Mike Johnson mentioned Kreider's name when talking about Calgary on NHLNetowrk during the Sens Sabres game. Hmm

Does anyone know what Kreider's no trade list looks like? I doubt he'd block a trade to a Canadian playoff team if that is the best offer to NYR.

Everything that’s been reported so far is that it’s No Canadian teams.

Lindholm is a defensive 1D. Exactly what we need. Lundkvist is a prospect still, albeit a very very good one. Buch is a useless 45-50 point player. 2021 1st is nice but isn’t needed. Hajek hasn’t looked great and is easily replaceable. We’re getting a guaranteed #1D who fits our needs to a T. Anaheim has no need to trade him, which is why we overpay to ensure we get him
You are missing the point. You are trading for a defenseman that will need a new and very expensive contract by the time we are ready to contend. Overpaying for a guy that will need a new contract by the time we are ready to contend is a fools errand. Edmonton needed defense. They overpaid. How did that work out for them.

Lundkvist on an ELC will be exactly what we need at that time.

I thought I saw somewhere that all 7 Canadian teams are on his 11 team list.

Already a second liner with Panarin here. just add 2 more guys and he is 4th line, add 3 more guys and he is sitting in the press box. So not necessarily a firt liner for Kreider

I am just messing of course

Just for fun i went back to the 2015 season and averaged goal totals from from LW's from then till current 2019/2020 season. #20 who is consistently labeled as "Mr Inconsistent", is about as Consistent as you are going to get. He's 14th on the list of goal scorers through that span, in less games then all but 4 of the players mentioned.

1) Ovechkin 373GP 217 G
2) Marchand 355GP 167 G
3) Benn 368GP 144 G
4) Panarin 369GP 142 G
5) Skinner 364GP 140 G
6) Forsberg 337GP 143 G
7) Lee 374GP 133 G
8) Hoffman 365 GP 131 G
9) Kane 336 GP 126 G
10) Paciorety 345 GP 125 G
11) Gaudreau 363 GP 121 G
12) Van Reimsdyk 319 GP 120 G
13) Rackell 332 GP 117 G
14) Kreider 339 GP 110 G

1st line LW all day long!

We were discussing Buch which evolved into 50 point players. And a player like Buch, even if he hits 50 points, isn’t a guy you want on a contender. He’s ideally a third liner but doesn’t even have the all around game to fit there
I see your point but I’m a little more optimistic on Buch. To my eyes, he can be the ‘third guy’ on a top line, even. He has good skill and smarts. He has been snakebit indeed and i don’t see him ‘driving’ play at all. But he would, I think, have value on a good team as a top six guy.

Personally I’d like Trouba to play the ‘defensive’ role on the top pairing. I’d consider ADA to play with him, actually, If handedness isn’t a problem. I like Skjei as the ‘defensive’ guy with Fox. I just think Trouba and Skjei need to focus on defense. Leave the puck carrying and play making to Fox and ADA.

Personally I look at Buch as a 3rd liner on a competitive team. This has been our problem since a while, ton of 3rd line players playing top 6. Outside of this year when was the last time we had a scorer in the top 10? I think we got accustomed to mediocrity and if we are to get better we need better players, unless ofcourse Buch gets paid like the 3rd line guy he is.

They could but at the same time...if we're not buyers why would they be? They have 1 more point than the Rangers in two more games.

Building for the future, presumably. They'd be looking at Georg not Henrik.

Are we able to talk extension with ADA yet? Brooks has mentioned him being on the market twice in the last week.

I forgot about the expansion draft otherwise I’d say Georgiev might help keep them alive in the playoff race while also providing them with an Ullmark-Georgiev tandem for the foreseeable future. They’re both RFAs. Hutton has one more year left but he’s relatively inexpensive and has been bad this year.

If Ullmark is out for a while, this is going to be another year where they dive bomb in the standings after a good start. I’d imagine even just missing the playoffs would be considered a huge improvement for them.

Our boy lookin happy :)

So if someone (Detroit, Ottawa) offered Georgiev $4MM a year for two years, do you want to match that? You get a high second for your trouble. And if you do match, you can't move Georgiev for a year.

I think the Rangers can do a little better than that.

The Rangers match. They keep Georgiev. Lundqvist is gone by the summer of 2021. The Rangers have Georgiev and Shesterkin.

