought it was pretty common for Europeans to have the Rangers as their favorite NHL team growing up. I remember seeing that somewhere.
