I like Lindholm but his contract situation isn’t ideal

I’m not at the point yet where I’d feel comfortable making a blockbuster like that

Maybe next summer

Skjei for Lindholm could be a base of a deal otherwise, I don't see a point. Rangers needs forwards. Rather get Jones, Comtois or Steel from the Ducks. Rangers got future d depth so it's not much a need. Upgrade on Skjei yea, but rather wait for the youth

I'd be asking about Brodin from the Wild if he's indeed available. Trading Skjei for some Carolina futures makes more sense if you can turn around and make a move for a guy like Brodin.

Carolina seems like a match made in heaven tradewise with the Rangers. I know it's been mentioned here somewhere that Carolina has been linked to Skjei, which is a bit strange to me because it seems like they'd be looking for forwards or RHD with Dougie Hamilton out. They are loaded with picks this year (2 1sts, 2 2nds, 2 3rds) and, given the guys we have available for trade this year, it seems like it should be a no brainer to work something out. If I were them, I'd be all over Kreider/Strome/DeAngelo/even Buchnevich.

So is the plan to trade Strome for what you can, and sign Galchenyuk? Could he fit with Panarin? Left shot. What will it take?

Lauko is one of those buyer beware types.

There are enough tools there that it’s easy to over-project him, but I’m not sure the sum of the parts quite equal up to the offensive player one thinks he could be.

So not unlike Hajek, where others thought there was more offense and maybe more upside, I tend to lean toward a more conservative projection for him as a prospect.

Frederic and a 1st. No retention

If they want 50% retention. Give the rangers Heinen and Lauko is a tempting player but 50-50 chance he’s Josef balej.

50% retention and taking Heinen’s cap hit helps them this year (to add another player) and subtracting heinens cap hit next year will probably be necessary if they want to resign both Kreider and krug

That's some magic beans thinking right there.

Move a guy who plays in all situations, young, 22-23 minutes a night, and who would probably take a cost controlled contract for a one dimensional player who isn't even terribly good at that one dimension.

Galchenyuk is Buchnevich with extra steps.

The Rangers have four NHL defensemen who are expansion draft eligible — Trouba (NTC), Skeji, DeAngelo and Lindgren. Lindgren is the youngest and cheapest. Logic tells you they will look to move either Skeji or DeAngelo.

To me it’s an easy decision (Skeji) but in either case, it’s probably the type of trade that isn’t made until the offseason. It’s very unlikely a team in the playoff hunt is going to move the type of asset the Rangers will want off their current roster. Unless someone is ready to trade a prime young asset, see you in June.

OK. But the question remains. Is this Gortons plan? Brooks wrote; "When it comes to trades, specifically regarding Kreider, Fast, DeAngelo, Strome and Alex Georgiev, management will weigh the measure of a potential return package against the value of having the player in the lineup two, three, four and five years from now, and all that, of course, against the cold reality of the hard cap." It is not Galchenyuk or Strome. It is Galchenyuk and the return from a Strome trade or Strome. What will Galchenyuk get in free agency? And how many years?

Assuming Trouba, ADA and Lindgren protected, Hajek would be exposed even if we move Skjei.

Really?

The Bruins prospect pool doesn’t rank all that high in various prospect rankings

Bottom 5-10 basically

The problem is this though. When you trade away a rental, you aren't getting any top prospects, and those are the players who put prospects pools ahead of others. Take those away and what do you have left? Bruins possibly one of the more established organizations to get what you're realistically looking for

My God the Rangers aren't trading thr 8th overall for Lindholm let alone adding either Kravstov or Lundkvist to the deal.

You only move those assets if a top rated young player is coming back. Young in on the ELC, just coming off the ELC or a player like Nylander.

The Rangers moved the #20 and a bottom 6 Dman (in their eyes and performance up until he was dealt) in Pionk. He was 25 at the time of the trade (still is until the end of February but needed a new contract).