I can't wait until the trade deadline comes. This rental stuff every year is annoying, The Rangers don't engage in contract talks. The Rangers already know the number but they are not really interested in handing out that type of contract. Right before the trade deadline the Rangers touch base with the agent and they are the same numbers. The Rangers trade the player. Is the player worth a #1? All of the pundits contradict each other. Custance wrote that some people don't feel Kreider is worth a #1 because he is not a center. He gets that theory from Pierre LeBrun. Custance has a podcast called the Full 60. LeBrun was a guest on the podcast about 3 weeks ago. Kreider was struggling at the time. LeBrun said Kane was a conditional draft pick trade when they were discussing Kreider. Pierre didn't remember Nash was also traded that deadline for a #1. So there goes that theory. Kane has his own issues. Kreider is the last significant rental remaining for the Rangers. The Rangers got a #1 for Hayes and the market was flooded with rentals. Duchene. Hayes. Zuccarello. Simmonds. Nyqvist. Dzingel. Hayes is a center but Kreider is the much better player and the rental market is barren this year.

I have been pumping the tires on Josh Anderson all year long. He is exactly who the Rangers need as part of the group to compete. Diversifies the forward group. 2nd-3rd line tweener who looks like an excellent 3rd liner. Adds physicality so that we dont just have Lemieux as our pest. Makes us much, much tougher to play against.

Georgiev+2nd for Kapanen/Labanc

Prospect, Prospect + pick for Anderson

Kreider+2nd ‘21 for BOS 1st, Frederic, Studnicka

Frederic, Kapanen/Labanc, Anderson would make this team competitive down the stretch this season while gearing us up for next year.
Would you trade buch and fasts rental to CBJ for Andersen.

I think I might. Your basing the trade on the belief this is a ‘one off’ season for Andersen and that as others have put it: ‘your most likely looking at a return for buch as being another teams player that needs a change of scenery but who’s money matches.’ If Kreiders going, Andersen May be able to fill some of those shoes at buchnevichs salary and open Kreiders cap allotment to paying a 1LD.

Fasts wife gave birth to a baby this past summer or maybe alittle earler: he may not want to go as a rental. Flip side, dealing him as a rental, and he spending 3 months somewhere else may show him how much he doesn’t want to permanently uproot his family and make him want to re-sign the NYR even more

There is a reason why Josh Anderson is available. Portzline wrote about him yesterday. He is one year away from group III and he is looking for big money($6M per?) in his next big contract after having a messy contract battle three years ago. Arbitration eligible. One year contract and Anderson is free to walk. He hurt his shoulder in the Boston series last year. They did not perform surgery so he rehabbed the injury and he wasn't healthy at the start of training camp. He was not 100% when he reported to camp. Anderson has missed the last 6 weeks with a shoulder injury. Same shoulder? Different shoulder? It doesn't really matter. The guy has two bad shoulders or one really bad shoulder. He has not been the same physical force this season with the shoulder injuries. He has had an awful season so far when he was "healthy" enough to play.
See that’s why none of us should be making the decisions. We don’t know half of this stuff.

On the same token, we also don’t know if his shoulder injury is chronic or with another summer of rehab and training he’ll be fine.

So this once again proves how much we’re in the dark. What helps with an Andersen opinion is obviously JD

Wait, you're whole argument with me last week was that we couldn't use hypotheticals or make assumptions, and now we have Kapanen acquired via trade?
Goalposts

correct me if I’m mistaken but weren’t you telling us in June that we were close to moving Buchnevich for a first round pick?

A 1st round pick is now a salary dump?

Technically speaking I guess your right once again.

And for those of you wondering why you stick around these boards, even when you want to pull your hair out, the Athletic article is a prime example:

Other people are just now starting to talk about conversations featuring names that we've known about and discussed as being on the Rangers short list for a year at this point. Literally, a year.

Look, rumors can be a very tricky landscape to navigate and there are a lot of moving parts. But there are posters on this board who really do try to give you tangible stuff to work with as soon as they can, or as soon as they can verify the information. And we've seen this a lot over the last 24 months.
And I wholeheartedly thank you guys who do that for us. Gives those of us who are dialed in enough to know who to keep up, and gives us a leg up on the guessing/being in the dark
